Jan 2023We stayed 3 nights in East Indies Mansion, the place is beautiful, the staff really friendly. They took time to explain to us the attractions of the city, to share restaurants recommendations. I highly recommend and would definitely go there again!
Best place in Malaysia
Mar 2023We have been traveling around Malaysia for 2 weeks, and this was the best hotel of all. The staff is friendly and helpful. They gave us a lot of information about the city, places to visit, and even a list of vegetarian restaurants :)
The place is amazing. Restored old Chinese house from 1800, the atmosphere is relaxed with beautiful decoration. You have everything you need in your room plus, the bed is super comfy.
We will come back for sure!
A small suggestion: You can be more eco-friendly if don’t turn on the AC and lights when you clean the room.

Exceptional experience in a heritage mansion
Aug 2022The warmth of greeting was exceptional. We were made to feel very at home. The accommodation, in a restored Chinese mansion, captured the history of the house whilst providing a comfortable and relaxing place to return to. The room was spacious and kept very clean during our stay. There was exceptional attention to detail from Ai Tee, whose friendliness, advice and afternoon tea treats made our stay memorable. The location of the hotel is great for exploring Georgetown and surrounding area and there are many places to eat nearby. We will definitely return to this hotel when we are in penang again.

Jun 2022The mansion is beautifully restored. The hotel manager AiTee is extremely friendly an helpful. Her recommendation of places to eat are all very good. The room is large and clean. The welcome drink is very refreshing in hot weather.

Oct 2022The hotel is beatiful, amazing and really cozy! They think at all the details. The girls at the reception and breakfast are always willing to help you and advice you the best. The guys who clean the rooms are extreamly polite adn do their best all the time. We loved this experience.

Jul 2022Spacious room while preserving heritage house. The room felt very comfortable, clean and tidy. Very minimal furniture but enough for 3 of us to lepak2 and chatting through the night. Very clean bathroom and i like the shower gel very much. Quiet during night and felt secure
Hard to get parking near the hotel if you come with your own car.

Jun 2022- Prime location, with a liquor store 4 doors away
- Lovely decor! (Although the wooden floorboards do creak quite a bit)
- Rooms are very spacious with high ceilings, especially the private common room connecting Cinnamon 1&2 (picture)
- There are many glass bottles filled with drinking water placed all around the room, and the staff diligently refills them. We never ran out of water to drink!
- Provision of snacks and tea time snacks for free was a nice touch, even though we were too full to stomach them most of the time :)
- Roadside parking was fairly easy even though it was a long weekend
None of these were a huge bother, just some areas that can be improved :)
- No aircon in the downstairs room. It wasn't too warm, but it would have been nice to have an aircon downstairs too, or maybe use thinner blankets for the beds downstairs
- 1 toilet to 5 persons is a little insufficient. There is a common toilet (no shower) at the back of the building though
- Toilet is located upstairs, and the spiral staircase leading upstairs could be difficult to navigate at night when you're half asleep and in the dark. Definitely not disabled-friendly
- Water pressure of the showers can be better
- The main wooden doors into the room are a little difficult to lock/unlock
- Would have been nice to have more clothes hooks/hanger/etc places around the room to hang clothes

Peaceful stay in the middle of city centre
Sep 2022It's nice and calm environment. The mansion is located in the Little India. You can reach most of famous restaurants, sightseeing and jetties easily. The staff were super welcoming and helpful. We got many usual information from them and they also offered some local sweet to us and let us try out. The room was cozy and comfortable.

Rare gem in the heart of Georgetown
Jul 2022Had an amazing stay in historic residence, with every part of the mansion beautifully decorated.
Hospitality of the staff were great (AiTee), making us feeling welcome throughout the trip. They will provide tips on things to eat and do, which were extremely helpful.
They have multiple rooms and each room has its unique layout, with rooms suited for family. We stayed in Anistar 2, which was clean, spacious and comfortable. There is an open-kitchen, where you can cook or dine in.
Location is great with many food options nearby and within walking distance to some of the attractions Georgetown
There is a lack of soundproofing so you may hear noises from adjacent rooms.
