Jul 2020While this was the second time my wife and I stayed at this Balboa Island Cottage, I can gladly attest to the amazing communication that the owner and property manager provides their guests. Excellent location to Marine Ave. (main street), and only two blocks from the bay. If you are looking for a cozy island getaway for two, this is the cottage for you!

Nov 2021We are frequently on Balboa Island for work and pleasure. Evan's property is perfectly described, maintained, and outfitted. It is located on top of a garage with no shared walls. We hope to stay at this special beach cottage many more times in the future.

Oct 2021very clean and cute place. location is great as it's just a block from the main street and restaurants. also a plus that ferry is close as well. one of few places I found that has a garage which is a must! with all the running around we did we only used for sleeping, showering, and getting ready for the day. would 100% use again.

Aug 2022This property was cute, small but fine for 2 people. Nice being so close to downtown, all the restaurants and Dads for Balboa bars and all the bouquet. Never drove are car once. We walked everywhere. I would definitely stay here again.

Aug 2020This is one of the loveliest homes to stay in. The attention to detail is amazing. The home is very clean and well decorated. The location is perfect- easy to walk to shops and restaurants and beach! Only issue is sometimes it’s a bit loud because it’s on the corner of a Main Street. However, that does not in any way detract from the home overall. Would highly recommend and consider staying in the future :)

Balboa parking is impossible so having a garage is a huge win - just make sure you’re driving a reasonable small vehicle (rental mustang fit perfectly). Good value, great location and easy communication with the host. Only thing I’d note is that around 7am when the island starts getting busy with car and foot traffic, it will get pretty noisy in the bedroom. Otherwise, highly suggested.

Jul 2021This cute property was accurately represented through the photos online. We were happy to have the garage for our small car. The cottage lacked some basic supplies when we arrived, but the owner had the housekeeper return late that night to replace some of them. (Unfortunately we had already bought some things because we needed them.) Also, there was no coffee provided, nor extra trash bags. The cottage is on the corner of a busy through street (for Balboa) and is in the direct flight path of planes leaving the airport, so noise was definitely an issue. It's a great location for access to the main street and for walking around the island. Please provide more than one bath towel per person. (Most women like two!)

Jul 2021This cute cottage is absolutely perfect for 1-2 people and in a prime location to the main street on the Island for shopping and eating. The garage is a must have but please know its quite small and wouldn't fit my 2017 Honda Pilot which was unfortunate but the owner let me know I could park in front of the garage instead, which was very helpful! The cottage is very clean and updated while maintaining its historical charm. Washer and Dryer, BBQ and patio are nice bonuses as well!

I was not aware that the property was above a garage, which was not a joy killer, but made for a non-cottage like experience and meant going up and down the stairs to the outside area was not exactly what I had foreseen.

Oct 2020The property is smaller, but just the right size for two people. It is located within walking distance to the main stretch of shops on Balboa Island. For us the garage parking made the trip so much easier. We noticed many others searching for an open parking spot. It is a second story apartment over a two-car garage. We were able to have a late-night check-in. We did not use the kitchen (we just ate out).
I'd be happy to stay there again.

Jul 2019The photo of the house is NOT THE COTTAGE. The cottage is a space above the garage, not in the photo, down the alley behind the trash cans and up the stairs. I think all of this should be the photo, not this house. I was so confused to arrive and see the house full of guests and find out I was staying upstairs above a garage that was down an alley behind the trash cans. Oh and with no air conditioning. I think to be fair all this needs to be in the listing. Inside this space is decorated like a doll house, It is cute as a bug but it needs to be listed as it is. It is a unit above a garage down an alley. With no air conditioning the planes take off every 3 minutes from 6am to 10pm. That noise is VERY LOUD.
The listing mentioned a patio and a table with an umbrella, there is no Patio, that is all for the main house along with the lisitng of the BBQ. The listing just needs to be cleaned up to clearly state what you will actually get.

Jan 2020Such an adorable cozy little place! Two blocks from Main street and all the gret shopping, three blocks to the Village Inn for Monday night bingo and Tuesday night Trevia, a block to the beach. I loved the details of the little apartment, great shower, a kitchen with everything you need to cook, beautiful fridge. The whole place is so airy and bright with a comfy sofa to plop down on and a yummy bed to snuggle into at night. Having a parking spot is a important on the island especially on the weekend so having a garage is a luxury! I loved it. Had a wonderful time and look forward to going back as soon as I can!
