Feb 2022World class hotel. Service exceptional. Location can't be beat! We originally booked a superior room with a view of the piazza. The lady at reception, very kindly upgraded us to a view of the bay and the mountain which was superb. The staff are so friendly and accommodating.
We didn’t want to stay.
Oct 2022We stayed several times at V&A. And it was always fine, located at the waterfront.
The whole area around and inside the hotel is under construction. Noise and dust everywhere. They‘d better close it.
Prices have gone up a lot. Obviously new owners.
At the waterfront with very nice views
Feb 2019We stayed in a loft room which was very nice and big with views of the harbour. The bathroom was also very spacious, there were few things needed fixing; the water draining too slowly so accumulating, shower door sagging proving difficult to close....one expects perfection at such places when they claim to be so which is in the air...the breakfast was good and the food lounge was (too) big and dominated by (for breakfast, oyster and champagne expecting (which was available in addition to a rich menu)) Anglo-Saxons, one can get forgotten in such crowd if travelling as mother and child...the location of the hotel is very good, at the V&A waterfront, where it is very lively with concerts....nearby shopping centre and many restaurants.

Jan 2023we loved everything about this place. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. It is right on the waterfront in the middle of it all. there is a taxi stand right out front and Uber is super easy to use as well. thank you for a wonderful stay!

the fact that they wanted to give us a cheaper room we didn’t book ? what is up with that ? & then when I queried it neither that receptionist nor the manager on duty did apologies.

Feb 2022We had a lovely stay. The staff from reception to waitrons were all really good and very helpful full of smiles.
We had their Prawn special on the 2nd night we had about 5 Prawns that were bit mushy and the Ciabatta wasn't toasted just warm. They were very busy. The 3rd night we had it again and then told them about night before and they served it all perfect!! Our breakfast we asked for easy over eggs and 2 mornings out of three had to send eggs back they were really hard!

May 2022The Victoria & Alfred Hotel is stunning. Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are gorgeous, offering superb views of the harbour and Table Mountain. Tea and coffee supplies were great. The location is ideal, to the extent that I used the MyCiti passes I bought only once, to get from the airport to the hotel. There is so much to see and do in short walking distance, with City Sightseeing buses nearby for venturing further. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable.

There were building works going on during our stay which wasn’t as pleasing to the eye but it didn’t affect our stay, we had a lovely time!!

The hotel has published some pics of a swimming pool - but the hotel has no pool!! The furniture is shabby; partly damaged. The rooms do have no atmosphere - which is usually the case in SouthAfrica. It cld be a 3star airport hotel, too.

The breakfast variety is great but the meats and salmon and fresh items are all in the open and not on ice. There are no covers on the food and people are breathing coughing sneezing all over the buffet and it sits there for four (4) hours. This is a health nightmare. I ended up in bed for three (3) days with acute food poisoning. I didn’t eat in any other establishment during my stay. Wasn’t happy when two staff at front desk on checking out laughed when I told them I had been in bed violently ill for 3 days. NB. I have been in South Africa 8 weeks my only illness in this hotel stay.

The room was in a corner and the wall/roof was on a slant. It was very claustrophobic. Felt like half the room was cut off. The window was on a slant so I couldn't even really look outside as it was pretty much pointed to the sky. I asked for a different room, but they were unable to accommodate.

Appreciated the Breakfast box 6am on Sunday morning as I had to leave early for a running event in Constantia. Thank you, that was lovely and very thoughtful.
Send a email in advance, informed when checking in that I'm a blind person and HOUSEKEEPING should PLEASE be informed not to move my belongings in the room.
Had to remind them at reception DAILY! 😭😭 Made my life at the V & A difficult. Had to go on a scavenger hunt everytime HOUSEKEEPING was in the room. They also did not refill the Mini Bar with snacks and had to request DAILY to have the snacks refilled for 2 people.

The fact that there’s no underground parking sucks! Our car and motorbike were packed out in the sun for days! Thank goodness there was no rain!
Limited tv channels. Rooms only got cleaned late in the afternoon, so I couldn’t take a nap or relax even though the hotel wasn’t busy!
The restaurant staff is very friendly but I think the kitchen stuff mess it up for them .
They say breakfast starts at 06:30, but they were only ready at 07:00, so we had to leave.

A wonderful stay at the V&A Waterfront
Apr 2022The location was great with views over the waterfront. Although we were near the popular area we didn’t hear any noise in the room so it was peaceful. The room we had was spacious and the bed was very comfortable! The bar and restaurant had lots of food and drink options with friendly, helpful staff. The front desk team and porters were very helpful as well. I would happily recommend this hotel.

They never available nor attentive. I always have to request their attention.
They are friendly but slow. One more coffee took more than 25 minutes to be served and waited advised there were too many take aways. so walk in guests at the coffee shop get preference.

The price was very steep but presumably for the location. Get a table mountain view - we didn’t and it was a regret
