Atremaru Jungle Retreat

The villa was spacious, tastefully decorated and the beds comfy. Terrace was great and I enjoyed the hammocks. Also, the hotel tries to be more sustainable than comparable hotels (no plastic bottles, renewable énergies used) which gets an extra bonus in my book.

There are some negative aspects. Services and food seem over priced. A taxi from the airport in Puerto princesa cost me 2200 pesos, almost the price of the underwater River tour. The food is mediocre but the prices are expensive. There is no hot water which usually is not a problem given the local climate conditions except when it rains all day and you crave a hot shower. Also, I forgot to fill up the tank of the rental scooter (but the tank of which still was 2/3 full) and they charged 350 pesos. Not outrageous, but way more than the 1-2 l that were missing. Don't try to overcharge your own clients.

The view was fantastic. A perfect mix of Jungle and Ocean paradise. It was like living in heaven as the place was surrounded by nature and Cicadas. The staff were incredibly hospitable and catered to our every need. If you enjoy tranquility Atremaru is an amazing place to relax.

There's no hot and cold shower option and the place is pretty cold for majority of our stay. Having a hot shower would've made the trip perfect.

The view is incredible. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. They really went above and beyond. The food was good but small menu. Price for food was moderate. The pool is beautiful but frigid cold. The room was huge and private, you have your own little building.

The bathroom is not private at all, just a curtain. The “20 min walk” to the beach was 45 mins trekking through steep and wild terrain requiring good shoes. There is a lot of storm damage with trees down/infrastructure damaged but they are working hard to fix it all up!

The spacious private cabana on a mountaintop with a sweeping view from the large deck with hammock was incredible. The restaurant was excellent and the staff super helpful in organizing a tour to the nearby underground river.

The only thing missing was hot water from the shower, but in the hot climate this wasn't really necessary.

The sea view room was spectacular!! A real jungle nature experience. We loved their eco friendly values and putting sustainability first. Drinking water from the falls, shower water from rain. Staff went above and beyond to celebrate my birthday. Every meal was delicious, massages were exceptional. Connecting with nature.

AC in the room would have been appreciated. The two fans were fine though.

The scenery is breathtaking, and the buildings are really well integrated in the nature, creating a wonderfully relaxing effect. The staff is friendly and helpful when organizing day trips.

The beach is very difficult to get to, especially after heavy rains. The terrain becomes incredibly muddy, and you have to wade in knee high puddles. The hill up requires a certain level of fitness. This should really be better clarified in the description. Isolation is great but the restaurant and shop should be better stocked, a lot of the dishes on the menu were not available. There is no way to leave the hotel unless you have your own car or want to rent a moped, so it can be difficult with small children.

The room is exceptional: spacious, beautifully designed, with a large veranda overlooking the jungle. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and really helped us to make the most of our stay. Breakfast ist full of flavour and freshly cooked to order.

The showers could use more pressure, washing my hair under a cold drizzle was doable but not pleasant. The bathroom is lacking hooks and an extra hand towel. I missed a dustbin in the bedrooms, and the dustbin in the bathroom should be emptied daily.

The resort itself is beautiful. The buildings are well made and our balcony had an incredible view over the jungle and the sea. The eco side of things is good too - it is solar- powered and the pool and showers use rain water. The spa is also very nice. We had some good treatments one rainy afternoon.

The food is a bit hit and miss. Most of the local dishes were lovely, the portion sizes were a bit small. Also, after three nights the menu was becoming quite boring and it was clear that they didn't have all the ingredients for all the dishes. This was never communicated to us, though. We just got 'versions' of what we'd ordered. The fitness suite was out of use but, again, we weren't told about this until we went looking for it. You can't pay by card (apparently the card machine is stuck in Manila), which we weren't aware of, so we spent a long time trying to work out bank transfers/Wise payments at the end. We also had to pay for a glass that our child accidentally broke...

The place is incredible and the staff always happy and very friendly, then can handle all the requests. All the villas are very beautiful and comfortable. They also rent pick ups and they are cheaper comparing with the agency's. If you eat always in the in the resort on the 4th day you will have eat pretty much everything on the menu but the food is very tasty. Portions on breakfast are average but you can ask for more! Beautiful view's and sunset's. Big and clean pool. Brace yourself's for a 30 minute walk to the beach deep in the jungle!

Regarding the beach, nothing special really, the best is the walk to get there. Nothing to add really, it was one of the best places we have stayed in the Philippines.

As an eco resort, it could use more vegetarian options. Also, the breakfast could be bigger.

The location is nice but be aware that without own car or motorcycle you are very limited to go somewhere. The stuff did it's best to satisfy the guests. Nice pool Architecture of the resort is nice 👍but the buildings need maintenance.

According to the website should it be possible to rent a motorscooter there but there was only 2 sometimes non. The variation for the breakfast was poor- only 3 meals who never changed. Some of the meals from the menu wasn't available too. The pool billard was in bad condition likewise the dart and karaoke machine. We booked 3 activities whereof one was not organized well. We supposed to take a boat after a short ride with a van to the local beach, but the boat owner did not know that we come, wasn't prepared at all and served us a lie about big waves and wind and that was the reason we can't take the boat ride. Well I am not born yesterday 😉. In the room we had was a rotten smell present like it appears in a very humid and unventilated place. We noticed that the pool is over the room and after my experience from building business this point to a water leak. All in all I have to say that the resort is overrated for what them delivered. Don't go there without own transportation else you will be dependent on the expensive transportation of the resort. There is no public transportation even.

The hotel style is very particular and very close to the jungle.

With the jungle, come the animal (but to be expected). The main issue during our stay was the lack of hot running water.

Stunning, tranquil location on a jungle covered hill looking across the bay. You feel like the only people there surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. Theres a couple of great walks from the property and a spa should you want a massage!

The Underground River tour we were booked onto through the hotel was a little disappointing (The Underground River itself is amazing). The food is average.

Staying in the middle of the jungle, with all the sounds and the atmosphere, but in high standards, clean and huge room with huge balcony and overwhelming view, plus excellent food... What can you ask more? (Hot water...lol)

Staff is exceptionnal Place is breathtaking They make me feel like a princess in a wonderfull kingdom I had amazing experiences with tours also, verty Authentic experience ! The restaurant is really good ! I loved all the facilities ( Beach, Pool, billard, Karaoké ;), Massage !! They answer any of my little question wiht lot of attention.

Secluded place, a retreat to be quiet. In the middle of a forest, nature all around (although unfortunately damaged by Typhoon) Super helpful staff (Gladys) in providing tips and organizing tours (esp. Underground Caves).

Quite isolated. Expensive to get to (taxi) or leave. No options for food around, other than own restaurant.

Really nice place in the jungle and near the airport of PPS. You have nice activities around and you really feel disconnected. Big plus for the pool table area and massages are a bliss!

The wellness facilities and possibilities could be a lot more developed because at the end you don’t have that much to do on site. Food is pricey and not super good!
