May 2017We totally enjoyed our home away. It was low key, inviting, enchanting, beautiful area with fishing pond, kayaks, and tennis courts. The property included so many extras to use along with supplying towels and sheets. The owners are renovating and improving the property. Thanks you so much!

Jul 2016We have just returned from a fabulous visit to Eastham and Cape Cod. Our party consisted of 2 families - so 4 adults and 4 kids and another adult traveler. The house was perfect in terms of size and privacy for all concerned. The owners details are perfect to describe the house and we were certainly not disappointed. The location could not be better to explore the local area by bike or walking and Eastham is an excellent base with quick access to all parts of the Cape. We visited Provincetown one day (you can get a 90 min ferry to Boston city from here) - and got there in less than 40 mins and also to Hyannis to get the ferry to Nantucket Island - also less than 45 minutes. Orleans the next town over is great for a variety of restaurants, grocery stores and an excellent self serve ice-cream shop (the local scoop - a big hit with all !!).
We shopped in the stop and shop in Orleans or the local superette (excellent for sandwiches and subs and last minute items - only a short stroll from the house ), cooked breakfast in the house, made lunch after a visit to the pool or kayaking in the pond and then usually off to the beach and out for dinner - huge range of restaurants - we found mac's shack in wellfleet our no.1 choice. We rounded off each evening by lighting up the outdoor fire and sipped cold beers!! (theres also a gas bbq that we used a couple of nights).
parking is free after 5 at the local beaches ($20 per day) - check out a weekly pass if you're a beachgoer and parking can be difficult after 11-12 on some beaches.
Our favourite things about the house were:
Location and value for money for the number of people in our group
The house is very well stocked in terms of cooking, outdoor eating, towels, linen (all provided), laundry facilities etc
Huge range of possible activities to keep kids occupied as all outlined in owners notes : the Ping-Pong table and pool room were a big hit
Fabulous as a base but also great to chill out in the evenings
Quiet location - most days we had the pool and pond to ourselves
Owners great to deal with &gave us huge amount of info on the area and a great list of "what's good to do" .
One or two of our party found the traffic noise a little annoying in the mornings but I personally did not notice.
There is no aircon in the house but it is so big and there are plenty of window fans provided that we felt it was not really needed - we're from Ireland so we are not really used to warm night time temperatures!

Sep 2020We had such a lovely time on Cape Cod. Specifically Eastham. The house was super comfortable and conveniently located. Our hosts were gracious and communicative. Could not have imagined a better experience.

Sep 2015Very nice place, but in need of some updates which I feel is properly reflected in the price. Bedrooms were spread out allowing for larger groups to retire at the end of night. Only negative for us was the amount of breakable things withing reach of our two year old. There were glass lamps and glass nick nacks all over the place and the TV wasn't anchored. Great place, right price needs some updates but not for little ones.

Oct 2022There is ONE master and three additional bedrooms, one of the bathrooms does not work (neither the sink nor the shower drain at all). The owner acknowledged that he should change the listing to accurately describe the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. We did not receive what we thought we had bargained for (2 masters, 2 additional bedrooms). The entire house was dirty - dusty, and grimy. I spent the first day cleaning everything myself and it still felt dirty. Not to mention the ants and roaches everywhere. Beware.

Jun 2021The house was a little old, but you could tell that the owners are making good progress in fixing it up. All the appliances are brand new, and the new air conditioners all worked well. The house is well equipped in every possible way. We really enjoyed having a tennis court almost entirely to ourselves. The only drawback is that it is for all practical purposes, right on route 6, and the turn going in and out is a bit treacherous. We brought bicycles to ride on the rail trail, but you had to ride on Rte 6 to get there. Other than that, it was really nice.

Jul 2017The house is nice and big with many modern amenities, mixed with old school cape motif. It's very different - very comfortable but has all the cool things you want, Netflix, wii, pool, lake, kayaks, bikes! The owners give you plenty to do so you don't need to lug a lot down with you. Overall it was wonderful!

Aug 2015The first impression of this house is that it has lots of space, with plenty of separation between sleeping areas to accommodate people on different sleep schedules. And doubtless an interesting history. It seems to have been three cottages that little by little were expanded and joined together; it is almost as if it has three wings...perfect if that makes one for each subunit of the family. With a nice big living room, plus a 'library' and a few nooks, a group can have as much togetherness or separation as it wants even if you get a spell of foul weather. The one downside (if this is important to you) is that from the Master2 bedroom, you have to cross the kitchen and living room to get to the bathroom.
The bathrooms ranged from good enough to quite nice; the kitchen was fully modernized within the last quarter century - OK, maybe its not up-to-the-minute but its fine, everything works and its big enough if a bit tight to prepare dinner for full complement of 9 poeple on board. The laundry in contrast is straight from the future, it took my old fashioned self a few minutes to figure which buttons to push to do what. (it functioned beautifully). There is enough in the house that was obviously new and updated to support the owners statement that improvements will be ongoing.
The patio is nice and private, being surrounded by the 'wings' of the house. The patio table only seats 4 or crowds 6, but we had fortunately brought a folding table to extend that. The swimming pool is right next door and is quite nice and well maintained; it was 8 feet deep in the deep end, doubtless built in the days that they allowed diving (no diving board), there was a rope to separate the deep from the shallow (3 feet). Right next to the pool was a fun little playground that got great reviews from the 8 to 10 year olds. The pond with the kayaks is a few hundred yards farther.
The house fronts on to Rt 6. The noise was only a minor issue only from the master bedroom only on nights hot enough to need windows open on both sides. Being on Route 6, it has very convenient access to Coast Guard Beach, the public boat launch at Nauset Marsh (if you bring your own kayak), and also easy access to First Encounter Beach or Rock Harbor if you want the warmer sheltered water of the bay side.
I would definitely recommend this house if its specs meet your needs, especially if you enjoy a place with a bit of character.

Aug 2018Some old highschool buddies and I brought our families. We didn't ever have more than 3 families here at anytime, which was perfect. Our kids were ages 4-9 and there was plenty of fun to be had just outside the door. The house came with a very clean pool, kayaks, fishing (and a pond just outside) gear, tennis, bball, beach chairs and other beach toys, rafts, Nintendo, wifi, bikes, etc. Linens, towels with a washer/dryer also! This made is very nice for a visit from California since we didn't have to bring a whole bunch of extra stuff. We cooked pretty much every meal there. The house itself is pretty funky - not in a bad way. It feels like a granny flat was attached to a small cabin which was attached to a garage with a loft. The bedrooms were pretty far apart which made it nice for privacy.Owner was responsive to messages too.The cape cod bike trail is very close as well as a bike rental place. It was perfect for us with young kids. I'd love to visit again.

Sep 2019Previous reviews are accurate and provide lots of details. I will simply echo that the house is dated but has lots of fun “character” with lots of extras/supplies. There is plenty of room to spread out. Two things not previously mentioned: The kitchen needs remodeling which the owner said is planned to be done soon. The second floor master bedroom has multiple windows that face the highway so noise from the highway is bothersome even with the windows closed - simple earplugs are recommended for a good night’s sleep.

Aug 2016Overall very positive. All other reviews are right on... This is a property on the way up. Owners are in process of upgrading this tired property. It has nice space with separation of rooms for some privacy or as I case allowing younger ones to go to bed earlier and not be disturbed by the rest of the group. My recommendations for priority improvements would be to put screens in all windows to allow for more breeze since there is no A/C and to change the cleaning company as our overall impression was that the property was not very clean, only very superficially done. Cleaniless may not be as important if rented by a group of adults that are out at the beach everyday but if tailoring to families it is important when you have little kids.
As I said overall property was good and in a great location. If we have another family gathering in the future I would consider staying here again.

Jul 2019Overall this was a good experience. The location was exceptional, beaches, shopping and excursions all close by. The house still needs some finishing touches but for my family of 9 it worked out well. Only complaint was the heat as we were all used to central air.

Sep 2021Our family had a great time. The house was spacious and incredibly well equipped. We bought our own food but otherwise had precious little to think about other than enjoying out time there. Right on the property we also enjoyed the pool, made use of the pond (kayaking), and just hung outside and relaxed a lot. There's a lot more not far from the property. We did a lot of biking (you can easily/safely get from house to the bike trail by biking along the sidewalk on route 8, and bang a left when you get to the Superette), visited many beaches (including by bike), restaurants, walks/hikes, and much more.
