Swissôtel Grand Shanghai

The staff was amazing! Had a small issue with the equipment the first day (my mistake, not an issue of the equipment) and it was immediately solved. I had a request shared with the very attentive and engaged staff, until my check-out received what I had asked for only once! Very well trained and caring staff making the stay a very nice experience! (But it is helpful to have some conversation skills in Mandarin) The room was clean and the long chair was a real asset to enjoy time relaxing and reading. Internet speed was good most time and access was very easy.

Although being 5-star, it felt like a family hotel with seemingly 80% of travelers arriving with kids, with a noise level in the lobby accordingly. Due to the building style, there is no proper insulation. The family in the room above with an active kid playing all day throwing things on the floor was sometimes bothersome. The pool is good for swimming, however, unfortunately, the no spitting rule at the pool is not properly enforced by the staff, taking out some of the comforts to use the facility. F&B is so-so, best to dine out - and there are plenty of options within 5 minutes walk.

The staff members are friendly. The rooms are very clean and the meals are brilliant.

Too far from the Bund area, but was still a fantastic experience.

The location is the main selling point for this property. The rooms and common areas are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious and well lit. The free flow wine and snacks at in the lobby are at a fair price. However, there is so much to do in this area, a deeper discount would have likely nudged me to indulge

There was no breakfast included in the room rate. This would be fine since breakfast options in the area are abundant. However, there was no complimentary coffee or tea found in the room. It seems as Swissotel is cutting some of those benefits as they know their name and location will keep rooms full. A complimentary coffee bar in the lobby or some sachets of coffee in the room would push this property to an excellent rating. The Wifi was difficult to connect with via WeChat or phone number. I ended up using data, as I was not in the room for a long time. If having an extended stay or travelling on business, you would want to get support in connecting when you are checking into the hotel.

The location is excellent, right in the heart of Jing'an, so convenient for shopping, restaurants and nightlife. It's just a two minute walk to the subway station as well, which meant anything in Shanghai is quickly accessible. Staff were warm and friendly, and were able to process my check-in very quickly.

The interior is now a little bit dated. For a longer term stay, it would be nice for the rooms to all be renovated. Also, the room didn't have a fridge, so I couldn't keep drinks I'd bought cold, this was disappointing. It would also be nice if the rooms had a dimmer switch, so you could adjust the lighting to your preference.

The hotel was in a great location and the rooms were very clean and tidy with the staff and managers excellent.

The hotel location is just right in the middle of the city center. there are a lot of shopping locations around, food as well. The reception check-in staff Miss Hu is extremely helpful and friendly. and we got upgraded to the higher floor, the city night view is just amazing. housekeeping staff are also great, always greeting on the floor. Def will come back again next time to Shanghai

The hotel has an excellent location, close to many restaurants and bistros and other places worth visiting. The wifi connection flies. The staff was helpful at all times.

A constructive criticism I would like to make is that they should put plugs in the bedside tables.

the hotel feels very elegant. public areas are spacious and nicely decorated. Breakfast was really good with lots of variety. all staff were very friendly. unfortunately most hotel facilities were unavailable due to staff shortages due to COVID illness or as a result of COVID restrictions which really took away from the hotel experience.

room service was really limited- just five choices of dish! only one restaurant open on-site in the evenings. no executive lounge bar, or leisure facilities were available.
