Amazing history, uncomfortable bed, expensive food and add-ons: but ultimately still worthwhile.Aug 2021
We stayed on the 5th (top) floor. Our room had a nice view looking over the beach. The hotel is over 100 years old, and they've done a lovely job with restorations. We recommend the history tour (costs $40 per person). Lots of space on the beach and they provide free towels. Many restaurants within walking distance. Feels very luxe at the hotel. Lastly, their fitness room had two squat racks, which is unheard of and was awesome! Also they give you a phone # that you can text for help with absolutely anything, which is very convenient.
As you might expect at a place like this, virtually everything "extra" is extremely pricey. We had breakfast at the Sheerwater restaurant one morning -- food was *great* but the total bill for our 2 breakfast plates plus 2 coffees was $80. We couldn't even get into the fancy restaurant, Serea, because apparently they book up completely a week out and of course we didn't know this before arriving. Many restaurants in walking distance also tend to book up with reservations, but it was easier to get a spot for the next day at places we tried to walk up that were full. Again, food and drinks at the Sun Deck is very expensive, though our piña coladas were delicious. And there is a taco stand by the beach which is convenient for lunch if you want to stay out, but tacos are $8 each and drinks are $10+. An "all inclusive" day at their beach area costs $50 per person (per day) for a chair/lounge and an umbrella, plus food service from a dedicated server (food extra, obvs). We just rented chairs and an umbrella from Little Sam's Island & Beach Fun across the street for $24 total instead. Plus the hotel won't let you take their stuff very close to the water, so you're set back pretty far on the beach. Other than the pricey-ness, our main complaints were related to our room: the bed was not very comfortable; one night we got so much noise (and vibrations coming through the wall) from our neighbors that we slept horribly; and there were ants coming into our bathroom through a crack in the shower tile/grout. That being said, once we complained they sent someone who completely re-grouted/sealed the shower tile, so that did fix the problem.
Gorgeous Jul 2021
We stayed in The Views with a beach view. The rooms were modern, large and or course the view was amazing. Loved the taco bar, music and drinks! We booked an amazing photographer and had hair and makeup come to our hotel for a beach shoot with the Del in the background. Our photographer had us shoot down in the dunes across from 555 ocean beach around 7pm the sunset was so pretty and it captured the del perfectly.
The only negative at staying in The Views building while under construction is that you can’t park closely. We had plans and didn’t have time to wait for the luggage to be delivered, so hauling luggage was no fun for a family. Tip pack a small bag with your change of clothes, your bathing suits, etc. so you can change and have fun while waiting for your luggage! Overall the ambiance was magical and so fun!
charming hotel. will be stunning when the original building is renovatedSep 2022
we stayed in the old main building which is charming but in desperate need of renovation
Like a dream Nov 2021
We love how pet friendly the hotel is- our Pomeranian had a great time. We really appreciated how nice the staff was. The location is great. The rooms are modern and comfortable and have amazing views! The ghost tour was very interesting. The ice cream shop on site is AMAZING!
Construction war zone!!! That’s awesome hat your website should say.Jun 2021
We liked the restaurants and shops off property.
I spent the extra money and booked a nicer room with a fire pit. Nothing on booking.com mentioned a redevelopment view. When we checked in they told us we have a redevelopment view. We didn’t know exactly what that meant. Maybe a view of construction? Our fire pit, partial ocean view meant a a view of a fence, 15 feet from our door. Constant construction noise and a staff that doesn’t care about it. They said it starts from 7am-7pm. It’s currently 5:30am PST and I am awake typing this listening to a drill and hammer. I’m sure everyone complains and there isn’t anything they can do but take your money and just say sorry. Don’t stay here until it’s done. Maybe 1-2 more years. Stay away! I posted pictures of our trip on social media and most my friends commented and shared the same experience as I did.
The staff was incredibly rude, our room was incorrect then had to argue with the manager to get the correct room. Then wAug 2021
We liked the close proximity to the ocean
It was very dirty and poorly maintained for the price of their rooms.
Although we made the most of it, overall our accommodations were an extreme disappointmentAug 2021
We had dinner at their restaurant that was very good, with nice service and atmosphere. The Serea We enjoyed exploring the grounds
We booked for a King Ocean View with a balcony in the Victorian wing. But when we checked in, they said we were booked for a room in their newer tower called the Views. We did not want that room we had specifically wanted the nastalgia of staying at the original hotel and were charged $1,000.00 at the time of booking, even though your website stated that we wouldn't have to pay until check-in. Then when we checked in, we were sadly disappointed to learn that we didnt have the room we wanted. And they said there was nothing they could do since we booked through booking.com I will probably never use your website again.
5:30 was notified our room was ready. Room was not clean , dust every where and bathroom was not clean. Throw up that was poorly clean in the bathroom was one. Bath tub had mold. Those are a few things of many
Very nice service and friendly people
Construction, Victorian rooms feel closed in but they switched us to a Cabana room which was great.
Very goodJan 2020
very close to the beach
Construction!! Apr 2021
This was our first visit. The resort seems like it would be lovely under normal conditions but with significant and undisclosed construction, many amenities are unavailable. There also seem to be lots of new staff, who are not yet familiar with the changes or the property, so lots of wrong information and frustrations were experienced. I generally feel that the hotel operations fall well below the service standards currently offered by other hotels of the same caliber and would recommend postponing trips until construction is completed (estimated June 2021). I did really love the location and design of the renovated areas of the hotel, despite the poor service. The historical areas are also lovely but the subpar service standards and limited amenities really diminish the value of staying in that part of the hotel. I also love that there seem to be family oriented options and options for adult only, so it’s good for just about any type of traveler. We’d like to give it another shot someday.

Very poorAug 2021
The Zoo was amazing as usual.
The hotel was under construction and they did not tell us (we would have changed our plans). Our air conditioning and elevators were out of order. We were moved out of the main hotel and was housed in The Veiws (very modern/ new)... the build next to our balcony was under construction and started hammering at 7:00 a.m. and yes, our main elevators in that building were out of order too. We love the charm of the main old hotel del. We have stayed at the del Coronado several times in the past. But, we will never again... it was that bad, the staff was less than gracious and communication was very poor. We will not be able to talk about our memories of the del without regret of this last trip.
Should have spent at least two nights to fully enjoy the experienceJan 2022
The view was great. Was very comfortable
The view, the staff, the restaurants.
Our room was so old that it does not have any vent in the bathroom. The carpet had stained all over it. The paint was peeling off on the walls. The bathroom was rusty and gets easily clogged.
Best part of our stay was Del Services Emmie. She was polite & helpful getting our issues resolvedJul 2021
Carpets were sticky and looked dirty. Stairs were leaning to one side. Some Elevators were not in service. Customer Service never pick up their phones when called. Bathroom Sink was broken. Bed mattresses sloped on right and left sides when laying down. Restaurants were over booked and over crowded. Not enough staff to handle lots of costumers. Not enough bell hops to help with luggage which caused a 45 mitues waiting. Long wait time in line to check in and check out.
Waste of money and very disappointed.May 2021
The staff at breakfast were very nice.
No one answered the phone when we called last night to check in. We had no idea where to park- signage was poor. No valet at night. Signs pointing towards bell desk/reservation were completely wrong, making you walk the entire courtyard parameter. Our rooms floor was disgusting and dirty. The blinds for the windows did not close on one side so light hit our face in the morning. Our rooms floor sloped down towards the end of the room. Decoration was average, not high end. Extremely disappointed. Will not come back unless you renovate the rooms. Also no one Informed us that parts of the hotel were closed off so we could not visit the front lobby.
I felt a little silly spending so much money to stay here, we won't be back.Jul 2021
The staff and service really stood out. Whoever is training these people is doing an amazing job, from the front desk, to wait staff, to guest services everyone was delightful and efficient.
For almost 500 a night (room +parking + resort fees) the room should be beautifully designed, not a cheap assemblage of miss matched food stained furniture. There should be room service. The bathroom should have ventilation. Hilton is clearly spending a lot of money renovating the parts of the hotel that will bring them the most bang for their buck, and has neglected their actual rooms.
Wonderful staff and beach setting, but awful accommodations!Aug 2021
There was NO breakfast
The facility’s a/c was out of commission for our entire stay. Also, we had to wait an xtra 2 hours just to check in. The excuse given was that the previous occupants had damaged the lighting in the room. Mercifully, on the 2nd night at around 11pm the manager had a portable a/c unit brought up to our room. The room was tiny, not clean or well-equipped. That room would have been an embarrassment even in an EconoLodge! But at least the hotel was outrageously expensive!! 😟
Over priced for what you get.Jan 2022
The resort location spectacular.
The Victorian is where our room was located. For $673.00 a night - we had a room with no hot water for our showers and the room was super out dated and smelled like mold. We were totally dissatisfied and not impressed.
Great vacationSep 2021
The property is in a great location, on the beach . The employees were extremely nice and friendly.
The property is breath taking and beautiful. This historical resort does a terrific job at making you feel comfortable and pampered.
The only nice thing about my stay was the really nice waitress at the Sheerwater restaurant where I had breakfast. It was so nice to have really great service and to have met someone who was friendly and nice.
This hotel has no concern for the safety and well being of its guests. Mask mandate was not a concern to them. It was hard to get and receive help when we got to the hotel. The hotel room had stains on the floor and on one of the chairs. The front desk staff was not nice and not concerned at all about my stay there. The room was far from the hotel parking.
Avoid the Victorian roomsSep 2021
The newly restored lobby reception desk was the highlight of our time inside the hotel. Loved the beautiful views from the two sit-down restaurants and impeccable service. Lovely beachfront!
As soon as we exited the elevator to the 3rd floor of the Victorian building, the smell hit us! And the smell continued in our hotel room (and lingered for days in my clothes). Reminded me of the urine smell of a bad nursing home. Bed was the only piece of furniture in good shape. TV armoire door was beat up, chair arm was damaged, and chair upholstery was torn. The bathroom had 2 glasses stored above the toilet with nothing covering them to keep them sanitary. Incredibly disappointed. We were suppose to stay 3 nights—after that first night, we moved to another hotel in La Jolla.
The location on the beach was perfect and the hotel is absolutely beautiful! The check in process was very smooth and very friendly staff. This is definitely a destination hotel, if you choose to stay a day at the beach, offers all the amenities and has plenty of surrounding activities.
Mediocre HotelAug 2021
The location of the property was ideal. Right at the beach. Didn’t have to worry about parking and crowds.
The room felt like we were staying at a Motel, and not a resort. It was dirty, furniture was sub-par. One of the pieces had a rip in the cushion. The windows looking out towards the beach we’re very dirty. Come on!!! For $2500 for 4 nights, the Hotel Del can’t even clean the damn windows. Avoid this resort, and stay at another!!
The Del is The DelAug 2021
The location is ideal...the beach is spacious ...I mean it's The Del!
I didn't know until check in that it was going through a remodel.
Regretful! Waste of money and time.Jun 2021
The location and the staff.
View of scaffolding and construction workers off the balcony. They woke us up at 7am with banging. Totally sucked!
I was in the original building. I understand old, but I don’t understand dirty. While the linens and surfaces were cleanOct 2021
The location, and the idea behind the grand old hotel. We had wanted to stay here for decades and we’re disappointed in the attention to detail.
Overall condition of the original building was dismal.
Love the vibe , location, staff, and people are all friendly and happy there. The food not good.Jun 2022
The Hotel location is wonderful, the charming hotel could use so much more love then it receives. All Victorian rooms need new carpet they are all stained very badly. The facets are from the 90’s ( had same ones in my parents home growing up.) the staff kind helpful too notch.
All you get for $800 per night is a bed- nothing is included, most places give you Continental breakfast daily for that rate. All carpets need replacement and the Crown room is still not open for it’s original Sunday brunch.
I hope Hilton is planning a bathroom remodel soonMar 2022
The hotel is situated in an unbelievably beautiful spot. The lobby has been refurbished and it is lovely.
This is an extremely expensive hotel, we chose a room in the Victorian heart of the hotel. The bed was fine, but the bathroom was unbelievable. A small sink, toilet and shower were squeezed together in about a 4 foot square space. The toilet was so close to the sink that extreme care was called for before sitting. I am 5 feet 3 inches tall and a taller or stouter person would not have fit in the space. In my California city this spacing would not have met the building code.
Below Par and very OVERPRICEDSep 2022
The hotel is in a lovely location. next to small local town. The town was great.
This hotel is VERY overpriced. We had asked for a low floor and were put on the top floor, the room was small, and tired (as is most of the hotel) it has a stunning entrance but the parts I saw were often very tired. when i asked about our room i was told they had "missed" our request but we could move after 1 night to a lower floor but with no Ocean view which we had booked and paid extra for. The charges on top of your bill are substantial. they charge you a Resort Charge ($35 a day) . When checking out, the lady in front asked what this was and was told it was things like Wifi, water and help !! she complained and had it removed, when i pointed this out to my receptionist she removed it without even questioning it. However the worst is the beach - despite paying almost $1k a night for the hotel they charge you $130 for 2 sun beds and a beach umbrella per DAY. We used this as the pool was used by families with young children. i have stayed in many hotels world wide but NEVER been charged anything for sunbeds on a hotels private beach. This hotel is not worth the money.
Novelty visit, Once in a lift time is enought.Jun 2021
The Hotel grounds are nice and clean. We had a nice tasting over priced Margarita during sunset the first night at the beach bar. Just made it in time for the one drink then they closed the bar. So we walk down the beach path ways and back. Stop at another bar for food and drink that i was not impressed with.
First night NO HOT WATER in the room, Nor the next morning. I Talk to the Bell Men and found that many guests had cold showers as well. The one small elevator they have was last inspected in 2017. The permit to operate expired 2018. My visit was May 2021. Four years without an inspection or valid permit to operate indicates a lack of safety responsibility on the hotels part. One guest told me they were stuck in the elevator for 45 minutes the prior day till some could get them out. We all used the stairs carrying our own bags up/down after that. The phone number to the hotel, no one there to answer, leave a message and hope you get a return call. Parking two night $ 80.00 Bit much. Sents one already pay a very high rate for the room. I tried calling the hotel to speak to the facilities Supervisor about the issues but could not get past the automated looping phone system. SAD....
very niceAug 2021
The history, the vibe.
Too expensive everywhere at the hotel. The girl at the front desk should be wearing a mask!!!!!!
I’ll Never Stay There Again!Jun 2021
Well they neglected to tell us about the construction that started @6:30 am. There was no room service. Not really great if you are handicapped. In fact there was no help for handicapped people. I had to walk an enormous distance to get breakfast. This was not easy when you walk with a cane. Couldn’t believe that I had to pay for two chairs and an umbrella. 100$ for the day. You know at 500$ a night you would think it wouldn’t cost a thing. My friend said this place was on her bucket list for a place to stay. She doesn’t have to worry about that any more. No one told us that the military’s air craft would dominate the Air from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. You really needed ear plugs to deal with that amount of noise. This was not a place to relax and enjoy the beach. We were so disappointed with this place. We will never ever stay there again. I will make sure none of my friends will ever stay there.
Overall it was lovely.Oct 2022
The food was excellent for all 3 meals we had at the hotel. The room was fresh feeling and roomy. We needed longer chains on the ceiling fan and it was taken care of within a couple of hours.
The area we stayed in had some construction going on and it would have been nice to get a discount for the noise. We needed more places to hang bath towels in the bathroom.
The entire “Del” experience except for late check-in. The atmosphere in the evening was incredible especially at sunset.
Check-in. We arrived early and was told that I would receive a text message when my room was ready. We waited five hours and never received a text message. I had to go to the front desk at which time they revealed that my room had been ready for a while. We had to sit out on the beach in our clothes because of this.
Came to see the Christmas Lights. Magical, but not sure what was added by staying over.Dec 2021
The Christmas Decorations. The rollaway bed was a full, not foldable, twin.
Our original room was not available had to switch to a double with a balcony instead of a suite sleeper sofa. The new room was gorgeous, excellent location, but smaller than we planned for a family outing.
The old elevator
quite enjoyableAug 2022
the beach, gym ,beautiful property
construction outside our room, couldn't enjoy the room s outside area
Trust me! Do NOT stay at this hotel. It is not worth the money.Aug 2021
The beach and views were amazing. The hotel is relying only on that to succeed.!
1.) It took us 5 hours to check in and get a room. Our room wasn’t ready (with two little children). 2.) The hotel is under construction 3.) They allow dogs and the room next door had barking dog 4.) Our phone in room didn’t work unless on speaker phone 4.) No one answered the phone when you called 5.) No room service offered 6.) They weren’t going to clean our room, we were told we had to call (broken phone/no one answered) 7.) People we met informed us air conditioners were out on two floors in Victorian (we stayed in Views) 8.) Another family we met their phone didn’t work either and they had ants in their room (they were in the villas/cottages) 9.) No one told us WiFi password 10.) After 5 hours of waiting for our room they tried putting ours luggage in a queue to come to our room (additional time my kids couldn’t get to beach), when we asked to take it ourselves they wouldn’t get us a lobby cart. 11.) The food is expensive and horrible (I’m all about paying for food if it’s good quality and delicious). 12.) Helicopters fly over on a constant basis creating noise. The hotel is in direct flight path.
It was ok.Mar 2022
the area and ocean front, along with stellar decor
cost for what you get, restaurants closed by 8, no information on how to get a fire on the beach, a cabana by the pool or other amenities including no room service
Historical, yet modern funJun 2021
The ambiance was excellent and the staff was extremely attentive.
The rooms in the original buildings. They were old and rundown.
With honest communication through booking.com expectations could’ve been met.Jul 2022
Staff was accomodating for repair to patio so that the fire pit could be used. Also, sent wine glasses and corkscrew to room promptly.
Room was adjacent to construction with wood saw beginning at 7AM!!!! NO notification was made about this when booked with booking.com
Very goodJul 2021
Spent >$1000 a day for a great suite with amazing views and over 600 sq ft.
Construction and lack of staff as several restaurants weren’t open that much….and lunch menus had few choices compared to dinner menu.
Absolutely wonderful!!Dec 2021
So comfortable and a nice view.
The helicopters flying over.
Room was average for the price you pay. There isn’t much sound barrier either. Was woken up both nights to kids in other rooms. The bath tub was not clean when I arrived and the towels were frayed on the edges. You pay an extra fee to use a standard beach chair. Staff is very accommodating and the location is perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing beach getaway.
Rooms, noise level, cleanliness
Had a great timeJul 2021
Room in the views was beautiful, however we had no view except for a building right on top of us. Honestly, we were upgraded but I would never pay the original price to be in a dark room with no light coming in because of that. Poor planning
The rooms are beautiful in the new towers and so is the whole property!
Too pricey for an old dirty hotelJul 2021
Restaurant Serea, Sundeck and the market At the pool, server Rita was nice!
The Victorian building is dirty and stinks, the hotel flooring was uneven and tilted… creepy. Very pricey!!! Our bill was over $2,300 for only 3 nights. We are still trying to figure it our the bill… They gave us the haunted room without telling us anything. There’s no room service. The swimming pool has no view to the ocean. They are low in staff.
so fun!Dec 2021
lifetimes memories with my family I love I’ll cherish forever!!Jul 2022
proximity to the beach
rooms are a bit high in price to take a family too
Room size was a bit small, no wifi, room didn't get cleaned once, no clean towels and bathrooms need ventilation. Rooms was always muggy. Loved the place, location, restaurants and staff. Rooms need a bit of work.
Outdated/need to be redone bathrooms, flooring/carpet, balcony need major repairs This is nothing that I would not visit you again !
Ongoing construction that was not mentioned at no time. Started 6:30am
Microwave in the Room.
Major construction going on at hotel loud and not fully open
Noise and foot trafficJun 2022
I was within 15 feet 0f construction. The shower had three maintances while I was in the room. The price was premium .
I was disappointedJun 2022
For a very expensive hotel it is very lacking in services. And the rooms are old and not nice.
Paying close to 1000 a Dollars a night and the balcony has no shade. Construction everywhere without notifying us. NoJun 2021
Customer service minimal. During Construction we should be notified. Paying full rate for subpar services?
It was just ok. Need to walk far to go to the beach because they’re doing construction.May 2021
Bathroom is small in the victorian building. Bathroom looks dirty.
it’s not worth what you pay for.Sep 2022
position and classic architecture
good amenities outdated and overpricedJan 2022
pool and restaurants were good.
the rooms are overpriced and outdated. definitely not worth the money. the bathroom was also outdated
Great staySep 2021
Our room was great. We had a junior suite in the tower. Fire alarm at 5:55am wasn’t fun but understandable with construction. Check-in/out was pretty seamless and we didn’t have to wait long.
Resort prices on food.
Think twice before booking!Oct 2021
Our dinner waiter, Alexis, was wonderful and the girl that sat us was kind and thoughtful. Our ghost tour guide was also great. The location of the facility is beautiful!
We weren't even acknowledged when we arrived and went to check in around 8pm. The girl that checked us in wasn't very informative with arranging activities and meals, she just told us to refer to the paper she gave us. As a result everything was booked when we tried calling the next morning. There were several weddings or other large private parties that eliminated the use of some areas and drew the staff's focus. For the price we paid I expected many more services and amenities for guests. Everything was an additional cost. Even having a beach chair was an extra charge. It's a public beach so I can see charging the public for the use of the hotels chairs but those should be included for guests. Then at checkout they charged us the daily resort fee that we had already paid through Booking.com and even when I showed them my email confirming I paid they said Booking.com didn't pay it to them so they charged me anyway. Now I need to be reimbursed for that by someone and have to take my time to make a bunch of frustrating calls to not be double charged. It's ridiculous that I have to deal with it at all. This was NOT the 5-Star Hotel experience I expected and will not be returning and likely not use Booking.com again either.
Arrived with high expectations and left very disappointed.Jan 2022
No room service available so no breakfast.
No room service and a room refrigerator that wasn’t stocked.
Nice and clean too
Love the amenities esp. the location.❤️So relaxing!!!
wonderful resort but for the price more needs to be includedMay 2022
lots of great food options
room floor was very slanted
Location was fantastic.
My room wasn't cleaned for my two days. Not sure if there was a staff shortage, but wasn't made aware of that.
It was a beautiful place to vacation.Jun 2022
Location was fabulous. Most of the staff were very kind!
The pool was ridiculously busy with not enough attendants. It was very dirty. Young woman at bell station inside hotel was not kind.
Location right on the beach and easy walk to everything .
Felt like I was staying at any other Hilton. Room had no character. It was cold and bland.
Over priced. View tower was new and clean. Not great view. Victorian is really musty and not very clAug 2021
Way over priced. Could have stayed at another nice place for $500 less per night
Don’t stay hereAug 2021
Lot of construction. No one mentioned that prior to our arrival. Room rate did not take into account the lack of access to main entrance, lobby, and other features.
Great locationJul 2021
Dated, over priced. Seriously $43 self park and resort fee wasn’t worth the value. $70 to rent beach chairs is ridiculous
Dated, and not as clean or kept up - there was a lot of remodeling and construction. For the money, I would have like a much more clean and up to date room
Disappointed in every way except for the beach.Mar 2021
1.) Construction pounding across the hall started at 6:30am. Why were we booked in a room near the construction? 2.) Checking in and checking out took WAY too long. One staff member and a minimum of 30-45 minute wait to check in AND check out! 3.) "Breakfast included" meant a fast food pick up at the hotel's ENO Market. 4.) Extremely overpriced hotel for what we received. Expected an oceanview room for the price. 5.) Small room and no "cleaned and sanitized" sticker on the door like all the other rooms. Will not be returning to this hotel.
Location, near the beach and downtown Coronado
The bathrooms are way too small! Major construction, The ac in our room didn’t work. The room key cards didn’t work for the garage. For the amount of money we paid, was not worth it!! So disappointed, Will not go back.
Location. Location. Location.
I didn’t appreciate having a $35 resort fee sprung on me 3 days after checking out. You should include it in the price of the room.
Location, history, ambiance.
Bathroom toilet malfunctioned creating inconvenience. Small room and very small bathroom but that was to be expected. Very very busy Long lines. Staff was helpful and courteous however.
location , false advertizing by booking .com
Your company mislead me
Location, beach, pool, staff, views, cleanliness
Ridiculously overpriced, very average quality food.
Good to experience once but wouldn't return as poor value for money.Sep 2022
Location and nice restaurants in the modernised area.
Main historic building has very small rooms and bathrooms. Very expensive for what it is.
enjoyed the beautyJun 2022
location and history
hard to adequately staff a property of this size
Outrageously Expensive & Hard BedsAug 2022
It was beautiful and the staff was nice.
The beds were hard as a rock and everything was an extra cost. We paid a lot of money to stay there $3k for 3 days and nothing was included but an extra cost. We couldn’t afford to do anything extra because of the high cost. It was very disappointing. One drink was $25. Prices were ridiculous.
It was an amazing experience, and I’d love to visit again soon. Nov 2021
it’s gorgeous, and so accommodating. Love the neat, tidy grounds and historic preservation.
We would’ve expected more TV channels. That was definitely lacking. 😞
It old school vibe combined with the modern upgrade makes it an awesome stay , a little over priced but superbly managed and hospitality is excellent
Some of the rooms were only accessible by flights of stairs and the there is a vast disparity between the lower priced rooms and the primo rooms for the price they should be pretty close in comfort and service
It is a beautiful hotel with beautiful views and a lovely location however it is overpriced considering the mediocre serJan 2022
It is beautiful and clean. The nostalgia and history make it lovely. The activity outside and on boardwalk in the evening was very nice.
Many staff were often rude and/or unprofessional. Upon arriving I had to get out of my car and ask the valet if I was in the correct place as he stood talking with another employee. Our refrigerator didn’t work and the generator ran loud all night. I had to call the server over to ask for another drink while a group of them stood around talking. Directional way finding around the property was poor such as “designated smoking areas”, the valet pickup, regarding where to enter a restaurant. For example, for breakfast we went to the Sheerwater which was roped off on the boardwalk side but nothing telling us where to enter. When we asked we were told to do it “right” we had to walk around. There were many others that did the same thing and were directed with an abrupt point. To address this apparent confusion by guests the manager went out and readjusted the rope. Additionally, she met us at the hostess stand without smiling or any friendliness took us to our table and when I mentioned that ,due to the rain, there was a drip next to the seat. she looked up and then told me which of the four seats I could sit in to avoid getting wet. Additionally on the morning of our 12:00 pm checkout the maid entered our room at 9:00am after a quick knock with no time to respond. Also, about that same Tim (9:00am) we could hear the maids yelling “hello” into other rooms down the hall which seemed quite disruptive for anyone sleeping. if check out is 12:00 there should be a better way to know if the rooms are empty and ready to be cleaned than knocking on doors or yelling into rooms.
It is an historic very pretty hotel in a very nice location.
There was major renovations taking place at the time we booked which we we not aware of which limited the views and choice of restaurants at the hotel. In addition, I left some nice golf clothes in the dresser drawer and despite calling the hotel a few hours after check-out I was told that they were not found, despite the fact that the room remained vacant after our check out. Needless to say we will never stay there again.
at the end I was disappointedMay 2022
I like the new building , unfortunately the room that I got was in the Main building and it was terrible , when I complain I was moved to the new building and the room was very nice .
the location is great and also the pool area
I liked the upgrade with the ocean view
I did not like that I booked an ocean view in the Views and did not get it and my upgrade cost $160 per night. When I disputed it management did not budge even though reservationists agreed with me
I liked the location. The staff were friendly.
The room/facilities were not set up to accommodate our party and therefore the room rate was exhorbitant.
Only OK, not anxious to returnDec 2021
Hotel is beautiful and easily accessible from the airport and downtown Staff was nice Grab and Go from ENO was great for breakfast - good food but it would have been nice to sit and enjoy it there but it was too cold (even when we shut the doors) Texting Housekeeping for items was very convenient In room coffee and tea available
Poor choice of restaurant/s on site. Bar was extremely loud and no other bar alternative existed - we were looking for a steak house vibe type of bar. Only 2 casual restaurants available for seated dining The doors on the first floor were left open (I guess because they locked when closed) and it was freezing in there. No seating/small tables/sm disucssion areas in the lobby - a common place to meet No wine glasses in the room Paid for a suite with a dining room that was totally unused Much older looking furniture in room No extra blankets in room, only pillows Small bathroom with only 1 sink and barely any counter space
Loud annoying noises to wake you up each morningNov 2021
Great location and restaurants
The room we got was supposed to have a resort view. We ended up in a room overlooking the loading docks parking lot. We were woken up each morning by loud trucks backing up. This wasn't what we expected when getting the room.
Nice resort and service staff, but construction was unpleasant and overpriced for the quality.Jul 2021
Disappointed for what we paidApr 2021
For a once in a lifetime experience, if you have the money, it is nice. Beach behind hotel and nice to live an evening in fantasy land. Sad to say, I've always wanted to stay at this beautiful hotel but once was enough. .

Food was great and rooms were clean
Parking was a quarter mile away from our room. Very inconvenient for families and for a room that’s nearly $850 a night.
Very comfortable stay.Jul 2022
Food service ! Bar tenders!
Valet service. Took 25min to pull my car up and I missed my appointment. Lots of construction Very expensive!
Fabulous location, room, facilities, amenities, everything you expect from The Del. Love the beach rental service and the Ice cream shop!
Extremely limited access to rooms and through property due to extensive renovations Difficult to get them to answer phones and very limited bell service
it was lovelyMar 2022
considering how much we paid for this stay, the overall experience was not pleasant.Dec 2021
christmas theme at the hotel was a bonus
confusion during check in. assigned room was not the room that was paid for at booking.com and hotel claimed that this was the fault of booking.com. first room was terrible. had to go back to front desk to get reassigned to the correct room. had to forward booking.com confirmation emails to hotel to convince them to change rooms. at end of stay, we reviewed final bill and hotel charged parking valet services that we did not use (approx $350) and had to call them to correct this.
Loved the location but the hotel was overpriced for the current state (constuction and limited activApr 2021
Charm of old hotel.
Lots of construction going on which limited the use of facilities at hotel. Our room was old and needed repair. Floor was not level and cracks in bathroom tile.
Booking.com showed a picture of a " Victorian Studio" suite we were given a dowdy dirty room!Feb 2022
Breakfast overpriced service and attitude abysmal food cold
Speed of service food was cold silverware and crockery dirty on all 3 days we ate breakfast
Beautiful setting and location
Service level was very mediocre. Resort is very expensive, but you still need get things done on your own. The staff knows nothing about the property and their knowledge is limited to the specific task they perform. Property is being renovated, shortage of dining locations. Could not believe restaurants closed at 9 pm on a Friday night.
Very goodSep 2021
Beautiful location, room was nice and the beach was a gorgeous site to see! The vibes were amazing and we enjoyed staying at the resort most of our stay!
I didn't care for the housekeeping. They did an ok job when it can to cleaning but it seemed like every time we put the baby down to sleep they were there 30 mins later.
Very goodMar 2022
beautiful location. Loved the history and all of the old pictures around the hallways
wish we could have been able to see the ballrooms
This hotel has such potential and history - such a shame that the service and upkeep are not in keeping with the prices Oct 2021
beautiful location and great amenities outside.
Our room had ants and the issue was never resolved. Very expensive for subpar room and poor service.
Disappointing May 2021
Beautiful grounds excellent location
Not clean! Very disappointed in the way the the hotel smelled, and the disgusting dirty elevator. Our bathroom had mild and mildew in the shower and there were long dark hairs in the bathroom sink. My husband and I have short grey hair. Carpet felt sticky and dirty under our feet. Booking stated “resort view” out our window we could only see roof. It wax a lifelong dream to stay here and after spending $1000 for a 2 night stay I expected so much more. The Best Western we stayed at the night before for $80 a night was cleaned and had an ocean view!
Overpriced, under-serviced, enjoyed the beachJun 2021
Beachfront hotel, service on a the beach was impeccable, we like the streaming apps that were offered on the TV.
Check in was awful. We are silver Hilton rewards members and we came a couple of hours before check-in. She stated our room was not ready but we heard the person checking in another family ask if they would like her to find them a comparable room that was available now so they wouldn’t have to wait to 4:00. She was able to do that and they checked right in a 2:00. We were never given such an offer. Additionally, at 4:00 (check in time) we went back to the check in desk and she told us just because it was 4:00 it doesn’t mean that the room is ready. I was very confused by this but mostly upset because we had already been waiting 2 hours and now after 4:00 the room still wasn’t ready. Eventually they got us into a room. When we got to the room the t.v would not turn on. They told us to text the number on the back of our room key. Someone showed up about an hour later after my husband had pulled out the dresser got behind the tv checked all the connections and got it working himself. The number that we were told to text if we needed something was absolutely useless, pointless and waste of time. No one ever responds. Basic utensils such as a plastic spoon or fork is impossible to get. And basic customer service here was non existent for us. When we did have an issue we just fixed our selves or just did without because we didn’t even want the frustration of trying to get help.
overall is fineJul 2022
beach and spa service and mobile text service
the front of the room has something construction and the ceiling of the hotel is low
A wonderful trip to break out of pandemic near the ocean! We will return.Jun 2021
Asked to upgrade to an ocean view and got an amazing room with a deck! Amazing. Service from housekeeping was terrific. Room was clean.
Sofa bed in room could use a new mattress. Lumpy and not very comfortable. Especially for a $800+ room. At checkout, we were overcharged for our room. Online price was not honored. Had to phone and email to get a refund. Was handles well, but added stress after a wonderful trip. Updates going on around hotel, so there was some noise and amenities that were unavailable.
excellent weekendAug 2022
bucket list check offJun 2021
access to clean beach. historic value. ambiance.
ants in bathroom...broken screen on window that would have been nice to open..prices out of my comfort zone for dinner and drinks and beach chairs and umbrellas....
