Very accommodating with leaving bags before check in and check out

To be honest nothing I have paid for accommodation many times around this price range and had so much better I understand it's a big city and cost is higher however it felt more like a backpackers or hostel than a lodge

The location was horrible place and the whole design on the place was terrible room was so small not anything like the photos online . Looked presentable but in the bathroom there was many hairs on the floor and in shower . We paid for parking reserved but everytime we went out and came back our park had been taken also the beds were very horrible we had 2 budget rooms and both of the double beds felt like they were broken on one side .

The staff were friendly. This was the only positive thing.

The location was great. But the Facilities were disgusting. There was rubbish and broken doors in the carpark, the rooms smelt like cigarettes and chicken noodles and other disgusting smells. The rooms were not clean, in fact dust everywhere, food on the bedroom floors, cutlery under the beds. The pillows didn't have covers, and cigarette burns In the blankets. Stains in the blankets and towels. The smell was unbearable. The toilet continuously flushed and wouldn't stop. Which was a shame, it had so much potential. I had children staying, and the smell was making them sick. It's a shame, the worst part was having to go back to the Lodge at the end of the day.

The spa bath was mostly nice to use, it had jets and made the bubbles work well.

The jets to the bath smelt of dust. The property seemed quite run down. We were given a fork for our coffee cups. We needed to use the fork to take the plug out of the bath though. The milk was also past the expiry date.

The spa bath is great & the bed in room 41 was pretty comfy.

Old bunched up socks in draws it wasn't clean went and got cleaning stuff just to clean the toilet draw tops etc was that gross thank goodness for that heater could have explained there was going to be any shampoo when didn't have to hire a towel has been told that was just a bad room I had

The room was old and room too small for free movement, I fell down in one whole covered with carpet on the floor The staff was not welcoming, not willing to answer questions required them to call a taxi to work, I was given a phone number and reply was call your own The wifi was very poor, can't even connect,

The room was easily the best that I have stayed in. It was very "gracious" and "spacious" - the decor was superior to my previous room at Halswell lodge. There were plenty of channels to choose from as regards the TV and the room was excellent value for money, as I had been upgraded for free. It was located in the two story brick bungalo on Edge Hill at the back of the property. I appreciated the receptionist's help in getting my room keys "after office hours".

The room was clean and comfortable and the location was excellent, within easy walking range of the main attractions in the city centre. I was very impressed that the receptionist rang me to confirm my booking.

The fridge wasn't plugged in so I couldn't use the milk, which took away from the coffee/tea making facilities. Not enough choice of channels on the television.

The room was a lot bigger than what we expected. The Halswell Lodge Cottage was a lovely old building and had some great features. Set right off the main road, it was quiet, yet right at the bottom of Courtney Place. The location was excellent and the building was homely, it suited us well travelling with a 3 year old.

The room and location were good and the bathroom was nice. The staff were friendly and the rooms were decently clean.

There were a few amenities missing such as toilet paper and the car park didn't feel the safest as it was far away from our room.

There were young men that kept gathering outside the rooms next to the lodge. They kept coming in and out of the place on their car and was up and down all night making sure my car was okay. It was actually quite scarey as they were gathered only at night.

The room was fantastic, no issues with that and would stay again. I prob won’t though have a car parked up.

The only thing remotely good about this property was the location. It was close to a main St with cafes, bars etc

Everything. It was the worst property I've ever stayed in. It is NOTHING like the photos. The '"spa bath" was tiny, filthy and the jets didn't work anyway. There was no fireplace like in the photos but we could have overlooked this, however it was also dirty, cold (no heating, we had to buy our own heater), the smell was overpowering, no staff on site, broken glass, graffiti, stairs were dangerously slippery in the wet. I hated this property.

Finding our room in the dark, was not comfortable up a dark alley Tv didn't work, couldn't find anyone in reception Not many things in the kitchen Bathroom walls need a clean, rusty rubbish bin The front door said leave keys in dropbox behind you, but wasn't told how that worked, had to go back up the horrible alleyway to get to office inside then found a inside box No where to wait for a shuttle than outside in cold and rain

Was not looked after. Not clean and nothing worked. No batteries in remotes. Very sad, as it does have potential and old charm to be a lovely place to stay. It just needs a good clean and attention to detail.

The motel is convenient located near the city centre. We could walk to the CBD, the restaurants, Te Papa basically everywhere. The rooms and the bathroom were nicely sized and well equipped.

The motel could use an update wgen it comes to furniture. Our towels were exchanged everyday despite us hanging the used ones on the rails.

The bed head was broken and noisy when you moved, there was no smoke aram in room, the pillow cases had marks on them.. not really happy about being charged a $100 for a Bond

The location was the only thing that was good about it.

.......Do not stay here......Nobody at the reception nobody would answer any of the phone calls when I was checking in. Took an hour to eventually get someone to check me in and my family. The place was very dirty rubbish still in the rooms sticky floors, dirty bathroom with broken cupboard doors dirty toilet with crap and pubic hair around the toilet seat.... The place was full of homeless people and drug addicts. Drug addict was yelling at my 11-year-old daughter with in the first 10 minutes of us being there.

very run down, broken furniture and things in general, walls so thin we could hear showers going, people walking around at 2am!

The location was great and the Wi-Fi speed was terrific 👍

This property was old and dirty. Although the bed was comfy and the location great, the hallway and room stank of cigarettes, there was a used bar of soap left in the shower and only 1 coffee cup. The following day when we returned to our room the bed had not been made. I have emailed the owner twice with no response as yet.

The location was good and central

The room was not very clean needed vacvuming and dusting. There was hair on the bathroom floor that needed washing also the bath toilet and shower needed a good clean. Should of left and asked for our money back but couldnt

The location was excellent. Walking distance to Courtenay Place, nice spacious rooms that were perfect for getting away and enjoying Wellington.

A bit of confusion when we arrived on how to check-in. Other than that it was really good.

the location was close to my daughters apartment, the only reason I booked Halswell Lodge. there were cheaper options in the area.

absolutely nothing to like. lots to share. Firstly, please not I have a mobility disability. The accomodation was advertised as accessible when I booked. I also asked for a ground floor room. reception door was locked at 4pm. I could see a woman working on a computer. I knocked on the door, she looked up then carried on with her computer. a few minutes later I knocked again. she held a hand up in a wait! signal. when she eventually opened the door, her greeting was YES? I told her I had a booking. shoulder slump and a sigh, you better come in. she then proceeded to scrutinise my ID, for an unnecessarily long couple of minutes. she handed me the key to room 43 and told me to go back outside, gup the very steep driveway and it was at the top. I could only find up to room 31, so I rang reception. she came up the driveway and said”it’s there”. pointing at a house with a completely different name than Halswell Lodge. by this time I was in a lot of pain and exhausted from carrying my bag up and down the reception steps (high and steep) and lugging my bag up the steep hill. on entering the house, I saw rooms up number 42. Room 43 was right at the back, off the communal kitchen, right next to the back door. The noise was constant and extremely loud. The room was dirty. Dusty, smelled of damp. filthy windows. I decided to settle in, have a nap and see if things looked better. A nap was impossible due to the banging and crashing in the kitchen, directly behind the headboard. Nope, they were worse. I opened the wardrobe to hang up my clothes and a smashed up ironing board fell out on to me. The wardrobe smelt way worse on the inside. Damp. I was not putting my clothes in there. I used the toilet. A hand soap dispenser on the wall was leaking. As I stood up I slipped in this disgusting mess. I decided to have a shower, but there was no hot water. No hot water in a global pandemic.

I didn't like how paper thin the walls were. We got 3 complaints for noise... And we weren't being louder than usual. Not to mention our neighbour decided to start yelling and screaming abuse at a couple at 10pm at night. And we could hear EVERYTHING from the street. AND the mattress was too big for the base. I was hanging off the bed. Not soundproof. Wouldn't choose to stay there again.

Black mould throughout the bathroom, even after requesting to change rooms because of this, the second room also had extensive mould. Carpets were damp. Rooms smelt like something rotting. Bed sheets were stained and smelt dirty. Fridge stank and was dirty. Hot water worked intermittently. Batteries had been stolen out of our tv remote. Fan in the room did not work. Book literally anywhere else!! This place is run down and disgusting.

The location

The fact that the parking costs to me isn't made very clear on the website. Why isn't the cost included in the actual room rate instead of charging an additional $15. Also the parks are only suitable for smaller vehicles

The location

As above, leaking roof, broken windows, single glazing which is mad with continuous parties next door and the wind. Rooms were very small. And advertising was misleading.

The location is excellent. The rooms are Spacious and warm. The price is very good. Having a car park is super convenient. Water pressure in the shower is excellent.

The room was not clean, there was a previous guests sock in the corner. The single bed looked like someone had already slept in it. Maintenance was needed in the bathroom.
