Tucked away on Colony Drive in Salvo, this cozy oceanfront cottage will truly put your mind at ease. Simple yet sophisticated, Idle Minds offers three bedrooms and two baths, ocean views, and charming interior design. An outdoor shower comes in handy for a quick rinse after a trip to the beach, and a charcoal grill off the back deck where everyone hangs out makes cooking out fun. There are two entry points to this cottage: one in the front, and one in the back. The front stairs lead up to a sundeck that overhangs the drive, and the back stairs lead up to a larger sundeck with a picnic table and hot tub. As you enter the home from the front, you might not make it past the first room as a huge couch, flatscreen TV, Blu-ray player, and surround sound make this a premier spot to flop down and lounge the day away. A slew of board games and movies put the icing on the entertainment cake for both kids and adults alike. Moving into the living room, a high vaulted ceiling really opens the place up. A couple of comfy chairs are perfect for reading the morning paper in, and a lovely couch and coffee table are centered around a marvelous fireplace creating an intimate setting. Just off the living room, you will find a spacious bedroom with a king bed and flatscreen TV. There is a full bathroom next to this room that is accessible from the bedroom and the living room. As you proceed to the back of the house, there is an eight-person dining room table that looks out toward the ocean through sliding glass doors. The kitchen has all matching appliances, including a cooktop stove on the island bar with bar stools, allowing you to socialize while you prepare meals. You'll find another four-people counter height table in the breakfast nook, and back entrance leading to the sundeck and carport. Upstairs you'll find bedrooms two and three. The second bedroom has a pyramid-style bed and is connected to bedroom three by a bathroom with a jetted tub. Bedroom three is an open loft space with a king-size bed. There is a sitting area that overlooks the living room, and the bed is tucked away in the back. Off this room, there are sliding glass doors that provide access to a second-level deck. From this deck, you can walk up one more level to the crow's nest that offers amazing ocean views of the pristine Salvo beaches. THINGS TO KNOW This property is managed by Vacasa North Carolina LLC. If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles. Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

Well equipped. Decks for both sun and shade. Right on the beach. Great views of the beach and ocean. Really enjoyed sunrises from the master bedroom. A perfect vacation!

An interesting 3-bedroom home in a very nice location with a convenient access to the beach. We found the furniture and king beds to be quite comfortable. A beautiful ocean view was available to be enjoyed from the top deck and the hot tub spa appeared to be new and worked just fine.

We enjoyed our short stay at Idle Minds! The property is in a great location with easy access to the beach and nearby restaurants. There were only two of us, so this property was big, but it was nice to spread out! The hot tub was amazing and great way to relax at the end of the day. The house was lovely, but there are a few things around the place that need some attention - for example, when I went to open the door to the closet in the room where we slept, the handle came right out of the door. The slider in the same room did not lock properly, so a piece of wood was used to keep that secure. It would be a top notch property if these little details were looked at and fixed, for sure. The bed spread on the bed we slept in was quite worn and had some stains. The technology in the house is awesome, however, we found it difficult to figure out (and we are pretty techy!), so I imagine others might struggle to figure things out. It might benefit from some sort of guide that tells you how to turn on the TV/sound bar/connect to speakers, etc. If there was a guide in the house, already, we did not see it. Overall - lovely visit and would definitely return, but would love to see some of the those little details that really make a place spectacular updated!

We loved this. I'm from the area and always love to come back! It is definitely pet friendly but be aware that the front and sides of the yard are off limits due to the sand spurs. The back yard was perfect for our pup. The hot tub was fantastic! The beds were comfy. Kitchen well stocked. I left my watch behind on accident and Emily was the best at communicating with me and getting it back to me. We loved it and will definitely be back.

We have stayed in this home several time over the years and it never disappoints. The location is perfect and the home is comfortable, clean and cozy. The hot tub has been replaced and it is huge! Definitely recommend this home, especially in the off season!

This was the perfect house for our winter trip in January. The gas fireplace kept the house cozy and warm. The short walk to the beach with our own path was great! The house had everything we needed for a great family vacation!

So this was our first time staying at this particular house and in this area of Hatteras. We are usually down near Hatteras Village, but the house we usually stay had been sold and was no longer for rent. I have to say that this house far exceeded our expectations. It is lovely, well cared for, but also very dog friendly. We loved having our own private walkway to the beach as we noticed that a lot of other houses did not. The hot tub was awesome. The beds were more comfortable than any beach house we’ve stayed in. We loved the two decks. The upper one was a great place for star watching. We were able to find two wonderful seafood shops in the area that were very different, but seemed equally friendly and good. CJ’s produce was a wonderful find. Definitely the best place for all of our fresh produce needs and she even had fresh eggs! The only thing we had a little trouble with was finding a restaurant that we particularly liked, but we were super spoiled with Hatteras Sol down at the very end of the island. We will need more research there. Over all, we loved the house and the area, and would definitely stay there again.

Great view, great location and the house is very comfy and spacious. Would be even greater if the house was equipped with beach equipment. Also it was not so cleaned when looking underneath the furniture and big bin outside was full.
