Oct 2018We wish we had more time to stay at the Mountain Top Home. The house was more than we could have asked for. The Owner provided us with some history of the property and the area. Hope to get an opportunity to stay here again.

Jan 2021We need it some get away ... and this was just the perfect house for our huge family... the location is perfect to stay away from the city and some peace of mind ... the kids had fun we are from new yourk and we got so much space and qe enjoy every minute of it

Jul 2021We had a nice and comfortable stay at Jake and Melinda’a place. The views are majestic and it’s truly secluded. The outdoor playset was a lot of fun for kids!

Aug 2017We had a great time visiting with family and going to Cooters Last Stand in Luray. The house was plenty big to accommodate everyone. The downstairs was a bit musty but we stayed up stairs the whole time so it wasn't an issue. I also wasn't expecting it to be so off the beaten path but that was nice as well. There is hardly any phone reception and no wifi but who doesn't need to unplug every once and a while! Thank you for helping us make memories!

Oct 2020We had a great time staying here! There was more than enough room for us to have privacy, cook together, and enjoy our meals in the dining room. Watching the sunset on the deck swings is a huge plus! This home is clearly filled with generations of love. Thank you for letting us stay on your beautiful property.

Beautiful place on the upstairs patio to hang out and watch the sunrise ! Sleeping arrangements were perfect for 12 guys … our stay couldn’t have been better !!! Thanks so much !!

Apr 2019Very nice house, great views, reasonably close to main attractions in the area.
Two points to note. First, the property slopes away from the house in all directions
at a pretty steep angle. The pictures don't really convey this, but there wasn't any place where the kids could play ball.
Second point is that the master bedroom is located at the opposite end of the house away from the rest of the bedrooms. This may be of importance for some families.
Wish these points were stated more clearly in the listing.

Jan 2021This is a big, beautiful home. Great for families all year round. Our family went for a ski trip. It was great to come back to the house in the evenings and relax in the family room. We made fires every night, which was something we don't get to do in our suburban home. Walks in the morning were wonderful in the fresh mountain air. We played games, watched movies, made s'mores over the fire and had a great time!

Jul 2017Owners represented the property well. There were no surprises. To be honest, the pictures didn't do it justice. Rooms were larger than they appeared in the pictures. We would definitely stay there again. The cement driveway was a definite plus. We have stayed in other places were it was difficult to climb the driveway to the home. Cell coverage was very limited on the property and throughout the area, but we were informed of that upfront. It was actually refreshing to be forced to disconnect!

It was decorated with pictures that allowed visitors to witness a young family grow up. Some of its walls were decorated with childhood pictures, family vacation pictures, and pictures of past generations, as well as the family's grown children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, we were not able to stay and witness the promised stunning mountain views. We left about an hour after we arrived to the property when we realized that there was way to communicating with the outside world. There was no cell reception or land line. We couldn't find a way to reach our hostess. For personal reasons, we needed to be reachable and be able to make calls. It was not possible.We contacted our hostess in two occasions to let her know that we left earlier. She never returned our calls.

Aug 2020It's a wonderful property, very well maintained and clean, with nice view of mountains and best place for stargazing. We (a group of 8 friends) went to the place for a farewell party. And we had an amazing experience. Away from digital noise. Melinda is also such a wonderful host. I would totally go back to this place in fall for fall colors.

Jul 2019Due to unexpected circumstance, we booked this property at the last second. So glad that this property has Insta approval. Bit further from the Shenandoah National Park but gorgeous setting on hilltop & loads of privacy.

Feb 2020Awesome place if you are skiing at Bryce with a big group. House was very unique and homie! Only problem we had was the presence of quite a few lady bugs in both bathrooms.
