6Looking for Relaxation - Stay Elsewhere
Mar 2022
We were on a group tour so the leader recommended we all stay here. It was not our first choice. The staff were very nice. When we arrived, we were taken to the "premiere" check in, where refreshments and drinks were served while we waited for our room. I thought it was odd I could not get a good margarita... We had a nice corner junior suite on the 3rd floor overlooking the next resort and the Sea of Cortez; however, we could hear every little sound from the next room and from above. We didn't realize it was an all-inclusive until we had our first buffet meal. The food was pretty good and lots of choices in both buffet restaurants as well as the pool side dining cafe. If you're going to drink - they are watered down. Get a wine or a beer. Breakfast is included but not until 7am so if you have to be out early, ask for a box lunch or grab food and keep in the fridge for the next morning. There was nightly entertainment, which was pretty good. It was quiet on the grounds after dinner to sit outside and star gaze. There are really great restaurants within walking distance and cool shops.
Barcelo does not compare to the other resorts on the block so why act like a 5 star when you're a 3 star. Apparently, we needed to make reservations for the Mexican/Italian restaurant right at the lobby entrance between 9-5. That was not explained too well so we missed out on the first night. We had a reservation for the Mexican restaurant the following night but we returned late from our excursion. They have a dress code and we weren't allowed to enter with flip flops. We could have sat on the patio but that's only for Italian food. My husband put his shoes on and then we were seated and waited and waited and waited. The server did not speak English, which is ok in Mexico, but at least be able to understand or get assistance in a resort with many Americans. After 30 minutes, we left and ate at the buffet. People were hoarding chairs at the pools and drinking as early as 9 am in the pool. There were children all around watching these behaviors - inappropriate... The noise - it was quiet at first until the room next door came in at 110 am after spending the night at the bar. They were loud, banging things around, wrestling.... I had to knock on the door twice followed by calling security. The family above had several children running around, screaming, and dragging furniture across the floor. It was a horrible nights sleep! You should have a family wing, and maybe a spring break wing - not everyone is in Cabo for partying or bringing children. We didn't really enjoy it. It didn't quite live up to our expectations, especially when we went for a walk and observed all the great resorts.
9Relaxing and easy - good food and great service

We got the best room on premium level. It's worth every penny spent. Facilities are awesome. The view and lovely swimming pool, friendly staff, near the Dolphin swimming centre.
