Apr 2019We had the most amazing time here. The house was beautiful, the view stunning, and the staff was so welcoming. The beach was just a short stroll through the rice terrace. We were happy to have Mush (the house dog) guard us at night and keep us company during the day. She was such a pleasure. Spencer was friendly and made our stay so enjoyable. He communicated every step of the way and arranged anything we needed from rides to Bintang to massages. The staff made amazing fresh food for us and were so kind. The village is small calm and tucked into a beach cove with lush plants and breathtaking views. Nikki teaches yoga daily at 9am and 4pm. I definitely recommend taking a class or two. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much Spencer for making our stay so memorable and incredible.

Aug 2019This is simply the best rental I have ever experienced !
Firstly, the villa itself, its layout, furniture, garden and natural pool, and the views from the house to the porch to the sea through pool and rice fields are amazing.
Second, the service provided thanks to Spencer's careful planning and attention is fabulous: breakfast with fresh fruit and juice, homemade bread, eggs and more is wonderful. Dinner can be delivered from nearby restaurants to the villa, which we did on the first night, but afterwards once we had had a taste of the dinner cooked by Spencer's chef Putu we were hooked: chicken, duck, pig, lobster, fish, veggetarian, every single dish was to die for, not to mention the desserts such as the volcano cake, banana fritters etc...
Besides the incredible gastronomy (and luxury of being served such dinners for 8 people every night) there are many activities around which Spencer somehow managed to organise, even on short notice:
Although the surf at Balian beach is pretty demanding, some in our group did try to surf, while others preferred the atmosphere of Nicky's great yoga classes. And almost all of us enjoyed (some more than once!) the wonderful massages given at the villa in the garden.
We also liked the small trek into the rainforest ecolodge in Sarinbuana, where the guide introduced us to many plants, fruits (tasting included), and hanging vines, to the delight of teens and parents alike.
The car trip was also organised by Spencer.
The 5 minute walk to the beach through the rice field is enchanting. We played in the waves daily with our body and/or the house's boogie boards.
And we also liked the fact that even if we could stay in the villa all day long (and some of the teens did that sometimes), the walk to town (Balian) can be done via the beach in about 30 to 40 minutes, and is quite pleasant (much more than the road to town if you're on foot).
So really an amazing unforgettable stay at Pondokmatekap!
