Dec 2020We worked remotely from the house for three weeks and loved it. The WiFi is not strong enough to handle multiple video calls but everything else was perfect! Can't wait to stay here again!

Jun 2020We really enjoyed our stay. To be objective, I will list both pros and cons from our point-of-view, but I will say - the pros outweighs all of the cons and you should definitely consider this property. The Cons are all minor:
Pros:
Very Clean, Well Stocked, Comfortable, plenty of seating and bedding, plenty of amenities, hot tub, cable TV (flat screens) in multiple locations, fast internet, lots of kitchen utensils and appliances. It was an easy walk to the beach and the beach is beautiful. It is a very quiet area - no other houses right on top of you. Plenty of room to spread out on the beach. Beach toys, floats, and chairs available at the house. Fairly new washer and dryer. Great value for the price. Hot tub was well maintained.
Cons:
Parking is adequate, but it is a little tight to turn around. The steps are a little narrow for hauling luggage and groceries up the steps. The porch steps are somewhat steep. About 10 miles from a grocery store, not many restaurants within 10 miles. The entrance road was a little bumpy.
In conclusion, we will stay here again. It is perfect in this price range. We love the location - away from the hustle and bustle.

Jul 2020We really enjoyed our stay here. Just a short walk to the beach, or a coffee shop. Lots of space for our family of 8 plus our dog. It was our first trip to the OBX and it set the bar high.

Dec 2020We love Rodanthe and the beaches. The beaches are beautiful. This property was incredibly dirty. The sheets were not clean upon arrival, the bathrooms were not clean upon arrival, the carpet is very dirty, the kitchen sink had mildew building up behind it, the main floor tub has mold growing around the faucet and spout, and we found 3 dead cock roaches.
They have the guests wash towels and sheets for the next guests. I’m assuming the prior guests did not wash them as the one was covered in dog hair and the other covered in long brown hair.

Aug 2021We loved our week in this house in Rodanthe. The house is laid out extremely well, with plenty of room and privacy. It is in a tiny neighborhood off the beach, with an easy walk by grassy wetlands with wildlife. The beach was not crowded, and it’s wide and flat near the house. The house owner responded immediately to one question we had. We couldn’t ask for a more relaxing stay. Thank you!

Sep 2022We have stayed at OBX many times, but previously northern OBX, never Hatteras Island. The house itself is very nice, clean, well kept, lovely view of the sunset. Hot tub likewise clean and well cared for, we got a lot of use out of it. Also appreciated small touches like the foot wash at the base of the stairs. Our biggest problem was the lack of places to get food. We cook at home all the time, and when on vacation we like to treat ourselves and eat out or get carry out or delivery. There are only 3 or 4 restaurants in Rodanthe, most have limited hours, and many close on the same days. Only one place delivers, and that’s the pizza place. Even the Beans and Beads Bakery that we’d been looking forward to for its fresh pastries every morning was closed much of the time we were there. The grocery store (Food Lion) is about 30 minutes away in Avon, and the only ABC store on the island is 30 minutes away in Buxton. The place we relied on most was Waves Deli, about 5 minutes away, fantastic little store with an amazing beer and wine selection and real down home food with quality ingredients and generous portions, fairly priced. In summary, would definitely recommend the house, it was clean, well equipped, and comfortable. The beach was about an 8 minute walk and lovely, with very few people about . Just know that meal options are limited unless you want to cook or drive serious distances. To be fair, I would give this house 5 stars except for the location—but that’s just us, others may love the remoteness.

Jun 2021We enjoyed our stay! House was beautiful, clean, and had all amenities for a lengthy stay! Property was clean and well kept. I will say that the bed we used was uncomfortable, other than that, fantastic! It rained a lot while we were there, so having cable, and wifi really helped! We will definitely be booking again next year!

Jul 2021We came with our daughter and some friends. There was plenty of room. The kitchen was very well appointed with more than enough cookware and storage containers. We really appreciated the filtered water through the refrigerator. The very top deck was wonderful for watching the gorgeous sunsets. My husband had a permit to drive on the beach (you have to have 4-wheel drive vehicle for that) so we didn’t utilize the walk to the beach from the house…we just loaded up our gear and drove our truck onto the beach a few miles from the house. We loved that the home was pet friendly. The foot wash at the bottom of the steps was wonderful and prevented us from tracking in so much sand! It was a wonderful relaxing week.

From towels to dishes and toys/chairs for the beach. Will definitely stay here again. Maybe in may next year so we can swim more. Also the neighbors were friendly and welcoming.

Got to Enjoy the Beach when ever any body wanted to go on their on . Would recommend this Home to anyone, but thought there was more stores/shop closer to the home , but my boys didn't mind walking/ riding their bikes to the different places . Also liked that there was plenty of Beach Chairs/ beach toys / boogie boards & skim boards there to use .

Oct 2020This was a great place for a few relaxing days at the beach. The price was just right. The property is a short walk from the beach, pet friendly (our dog had so much fun on the beach too!) and had everything we needed (beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.) We would definitely come back.

Oct 2020This property is in a great location. It is a great price for the amount of space that you will receive. The house is exactly as described. Even though the decor is a little dated, it is very much on theme with this being a beach house. Close to the beach. Loved the fact that the house is hidden and the neighbors are very nice. The decks are wonderful for hanging out, enjoying the sun and drinking your morning cup of coffee. The kitchen is very well equipped with all of the comforts of home. Steve was very nice and prompt to help with problems that came up.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. However, we did have some cons. We picked this property mostly for the hot tub. We were able to enjoy it the first night, but the hot tub had issues even with Steve coming over to fix it. Secondly, there were many beach chairs available but they were all rusted. Not surprised due to being near the beach. Lastly, Steve was over a lot...for our taste. Even though, he was nice and pleasant and very personable, we just found it very odd. For example, he mowed the grass twice and we were only there 3-days. This morning (approx. 8am) we opened the door to see him on the porch, cleaning the hot tub. While I assume that he does most of the house cleaning himself and wanted to get a jump start, it was very surprising especially first thing in the morning. We have rented houses before and barely saw the house owner. We felt like we could not really enjoy ourselves because we did not know if/when he was going to pop up. This morning especially we felt as if our time was being encroached on/being timed, even though we were leaving. Not the best stay, not the worst, but definitely a one time deal!

Jul 2020This home was perfect and in a perfect location. The cleanliness of the home was phenomenal! No need to bring boogie boards, chairs or sand toys. It was all there! Owners were great with communication before check in. Answered all of my questions very quickly! We would definitely stay again with out hesitation!

Aug 2022There were 9 of us, and we LOVED this home! It was beautiful, well-maintained, in a peaceful, quiet, private setting, and the views were also magnificent from the 3rd floor deck area. The house is bigger than the pictures look like, and we had plenty of room and space. The hot tub is wonderful, and clean. The only thing negative at all, that I heard from family, is that the full sized bed is too firm and hurt some backs. Otherwise, there were no complaints. Stephen responded quickly and was always very kind. We had one of our best family vacations ever, and will never forget this trip. Thank you!!
