We really enjoyed our stay near Burnsville. The house was the perfect size for 4 adults plus one dog. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking, and the house is in tip top shape with a lovely screened porch. The beds and many chairs are very comfortable, and there is room to spread out. This house is fairly remote from most services, so make sure you bring your favorite must-have snacks and drinks. One family member was working remotely while the rest of us vacationed, and he had no difficulties with the internet service. We spent some time exploring the area and enjoyed a number of hikes and waterfalls, and spent one evening in Burnsville relaxing over great pizza and beer. It was a very relaxing change of pace and we would recommend this to anyone!

We had a wonderful time with friends in our "bubble". The home is lovely and the views from the two screened in porches is amazing. We found the Lower Crabtree waterfalls - and they were gorgeous. This was a great time away for us all.

We had a wonderful time and the home was very comfortable and quiet. It was a little too remote from stores and restaurants, but the atmosphere was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the porches and the fact that the backyard is fenced in. The beds are very comfortable. The only complaint we have is that the kitchen was not as clean as we would've liked. The silverware holder was dirty and the dust was thick in some of the lower drawers. We had to clean all that out before we felt comfortable cooking. There was also hair in the washing machine. We had a relaxing visit at this property. Check-in was simple and everything is as advertised. We originally planned to bring our dog with us and this site would have been perfect (complete with kennel), but he sadly is no longer with us. Loved the location, though one should plan groceries ahead of time to minimize the need for a 20-minute trip to town for necessities. The only knock for cleanliness comes from what we perceive to be an air filter issue as we felt a bit allergic throughout our visit. We would stay here again, for sure.

We found the cottage to be well-supplied with everything needed for a comfortable stay. I can’t say enough about how wonderful the screen porch is, which is elevated and feels like a treehouse. The kitchen is outfitted with everything needed to cook meals, but there is also takeout available from a resort inn nearby. The Blue Ridge Parkway is easily accessible from this location. Although the area is remote we felt very safe, and it was wonderful to bring our pets with us for our stay. I look forward to returning next year.

Very relaxing spot. Loved the screen porch, listening to the birds whileI drank my coffee. Was able to bring the dog which is a majorplus. Nice little fenced in yard so she could go out. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. A bit of a drive to get anywhere but thats the point right - to get away. Didnt want to leave!

Unfortunately it rained every day and night. But fortunately we had a comfortable home to hunker down! The pup loved the screened porch-and we did too. The kitchen is probably the best equipped we have seen. The roads are great to the cabin. The lane to the cabin is rough but it's a very short distance. We used our GPS and it took us directly to the cabin. Because of the rain we had a quiet, relaxing vacation. And maybe that is exactly what we needed!

This was a perfect get away for my mom, her dog, my kids and myself. The porch was everything. We ate out there, relaxed out there. It was great. We loved the location and house. Would certainly love to return.

This property was as advertised with the porch being our favorite place to relax. The house was well-equipped. We enjoyed adventuring out to Mt Mitchell, Roaring Fork waterfall, Set Rock Creek Falls, and downtown Burnsville.

This place is the best spot for a weekend getaway, amazing views and great accomodations. The house was clean and beautifully decorated but not so over the top that it was hard to enjoy. The fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs and the screened in porch was great for relaxing.

This is the second year we rented for Christmas at this location, and the third year we rented with Gary for Christmas. He always responds to my random questions and our stay is always nothing short of perfect. We bring the three dogs and have a week of relaxing, cooking, watching movies, and building fires. Thank you so much for opening up your home to us year after year!

The property was perfect for our family vacation. It had all we needed and more. All aspects are true to those in the listing. I definitely recommend !

The property was great. Great views, peaceful and in good shape. The multiple bedrooms were a must and appreciated by our kids. The spread out room was great and we enjoyed the outdoor screened in porch.

The property is exactly as it is represented in the photos. The screened porch is far nicer and relaxing. The views of the mountains are wonderful. We loved our stay. It is a distance from anything. The closest grocery is about 16 curvy miles. I would suggest you bring your food. The kitchen is one of the best equipped I have ever stayed in. We would stay here again for sure

The house was very nice, decorated well and stocked with all you need. My only complaint, and my fault for not knowing the area, it was so far from everything….35 minutes to grocery, and further still to any attractions. I was happy to bring my dog along and all furnishings were very comfortable.

The house is very well-equipped. We cooked a lot and found a good selection of utensils and cookware, as well as some ingredients left by the owner/prior renters. In fact, there were lots of helpful extras throughout the house. We ate almost all our meals in the sunroom, as it has glass sliders and was warmer in the morning and evening. The huge screened porch got plenty of use, too -- great place to relax, read, and just enjoy the gorgeous mountain view through the trees. We only used the MBR, but it was very roomy. There are ceiling fans in every room except the kitchen. One note not in the listing: You can't leave your pet alone at the house, inside or out (no exception indicated for crating). Selling points of the house for us were the fenced backyard and the ramp, since our senior dog has trouble with stairs. The location of the ramp isn’t clear from the photos, so here are details on the ease of entrance and fenced-in yard if those matter to you: The “front” door of the house is at the top of a long flight of stairs, topped by a small landing. To get to the ramp, you can go behind the house (up 8 wide railroad-tie steps--not in great shape, but no incline after that) or around the front (no steps, but up a small hill to the ramp). The ramp leads to the sunroom, and is within the fenced-in part of the yard. The surroundings were a little disappointing. The yard is beautiful, but there are no scenic walks off the property. The only place to go is downhill on the road. The neighbors have three beagles that ran free all afternoon and into the evening. If they were out when we left the house or sat in the sunroom, they barked continuously (coming up to the fence, into the unfenced part of the yard, and following us on walks). They don’t get closer than a few feet, but they are annoying at best and if you have a sensitive child or dog, they could be intimidating. Thankfully, we did not hear them early in the morning or late at night. All considered, an enjoyable stay. Our main purpose was relaxation and a change of scenery, but we did visit Roaring Fork and Setrock Falls. Both were beautiful. The grocery store at Busick Work Ctr is handy, too!

the home was set way up the mountains, very quiet. We loved the screened in porch and the fenced in yard for our dog. Can't go to the mountains without him, so it worked out great. NC is so beautiful.

The home had amazing space for our family and an absolutely beautiful screened porch. The rooms could have been a little cleaner - dusty in areas - but the home was very well stocked with anything we needed.

The 'Great Escape' was perfectly located for seeing the fall leaves and all their colors. It is definitely 'in the mountains' and away from the hustle and bustle. At the same time, the location provides easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, waterfalls, Mt Mitchell and nearby towns. The place is roomy, well furnished, and the screen porch was super. A very relaxing, refreshing stay in the mountains.
