About this bed and breakfast
Situated in Surry, this lovely bed and breakfast for $195 per night is a great option for your next trip. Perfect for social distancing, bright and private, with southwesterly views of the Blue Hill Bay, fabulous furnished, private and covered deck plus a private garden with a fire pit and access to a private beach. The enclosed garden is accented by flowering magnolia, wild raspberry bushes, which you are welcome to pick when in season (late July early August), crabapple trees and hydrangeas, great for relaxing on the Adirondack chairs, nap in the hammock, enjoy the starry Maine night sky, roast marshmallows by the fire pit or dine al fresco at the bistro set. A wooded path to the beach is mere steps away and the cobblestoned parking area accommodates two cars. Being nestled in a corner of the pristine American Legion woods, the property is the perfect setting for wildlife sightings, swimming, kayaking and fishing. Hiking trails are all around, ranging from easy, short and flat to more challenging terrains and elevations. The interior is scrupulously appointed with authentic mid-century modern classics mixed with some farmhouse accents. There is a luxuriously comfortable king size bed with high end mattress and a memory foam/green tea infused topper, and high quality percale linens. The apartment is best suited for a couple. Most Maine coastal summer nights are cool, but there is a fan and a/c, which regulates not only the temperature but also the humidity that blows in from the ocean during a few summer days. There is High speed internet (300 Mbps) for unlimited streaming, Direct TV, a bluetooth speaker to play music from your smartphone, tablet or laptop, a small classical guitar for those inclined, binoculars, a chess set, scrabble, dominos and playing cards. A small, eclectic library completes the setting for a leisurely vacation. The property is two miles away from the quaint Blue Hill village, with a choice of restaurants, two libraries, museums, book stores, wine and cheese shop, gift shops, post office, hospital, two churches and the famous Tradewinds supermarket. Blue Hill is conveniently located for easy access to Stonington, Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island and is served by Bar Harbor Airport (22 miles) and Bangor International Airport (40 miles.) A local business called The Activity Shop, rents kayaks, bikes, canoes, paddle boards, sail boats, wet suits & gear. They offer the option of delivering to your doorstep and picking-up when you are done. More leisurely minded activities exist as well, like puffin tours, moose safaris and bird spotting guided walking tours; if you are interested specifically in the puffin viewing boat tour, you would best be advised to plan (weeks ahead) to check dates for availability. We had an incredible stay at Fabiola's cottage! Fabiola was incredibly communicative, and she greeted us when we arrived. She offered us a tour of the property, and she even put together the cutest welcome basket for us -- with a dog for our pup!
The apartment was spotless, warm, and cozy. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings, and Fabiola had made sure that we had fire wood and lighters available. There is also a huge fenced in yard that was perfect for our dog. He loved being able to run free!
We stayed in the apartment and drove to Acadia every day for hikes, and it worked out wonderfully. The kitchen had everything we needed to make small dinners for ourselves at home and rest before the next day's adventure.
If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay with your pet as a home base for exploring the national park, look no further!

Fabiola is an awesome hostess!❤️. She thought of everything to make our stay comfortable a basket full of goodies and keepsakes to a toy for our dog. ( which is now his favorite toy) Awesome play dates with her pup,Otto. But seperate yards in case they don’t get along. She was available but respected our privacy.
The accommodations were very private. The private beach was awesome. The bed was very comfortable, a cute kitchen with all the amenities needed. Can’t say enough about our stay a Bluehill Cottage.5+stars all around.

I have never felt more taken care of during our stay at Fabiola's beautiful cottage! My husband and I spent a weekend getaway here with our dogs, and it was nothing short of perfect. The cottage is impeccably decorated, the property is just plain special, especially if you're a dog owner, and Fabiola is a wonderful, attentive, and genuine host. My only regret is not staying a few more days--but we'll be back. :)

A quaint cottage with eclectic furnishings combine to create a cozy and comfortable suite for two. The rooms are supplied with thoughtful conveniences for use throughout your stay. The caring host made us feel very welcome and is available if needs arise. A welcome basket of tasty goodies and handy items was a pleasant surprise. Our stay was in chilly off-season but we took the short walk to the beach anyway. It looked appealing with easy water access which is unusual for the area.

Staying at Fabiola’s guest cottage, felt as welcoming as staying with a long lost cousin. We had a splendid, relaxing time. Fabiola had many thoughtful touches, our favorite of which was the dog toy she chose, especially for our dog. It’s his new favorite! Location is great with easy access to blue hill and close to Ellsworth. there was no noticeable road noise. We highly recommend this place to others.

Down East Delight
Blue Hill Cottage was everything we were hoping for and more. Fabiola was a wonderful host, who was gracious with her time and recommendations. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and was available anytime if needed. Upon arrival, Fabiola had a basket of goodies waiting for us,, which even included a little gift for our pup! The home was well stocked with anything you could need.. There is plenty of outdoor space, including access to a private beach just a short walk from the house. When we return to the area, we hope to stay at Blue Hill Cottage again!

Wonderful Place to Stay
My husband and I enjoyed 3 nights at the cozy, comfortable cottage. Fabiola greets you at check in and shows you everything you need to know about the property. It's nicely furnished and has a very comfortable bed. An easy place to relax. There's a lovely private beach a short walk through the trees. Fabiola is a very generous and thoughtful host. It was a pleasure to meet her and enjoy her property. I would definitely recommend staying at the cottage.

Lovely cottage in the perfect area
My husband and I had the best experience on our trip to Maine. Fabiola and her cottage was a big part of making our trip so wonderful. She is an amazing host and the cottage was lovely and very accommodating. We immediately felt at home. The private beach was one of our favorite amenities. This cottage is in a great area which allows for many adventures all within a one hour drive. We will definitely be back again someday. Wonderful Wedding Weekend
The Blue Hill Cottage was our first experience in Blue Hill, ME as we visited for a family wedding. The location was perfect for our weekend of wedding events. Fabiola leaves no stone unturned, as everything is labeled in the cottage, amenities abound, there's a binder of information, and she provides you with a warm welcome and tour. Having a private beach was amazing, and the place is so peaceful - it was just what we needed after the events of the weekend. An added bonus is that you're close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park to visit, but far enough away to relax at a calmer pace in Blue Hill. Thank you for providing us with a lovely first impression of Blue Hill, ME!

Cute Location & Fun Place
My boyfriend and I stayed at Fabiola's property for a long weekend in October and had the best time. The fall leaves were beautiful and Fabiola gave us all the tips on our welcome tour. The house is so cute and has a very fun style inside with plenty of things to make for a fun trip. Really comfortable bed and everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom. We didn't have the best weather at first, so we didn't use the fire pit but the stars are incredible if you catch clear skies.
The 1-hour drive to Acadia isn't bad either especially since the park is rather small. The place is just a small trek away from a beautiful beach, there's a creepy abandoned house you'll pass but once you get down to the beach it's worth it.
Overall perfect trip for a couple or small group! Highly recommend Fabiola's location on Blue Hill.

Cosy Spot in Coastal Maine
This little cottage is so sweet and cosy. Every little detail has been thought out, and the owner was responsive and welcoming. The bed/sleeping area particularly was so cosy, I could have just laid in bed and watched tv or read one of the many great books available all day long!

Perfect Getaway
We had the best stay at Fabiola’s guest cottage. The bed was extremely comfortable, the home was designed well and the town of Blue Hill was very cute and had some great food options! It was also an easy drive to Acadia. Fabiola was welcoming and it’s very clear that she cares about the comfort of her guests. She left the cutest basket for us upon arrival, even with some surprises for our pup! The backyard and the private beach were perfect for us to get our dog to exercise and we used the fire pit one night to make s’mores. We will definitely be back!!

Cozy and relaxing - the perfect vacation
I can’t speak highly enough of Fabiola and her property! The cottage is perfectly nestled away from the main house, which afforded us privacy while still being close enough to enjoy the backyard. The private rocky beach was absolutely our favorite amenity - I could spend every afternoon on the beach with a book! Thank you again, Fabiola, for your hospitality and attention to detail! Great place to make ‘home base’
I fell into Blue Hill by accident, but it’s the perfect town to stay in, with very little tourism. This cottage was perfect for me - quiet, easy living. Fabiola is a fantastic hostess - very quick check in after I had a 16 hour day of travel and was not at all intrusive. She made me aware of opportunities around that were off the beaten path. I took her up on an offer for drinks and we had a wonderful time - she’s a terrific hostess. I feel like I really hit the jackpot for relaxation with this town and cottage.

Cozy guest cottage in Blue Hill, Maine
We specifically chose the Guest Cottage to be near Mt. Desert Island (Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor are on the island) for day trips there, yet far away from the hustle of the area in the high summer tourist season. The host of the guest cottage, Fabiola, thought of everything for stocking her property. The photos online are true to what you will find at check in. The cottage bed is extremely comfortable and the linens are of the highest quality. The kitchen and pantry are stocked if you need to eat a quick meal. There are great Blue Hill restaurants nearby and a local market called Tradewinds for groceries. We loved staying at the cottage, using it as a base to explore trails in the area. On our last evening we used the firepit and roasted marshmallows under a starry sky! Grateful to Fabioloa and her thoughtful appointments on the property! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Quiet Comfort :)
We stayed at Fabiola's cottage in July 2019. We found the cottage impeccably clean and stylishly furnished. Fabiola designed the interior with future guest in mind. The interior is tastefully decorated with some thoughtful details, such as creative . The host also went out of her way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. She personally welcomed us and left us some small gifts. Beside that, her cottage is full of useful things - it would take a long list to name it all. Suffice to say that the kitchen is fully equipped, including appliances and a coffee maker. There are some provisions and treats, toiletries, candles and many other things.
For septic tank used for the plumbing you need to be careful not to throw anything in the toilet (not even too much septic-specific toilet paper), but it is not too hard to do. There is no wi-fi because of the house's remote location, but it is part of its charm. The unrestricted access to the bay shore is a short walk downhill, and you can have a barbecue at the beautiful yard. Desert Mountain (Acadia National Park) is an enjoyable 50-minutes drive away, the same distance as the beautiful town of Stonington, from which you could take a boat to Isle Au Haut, a part of Acadia Park. Penobscot Narrows Observatory and Fort Knox are also highly recommended.
Fabiola is also a warm and welcoming person and I enjoyed a couple of friendly chats with her. Besides the detailed guestbook (which even includes astronomic events for the summer!) Fabiola is very knowledgeable about the area and will inform you what's going on in Blue Hill and around.
In sum, it was a wonderful stay. Fabiola, thank you so much and please keep it up! We will surely come back, given a chance.

This cottage was perfect! The added personal touches were really an added bonus and very much appreciated. Location to the beach was perfect and the town of Blue Hill is adorable! It was a perfect stop for us!

Fabiola's place is AMAZINGLY wonderful. It's cute, quaint & full of amenities.... she really thought of everything you could possibly need, & her book full of information she has for her quests is super helpful. Everything was better than expected. Check in was super easy, the king size bed is superb. We loved the walk down to the ocean & the drive to Acadia was approx. 40 minutes. It is the perfect spot for a couple. We cannot say enough about the apartment, the location & even the decor. And meeting Fabiola was a delight, she made us feel at home from the minute we met her......We highly recommend her place .... we would definitely stay there again!!
