Never have I ever stayed at such a quiet, beautiful waterfront location. If relaxation is what you seek...well, you have arrived at your destination!

We loved our stay here! It was a very private, very quiet island with easy access to so many things nearby! Everything was clean, worked well, and made us feel right at home. We would love to return and enjoy this cottage again! My morning coffee was just perfect as I enjoyed the serenity of the water and the gorgeous sunrise! Thank you again for a delightful stay in your cozy cottage!

Nice little cottage close to Virginia's Historic Triangle. Our granddaughter is studying Colonial U.S. History in school in GA. We took her there with her parents to see the area in person.

Did Christmas and New Year’s Eve with our adult kids and grandchild. Place was as advertised. Enjoyed how close yet far away it was to Yorktown and Williamsburg.

It was nice with a beautiful morning view. It had Christmas decorations which was a very nice touch. I appreciated lights being on when we arrived because we arrived very late and that helped. One of the best stocked kitchens I ever rented out.

Traveling from Louisiana with our daughter, son-in-law and homeschooled grandkids, studying American history. Staying on an island was awesome! The view was stunning. Crossing the wooden bridge was nerve-wracking at first but so cool! The house was quaint and comfy, 15-30 min from everything we wanted to see. Kitchen had everything we needed and having laundry facilities allowed us to pack light. We would love to come back to stay again!

Lovely, peaceful location. View was amazing. Enjoyed the open living space to deck. The sunset from the dock was stunning! Mike was quick to respond to texts.. We all would stay there again.

The home is on a little island with breathtaking views of the sunset and sunrise. My 17 year old son who never wakes early got up just to watch the sunrise. The home is very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The owners are within a text way if you need anything. I highly recommend this home and we look forward to going back again. Thank you!

My family our four loved our stay in this cottage. We were in the area for Busch gardens and colonial Williamsburg but wanted the peace and quiet when we weren't in the hustle and bustle. This was the perfect choice. The only downside was we didn't plan a long enough stay to enjoy the beautiful property. We are planning on returning to the area soon and will be booking this lovely cottage again. The owners are helpful and extremely hospitable. Thank you for sharing this gem!

This place is a dream. We both gasped when we drove onto the property, at the wide expanse of marsh and river in front of us. Ospreys and herons and egrets galore. The south-facing deck and sunroom take full advantage of the beautiful view, with many comfy seating options. The kitchen also looks out over the water. The beds are extremely comfortable. The big yard was great for our dog. All in all, we can't wait to come back!

First and foremost, I want to express our gratitude to the wonderful Hosts of this property. Couldn't have asked for better and caring communication. When I text them that our flight was delayed, they immediately thought of our comfort. Since we arrived after dark, they had all the lights on and made our entrance to the home super simple. Even though Tropical Storm Ophelia came through during our stay, we still enjoyed the experience of where the home was located, and they showed care and concern for our well-being. Not many hosts would have done what they did. The home is in a beautiful location and was convenient for where we wanted to visit. There was a grocery store right up the road and other amenities that made it easy for us. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of dishes for even a large gathering. The views are outstanding out the back of the home. The only downside for us was the time of year and all the mosquitoes that were outside. So bring the bug spray. I would recommend this type of experience at least once (minus the Tropical Storm) and enjoy the beauty that surrounds this cute cottage.

This house on this perfect little island was just what our souls needed! From the little wooden bridge to the abundance of the cutest little fiddler crabs, we loved it! The sunsets were amazing. Very close to everything we wanted to do as well! Great communication with owners!

Cozy island cottage that felt like a home away from home. Ample space for family of 5 and family dogs. Great location - only 15-25 minutes from the historic triangle and Busch Gardens. My family enjoyed fishing off the bridge and playing games in the cottage. We had a great stay!

Our family came for a week and loved the peaceful location! There was more than enough room, the kitchen had all the dishes and pans we needed to be able to cook meals, and the deck was perfect for relaxing outside. The whole experience was excellent. Thank you!

This year rather than staying in out typical annual timeshare resort for our vacation to the Williamsburg area, we wanted to make it a bit different. This cottage both felt much more like a home to us and gave us all a chance to wind down much more. The views of the York River and estuaries all around us were so beautiful. The little crabs that scampered away when we walked near were adorable. The house was cozy and almost perfect for the four of us. The owners just down the road gave us space, but also were able to help us refill a bike tire that needed some air when we needed help! Overall, just a lovely stay in a very unique location (on an island) and cottage.

The cottage was quaint and had a nautical theme throughout. We were permitted to take our dog which was a plus. Staying on the island was so serene, quiet and beautiful and the constant breeze from the York River was relaxing. The sunsets were absolutely stunning. The owners of the cottage were very accommodating and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends.

We originally had big plans to visit all of the historical sites during our stay, but the weather changed our plans for us so we spent most of our week at the cottage. It wound up being the best surprise, the setting was so peaceful! We went on nature walks, played board games, and our boys got to learn how to fish with their grandfather. The cottage was so cozy and well-stocked, it felt like staying with friends. Donna and Mike were so friendly, they were kind enough to let us fish from their private dock which was SUCH a cool experience for our boys. We built a lot of great memories this week and look forward to coming back. Thank you so much for sharing your slice of paradise with us!

Overall the stay was good. I really wish the upstairs shower would have worked but otherwise it was good.

As soon as you walk in this home you are struck with its charm. The owners and neighbors are so welcoming! My husband enjoyed the fishing from the bridge and the owners pier. Close location to get out and explore during the day and comfortable place to come back to and wind down in the evening. My little girl and husband liked watching the crabs come out of their holes at the fence line with one close raised. If in the area again we will definitely stay here if available!

Thank you Donna and Mike for creating a cozy, tranquil, and secluded spot for families can enjoy. Our dog Remy loved it!! The silence was meditative and wish we could stay longer. Would not change a thing except to warn ppl about the Wendy's down the street. It is the worst in Gloucester!! Tony & Milena's Pizzeria was amazing!!! A short drive to outlets and Yorktown.
Wonderful memories!!

Overall this is a great property to stay in as the atmosphere is so relaxing. The bird watching was fun and our small dogs certainly enjoyed their stay as well as watching the birds.

Stayed at the Gloucester Point cottage for graduation weekend at CNU in nearby Newport News (pretty easy ~35 min drive to the campus). What a great find! The 360* views were spectacular with all kinds of waterfowl in the marshes off of the York River. The house was nicely equipped and furnished and perfect for a small family gathering. The Mills were very responsive to address questions/concerns. The outdoor property/deck provided an excellent venue for a family celebration. Unlike many rentals I’ve encountered, the grill was immaculate and perfect for our cook out. I would definitely stay again. There was a great selection of stores and local restaurants on the Gloucester side and accessible with a short drive to Yorktown which kept us close except for the trips to CNU for the campus events.

All in all we had a great stay and this is a nice property. However, the house needs a number of small repairs. Nothing difficult but things that should be addressed. For example, lightbulbs needed to be replaced over the dining room table, in the oven, and in the frig. The light switch in the downstairs bathroom should be looked at as you have to move the switch just right to get the shower light to stay on. One of the windows in the living room has hardware that is hanging by a thread. Sockets in the pavilion don’t work. Knobs are off on cabinets. The upstairs shower could be used but the lever to change to the faucet for the tub is stuck in the wall. All of this considered makes it very interesting that the owner entered the property while we were there without telling us first to put away laundry that was sitting there for a number of days and to replace the frig lightbulb. First, you need to tell renters you’re entering the property before you go in (unless there is a suspected problem, which there wasn’t). Second, why replace the frig bulb when so many things needed attention?
All in all, things were fine. But all these little things that wouldn’t take more than a day to address and correct suggest neglect or lack of caring. And entering a property without letting renters know is not ok.

Carmine Island was more beautiful than we expected! Water views from the front porch and back deck, it was the best place to start and end our busy days in historical Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown. The house was perfect for 3 adults and 2 kids, plenty of space, comfortable furniture and beds, and very clean! A couple minor quirks showed the age of the home, but we loved our stay in the area and it really was the charm and beauty of Carmine Island that made it so great!

We had the best time at this beautiful home! We visited the Williamsburg area to take our kids to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. This property was perfect because we were able to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, while also enjoying the excitement of an amusement park and all of the demonstrations and tours at Colonial Williamsburg. The home and the view of the York River are even more beautiful than the pictures reveal. It is fun to find a unique property to rent, and this one is truly unique. We enjoyed riding over the wooden bridge to get to the island. The home had everything that we needed and more. The beds were very comfortable and the home was cozy. The hosts were wonderful! We hope to be able to return again to explore more of the area while enjoying time in a peaceful setting.

This is such a special place, cozy and not stuffy, you really feel like you are home. We just love it, as a family there is plenty of room for everyone.

The cottage was really cute and the island it sits on is very restful and peaceful. The beautiful marsh with all the bird watching was a special touch as well as the old wooden bridge that connects the main land to the island. A world away yet only a half hour to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. My boys had a blast and the hosts were very friendly and gracious. Nelly (the owner's dog that we asked to meet) was adorable!!!! xoxo Nelly!

We had a wonderful time and our kids loved being on an island. Great views! Donna was so helpful and gave us the inside scoop on good restaurants and things to do (especially the cool state park and “treasure hunting”). The beds were comfortable and had nice textiles (rare for rental homes).

The island getaway was just that! Gorgeous views, sunrises and sunsets!
Quaint, cute and comfortable! My wife and I enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hideaway to anyone looking for some serenity and comfortability!!!
