Casa Sueños (House of Dreams) is a magical escape into a Fairy Tale setting. This cedar log home is surrounded by woods. Every morning birds will sing you wake up songs. Gorgeous wood peckers can be seen from the wrap-around deck. The sun rises through the trees into the master bedroom. At night, the stars shine through the sky light. There is no more romantic setting... yet it's great to share with lots of family and friends as well. Casa is just 10 minutes from the beautiful Main St. in Highlands, yet it's cozy and tucked away in the woods. You will absolutely love it and return often. Guaranteed! PLEASE BE AWARE that while most VRBO properties put their additional housekeeping fee on top of the online quote we have always asked our guests to take care of it directly by leaving it by the kitchen phone before departure. There is a special home well maintained quiet to stay out the noisy city very center to going out many places to visit I definitely recommend.

Cabin was beyond our expectations. Small and quaint. To our surprise it was decorated for Christmas and that just set it over the top. Karl thought of every single detail when he put this property on VRBO. We didn’t have to buy not a single item other than our own food. Location was beautiful and quiet. I suggest you arrive during the day as it’s in a very rural area and you might miss the entrance. Karl’s instructions were all on point and detailed. Only mishaps we found were three beer cans thrown in the middle bedroom closet and the closet was not organized or picked up. I took the liberty of washing all the blankets that were in that closet and organized the closet before leaving the property. We also found an electronic cigarette under one of the bunk beds which I threw away and two other beer cans. The kitchen was not thoroughly cleaned. I cleaned it with Lysol and Clorox wipes upon arrival as you could see fingerprints on the outside of the cabinets, fridge and microwave. I may be a lil OCD but for the cleaning fee they charge I did expect more from the housekeeper. Karl, you were wonderful in every aspect. Thank you for your hospitality and we do plan on returning.

The cabin was incredible! It was extremely spacious and exactly as described. The fireplaces created a perfect cozy ambiance and the wraparound porch was wonderful for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful fall colors. It was perfectly located allowing us to enjoy everything Highlands has to offer while also providing peace and privacy. I would love to return with family for another getaway as there is plenty of room for everyone. The owner was friendly and attentive. Thank you for sharing this amazing mountain gem!

It was a fun log cabin tucked deep in the woods. Very well appointed — all necessities were provided. Hot tub was fun as was the fire pit and fire places. Host was very accommodating. Great stay!

There were just two of us, so we really enjoyed all the space. The cabin is very well furnished. The wrap-around deck is wonderful. I struggled a bit with the gas oven. The owner suggested we use the high-end grill, but we're not grillers. Bring your DVDs; there's a HUGE TV in the living room. True to the ad, this cabin is 10 minutes from Main Street in Highlands. I'm a swimmer, so I took advantage of the fantastic pool in town. The cabin is located about 25 minutes from the Whiteside Mountain trailhead and also Dry Falls. Maybe a little more to Silver Run Falls--arguably the best of the closest falls.
The only downside to this cabin: the skylight smack dab over the king-size bed in the primary bedroom. If you are an early to bed, early to rise person, you will have trouble with the light. It's also impossible to nap on that bed because of the blazing sun. I gave my husband that room, since he goes to bed much later than I do. I took the queen-bed bedroom, where there are good light-blocking curtains.

Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our trip to this well equipped cabin with our family of six (3 generations!). Cabin was exactly as advertised and we had everything we needed. Beds were comfy, there were plenty of towels, and had all we needed to make a few meals from home. Not too far from town but away from it all. Hiking and biking in the Blue Valley Experimental Forest just up the road was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed many waterfall hikes with our pups - Silver Creek Falls and Dry Falls were our favorites. Although we didn’t see a (real) bear at the cabin, we did see one about a mile from the place (very exciting!). We would definitely return! Thanks for sharing your place with us.

Love the cabin but it needs to be power washed outside on the porch or at least use a blower. Inside needs a deep clean. A table to eat on outside would be nice to enjoy the outdoors. The bedroom fireplace or chimney needs to be cleaned. It smelled too smokey. The road to the cabin had huge holes and ruts. I smelled the septic system outdoors. Nice TV.

It was so charming, cozy and perfect for our stay.
The owner was super accommodating for check out when asked and great about communicating.
Our group absolutely loved it.
My only suggestion would be since internet connection is tough is to include the name of the "Casa Suenos" in the listing.

We had an exceptional time at this Highland wonder in the gorgeous mountains of North Carolina. The cabin was very accommodating for 3 adults and 2 children. Plenty of room. 10 mins from Highlands and plenty of waterfall hikes 30-45 mins. We also rented a boat for 3 hours from Signal Ridge Marina, which was an amazing experience. Enjoyed S’mores twice as well - it’s been a while since enjoying a real fire.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful cabin. It was bigger than we expected and with every amenity we could want. Great price and location. Fast and friendly communication from the owner when I had a question also. We all slept great on the comfortable beds. It was a completely enjoyable experience.

Wonderful well equipped home. Although a little drive from town, it was easy enough to get there. Beds were very comfortable and just overall very comfortable. Owner was very quick to respond to questions.

This property is very remote, and one can expect all the good things that come from that to be as advertised. If there was any concern, it would be the driveway being very steep and tricky about getting up it and probably folks should be warned. I will definitely bring my four-wheel-drive next time.

We were blown away from the moment we entered the home. The home was clean and comfortable with enough room for everyone to spread out. This home has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. First time at Highlands and first time booking Vrbo. Accommodations were excellent. Dwelling was clean and there were no problems with anythings. A little off the beaten path. But after going to town it became a short drive. I highly recommend these accommodations.

My family just spent a week at this beautiful cabin. If you are looking for a "real mountain cabin" feel this is the place for you. It has that great rustic look, including two wood burning fireplaces combined with all the 21st century conveniences (Wi-Fi, very large smart TV) and a modern kitchen. The place was very clean and well stocked. The owners even provide you with all the firewood you could use. This was big for us as my wife loves a wood fire. My only warning is if you visit at a time where it could snow or have freezing rain you had best have four wheel drive or at least chains to get up the driveway but what do you expect when you go to the mountains.
Overall we would highly recommend this cabin.
