Sep 2022We loved the lake access, it was perfect! We swam and fished and kayaked. The weather wasn’t great but we made the most of it!

Jul 2008We just returned from our week at the Mad Moose and we had a terrific time! The sandy beach and shallow entry were perfect for our three kids and pup. The kids loved being able to run down to the lake anytime they wanted to fish, swim and kayak. I didn't worry about them since the water is shallow for a good way out. The home was comfortable and very clean -- typical Maine cottage but with updated fixtures and amenities that make for a pleasant stay. The lake is quiet, not much traffic and the only sounds you hear at night are the frogs and loons. Perfect!

Jul 2019We had a wonderful week at the Mad Moose! No cell service, no WiFi... just swimming, kayaking, reading, and campfires! My son even found wild blueberries in the yard and loved picking the ripe berries every morning. This is the perfect spot to unwind and reconnect!

Dec 2008We had a wonderful vacation at the Mad Moose. The lake is nice and quiet and the location is close to many attractions; North Conway, Mt. Washington and Bridgeton. The cottage itself is cozy and the beach is clean and sandy with a long gradual entry that is perfect for children. An added plus was that we could take our dogs with us so they could enjoy a great vacation as well.

Sep 2022We had a wonderful time at the Mad Moose. The lake was perfect for our kids to swim without any type of floaties. Also, they loved the bunkbeds and all of the books and games. All in all, we had a great trip!

Oct 2020We had a wonderful, restful fall getaway at the Mad Moose. The property was just rustic enough to give you the full Maine camp experience, while providing all the amenities necessary to enjoy a home away from home. Right on the lake and views from the cabin windows are spectacular! Loved having the rowboat and kayaks at our disposal. Our lab was in heaven splashing around in the shallow, sandy beachfront.Paula is a pleasure to work with and accommodated our request for an extra day stay so that we could go over to New Hampshire and take the scenic train tour through the White Mountains. We'll be back!Lisa and Tom Gleason

Sep 2018We had a great week at The Mad Moose! The beach was perfect for all of us and the gradual shallow slope into the lake was great for our young son and dog. Nice camp fires almost every night. The house was comfortable and campy. Hope to be back next year!

Jul 2019We had a fun and relaxing week at the Mad Moose. We spent most of our time at the house and on the lake. The beach at the house is really perfect for young kids, a gradual, sandy lake entrance and a fun swimming platform a little ways out. The house was just what we needed...enough space, a clean bathroom, and a well appointed cottage kitchen. The lake was warm, perfect for swimming, and very quiet. Definitely recommend the Mad Moose!

Jul 2013Today is the start of our second week back to work since staying at The Mad Moose, and I don't think any of us have stopped thinking about our vacation, or wishing we were still there! We had a truly amazing time the week of the Fourth of July. It was our first vacation together as two families becoming one, and we couldn't have asked for a better week. The cabin was a very pleasant surprise, as the pictures don't do it justice on size. There was plenty of room for the five of us, plus our Golden Retriever, Roman. The lake itself was stunning, very spacious, but also very quiet (3 boats total on the 4th). The fishing was AMAZING, and probably our overall favorite part, with a total for 43 Large Mouth Bass, and 1 Pickerel. Paula was very helpful, and easy to reach. She made this first time experience very comfortable. Roman, our 6yr old Golden, spent the entire week in the lake, and eventually out on the floating dock with the kids, after figuring out how to climb the ladder to join them. I think he slept the entire first week we were home! I will cherish the memories of this time with my furry best friend more than words can say. The local stores had kind of slim pickings for stocking up, but were convenient, and Hannaford was about 35min away. The only reason we gave a 4 out of 5, is due to the yard being very flooded/muddy. Although this is not a reflection on The Mad Moose or our stay, it is something to be aware of in rainy months. It also made it really hard to keep up on keeping the floors clean! Lots of sweeping :) Despite that small detail, we are all in agreement that we will be coming back to The Mad Moose, and look forward to it!! Thanks again, Paula, you and your camp have given us an amazing memory that we will not soon forget!
Amanda, Dave, Tim, Libby, Katie, and Roman!!

Dec 2007This place was FANTASTIC. It had everything that you could ask for. The place was great, the yard was enormus, and the scenery was breathtaking. I would recommend it to everybody who asked me about it. I am renting it again next year, and in the future. For the money, you couldn't ask for more.

Aug 2021This cabin was exactly what I was looking for: off the beaten path, simple, relaxing. We had a couple rainy days during our stay but we still went out on the lake and had fun in the water, and we did a puzzle after dinner. We did some great hikes and made use of the kayaks, row boat, hammock, and fire pit. Think a more comfortable take on camping. It was great!

Aug 2021The property was perfect size for 2 adults and 1 child. We did have 2 more adults and another child for 1 night and that was ok, but for a week the space would be tight. Wifi was better than expected and allowed for music etc.. The yard and beach were amazing. Firepit was awesome and plenty of room to sit around each night. Plenty of room for the dog and kids to play. We brought our own dog run, but there were two there already, one near beach and one near fire so that was easy. Beach was big and sandy. The water is very, very shallow which is amazing for small children and floating but not great for older children and adults swimming. Water is clear and sandy in front of camp out to the floay, but mucky elsewhere. Great kayaking lake as no big boats. Neighbors let us use their float which is in front of this camp to jump off which was fun and they were very nice. If you don't want other people/children around a majority of time (not on property but on float yelling and playing) this may not be a good fit for you. Overall very fun and nice place.

Oct 2019The cabin was our base camp for hikes in the White Mountains and Mahoosuc Public Reserve Land. The location is perfect, close to great hikes and located on the shore of the beautiful Keewaydin Lake. It was fall when we visited so we didn't swim but it would be a great spot to paddle, fish or swim. The cabin itself was great, exactly as shown in the pictures with everything we needed for our stay. The owner was a pleasure to deal with, we will definitely be back.

Jan 2011Our young family of 5 (two small children and 1 dog) stayed at the Mad Moose August 2010 for one truly enjoyable week.
The cabin is nicley laid out (with living area at one end and the children's bedroom at the opposite end), a clean kitchen and bathroom - with a bathtub!
But the best part is the wide sandy beach and shallow entry into the water. Our 3 year old was in heaven as he played with his "diggers" and waded in the knee high surf.
I highly recommend this property for young families. It is close enough to the attractions in North Conway (45 min) and Storyland (1 hour), but remote enough to feel like you are really getting away from it all.

Jul 2019Our stay at the Mad Moose was perfect. Both my kids enjoyed the gradual entry into the lake and sandy beach. Some friendly neighbors encouraged us to use their swim platform for some added fun. There’s kayaks and a row boat onsite to explore the lake. The overall feel is a quiet lake. The cabin was comfortable and clean with plenty of games, books, etc to keep you busy. We spent our days by the lake and the evenings by the camp fire. Paula the owner was a pleasure to deal with and we hope to return to the Mad Moose again.

Jul 2009My wife, five children and I spent a wonderful week at the Mad Moose in mid July 2009. Nothing but fun and sun...and the fish... The fishing is just second to none. Everyone caught fish from my 3 year old on up...With the record 8+ lbs bass that I caught topping off the week. We had a wonderful vacation with tons of great memories including my 5 year old son learning to snorkel for the first time. Thanks so much for the Mad Moose!

Jun 2020My family, including our aging pooch, had an amazing week. Paula was super easy to work with, extremely accommodating, and everythimg we needed was there and ready! Lake was great, was in the 90s most of week, so we cooled off quite a bit. Great views, hikes and kayaking! Just what we needed to recharge the batteries.

Aug 2022Me, my husband, and our 3 elementary aged girls had a wonderful time here. Huge backyard, sandy bottom clear lake all the way to dock, we could touch up until the dock too! We enjoyed swimming all day, every day!! The two kayaks were great. Cottage was cute and comfy, had everything we needed including lobster pot! Our dog enjoyed her first vacation here also. Our plan was to explore outside the town once, but once we got there, we realized we needed to catchup on rest and family time without expectations of leaving, and that we did. Beautiful view. Loved it.

Aug 2011If you need a week to RELAX this is the place. Our family has two boys 10 and 11 plus our dog Elvis and we all had a great time. The cottage is clean and cute. It is exactly like it is described. The owner was helpful and organized. We kayaked, fished, walked, biked, swam and read books. The sunsets ended the day with breathtaking beauty. Don't forget to stargaze at night because you feel like you see to the next galaxy. I would recommend this to a friend.

Jul 2020Everything was very clean upon our arrival. We had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the lake and the kayaks and rowboat was perfect for us and our children. We brought a few giant floats and it was perfect on the quiet lake. Fishing was excellent. The sandy beach was great for the kids who could wade in the water and it didn’t get deep for a while which was nice for the little ones. It did rain a lot the week that we went, but we still made the most of our stay and was able to enjoy the lake despite all the rain. It was nice not having WiFi and being able to unplug for the week and just enjoy the quiet and family time. We still had the satellite television which made it nice for the evenings with the little ones before bed when it was too wet for a campfire. Overall, it was a perfect week at the lake.
