Aug 2019We were in heaven from the time we stepped off the boat!! Enjoyed the comforts of home with the benefits of being secluded. We felt comfortable at the cabin with all of the amenities of home. I have no words to describe the lake views. We made sure we were up in time to see the beautiful sunrises. We loved it so much that we bought a lot in the woods just down the street from the cabin. I will tell everyone I know that is interested in going to Bois Blanc Island about the Cook Cabin. Thank you so much for allowing us to have such a nice place to stay at an affordable price. I am sure we will be back and will bring our granddaughters to let them experience the wonders of Bois Blanc Island!! Weiterlesen

Aug 2021We had a great time on Bois Blanc. The house was very nice and the view of Lake Huron was awesome. As said in other reviews you have to bring everything with you and we knew this before coming and were prepared. The beach is all rocks so you need water shoes which we brought. Probably the only negative was the biting flies on the beach. There were fly swatters in the cottage that we used but it really did put a damper on the enjoyment. There are also spiders crawling all over the rocks but they don’t bother you. You will likely have this on the beach anywhere on the island. The cottage itself was great and was well stocked with things you need. The check in-out was easy and the owner provided good instructions and information for getting around. Would come again. Jul 2020We absolutely loved staying at Cook’s Cottage. Perfect peaceful location right on the water. We spent hours watching the sunrise, skipping rocks, swimming, sitting around the fire in the evenings. The cottage is lovely, with lots of room to stretch out, read a book, play games. We listened to loons calling, watched a bald eagle fly overhead, and enjoyed watching a momma Merganser duck with her babies. We are already trying to figure out when we can come back! Weiterlesen

Well-stocked kitchen with every imaginable utensil, lots of bath towels, pillows and blankets, lawn chairs, charcoal and lighter and everything you could possibly need! Aug 2020This home was perfect for our getaway. Clean, comfortable and very private. Right on the shoreline and surrounded by trees. It was mesmerizing to sit on the beach and watch the monarchs playing in the milkweed and listen to the waves coming in and to look out over the water at distant shores and lights in the quiet night. The night sky is so dark, lots of stars!
The only thing that would be a very nice addition to this house would be a screened in back porch. The little black flies that bite are abundant. Be sure to pack the bug spray! Weiterlesen

Sep 2021So peaceful and serene. The views of LH were beautiful, spent many hours on the rocky shoreline looking out at the lake and many nighttime hours watching the shooting stars. Wildlife came right up near the house including deer, cormorants and mergansers. The property was so quiet, hard to believe there was anyone else on the island but us. The house was comfortable and homey, had all the provisions one needed to honker down for the week, pots and pans, wine glasses, even grilled some brats on the charcoal grill. Would stay again for sure. Watch the time to be outdoors as the biting flies are ferocious, especially in the morning and at dinner time. The car ferry to and from the island was easy to use, the guys were were very nice. Definitely was glad to have taken the time to drive around the island and check out the sites, worth the two-tracking roads to get to some of the spots. Miss BBI already, can't wait to go back. Aug 2020Property was everything as described and more. This is our go to rental on Bois Blanc Island. The rental is very clean and spacious. Beautiful sunrises every morning and we also saw deer on the beach a couple of mornings. The area is very quiet and relaxing. We love it so much that we bought our own lot on Lake Huron on the island. If we need to rent again, Cook Cottage will be our FIRST choice, always!!! Weiterlesen

Jul 2021Our second time here, and we absolutely loved it. Honestly, I could just spend all my time just gazing at the water. Super relaxing, lots of wildlife, we swam, read, explored, got up to see the spectacular sunrise, had campfires in the evening, watched the moon rise over the water. lake is rocky, my forty something
daughters had no problem with it. But at 70 yrs old, with my bad knee, I struggled a bit going up and down the rocky path.

Aug 2019I could have sat and stared out the back door for days. So much natural light. Such a great view. The cottage is clean with lots of seating for lounging. There's lots of information for staying on the island. The island itself, is tricky. All the roads are dirt and signage is hard. We ended up on a ATV track with our car! It took a few tries to find access to the lakes but it was all worth it. The store doesn't have a wide range so pack what you need. The people were super nice. Everyone waves as they pass. We saw deer, otters, tiny frogs, and monarchs. Kids loved skipping stones and swimming. Bring thick soled water shoes. My only suggestion would be to add some more outside seating for relaxing.
