Jul 2020We wanted to get away from the noise of 4th of July and found the perfect place with Chris. Clean, nice property and easy access to the river. Would definitely stay again.

This house is a about 3 miles north of town in a micro-community with its own general store. It’s very quite and feels like a million miles away from the noise and chaos of the village. The house was charming and very well looked after. Pictures of Hemingway hanging with a smatter of antiques. It’s across the road and a few minutes walk from the river. Don’t come here to party and make noise, you can do that in town. Come here to enjoy the area, sit outside and BBQ enjoying the quietude.

Dec 2016We heard about this place from a friend, not from this web site. The weather was warm, but the house swamp cooler did the trick. Afternoons sitting in the porch misters watching the mountains was so relaxing. Fishing "I got skunked". My son on the other hand was on fire. Really good size trout. Big enough to make a meal. This is a home. It is furnished with everything you could need, just like home. Kernville is a small town, that has great food and lot's of friendly people. We went half day river rafting on the lower Kern. 3 and small 4's rapids. We have rafted in a lot of places. It had been a long time so we started slow. Great time by all. Went back for more.
You can hear the river at night. Smell the fresh air and be stunned every morning and afternoon by the scenic beauty all around you. I have returned three times to this home and will come again and again.

Dec 2017We had a wonderful stay. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and easy to find. We cooked a Christmas feast for the whole family and got to visit with the kids and grandkids. Love the area and cozy home to stay in. Thank you so much!

The private little beach was perfect for my kids…beautiful, not crowded, calm waters for swimming, a small rapid nearby good for fishing, within walking distance from the house, and overall made our moments on the River enjoyable. The host was very communicative beforehand and pleasant to work with. Neighbors were very friendly. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend!

Aug 2021We had a great stay! The house was clean with ample room for my husband and I, a friend of ours, and our two dogs. The location can't be beat. You are a short walk to the Riverkern General Store, which has amazing breakfast burritos. The private beach was also only a short walk away. We would definitely stay there again.

Nov 2016This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Chris's house and will probably not be the last. It has all the charm and amenities you expect from a home away from home and then some. Such a peaceful setting and so many local sites to see. We feel very at home here and the owners are very friendly and communicative and easygoing. It has become a very special place for us and I can't recommend it highly enough!

Aug 2022The RiverKern area is a nice quiet community not far from amenities and activities. Stay was pleasant and enjoyable. access is very easy and flexible. Chris was very informative on many things.This rental will be considered in any future stays.

Sep 2017There was plenty of room for us (3 adults and 2 children) the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with pots pans and utensils and ample room for seating in the dining area. The temperatures during our stay were in the 3 digits (104) but the swamp cooler kept the home very comfortable for all of us.
I have been coming to Kernville since I was a teenager and the area is just wonderful for fishing, swimming, hiking antique shopping and Kernville events.
We enjoyed the private bubbles beach only a short walk away and made use of the general store located only a short two blocks away.
Tubing from the electric plant down to the kernville bridge was a blast! as well as our trip to the ghost town named Silver City.
All in all we had a wonderful trip! thank you Chris!

Sep 2016The property worked perfectly for us. Our group consisted of two couples and a teen. The house is not fancy, but who wants fancy when you are hiking and tubing? There is plenty of bedding, decently appointed kitchen, and a spacious living room. We used the grill both nights and were able to watch the opening of the college football season. The swamp cooler kept us comfortable in the summer heat and the misters are a great touch.
Best of all the house is walking distance from a beach that normally has limited access to locals only. Even on Labor Day weekend it wasn't too crowded and we were able to paddle and float in our tubes.
Chris was prompt and responsive and everything matched what he said.

Jul 2020Owners are so responsive. The house has everything you need. Porch is really enjoyable for your morning coffee or evening wine. The location is in the heart of Kernville right down the street from general store.

Aug 2021My whole family really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and well stocked for our needs. The owners answered my emails very quickly and were great to work with. The private beach was a hit with my 11 year old. The drive to town was easy and to get to the trail of 100 giant was fun. The two main ways to Kernville are mountain passes and if you are prone to motion sickness I would suggest taking something for it. The house is not really close to anything bit it was fun taking drives around the forest. I would very much recommend this house for a nice relaxing vacation.
