Jan 2022Where to start and what is the word for ‘more than exceptional’? Suffice to say that our stay was a soul enriching experience: We got to meet beautiful people with true commitment to and love for what they are doing, got submerged in the tranquil surroundings and dined on wholesome food made with love... Some suggestions if you visit: Take a plunge in the eco pool next to the restaurant at sunset, have a signature gin under the ‘vyebos’ (fig trees) and do try the Chardonnay.
Note: If you visit in the middle of summer it’s going to be hot! ... check behind the bedroom door for the fan :)

Jan 2023we did not stay. We left the property because we were not happy with the overall impression of neglect and poor upkeep of the gardens buildings and dirty pool
WE stayed for one hour before we left. The property was unkept " gardens , pool and buildings" There were multiple flies in the reception and dining room area ( the property we move to afterwards in the same are had no flies) I was a huge disappointment because the photos on Booking.com did not reflect the poor state the property was in.
The prices advertised at the restaurant were exorbitant and out of line with the look and feel of the property
Special place. Review note: We stayed in a one bedroom cottage in summer on a cool day.

Jan 2022The service was excellent from the time of arrival to departure. Products are locally produced or sourced - the wagyu steak are exceptional. Staff are well trained and given opportunity to excel. The accomodation, dating back to 1814, is very comfortable and stylish
Although the locally produced wines are good, it would be good to have a bit more options.

May 2022The food was delicious. The Marbled Wagyu restaurant is a real treat. The rooms are rustic but have all the essentials including a working fire place. Hot water availability was spotty and the mirrors above the sinks are very high. Short people must use the full length mirror.
Martin and Manina, the owners, could not be more hospitable, along with farm dogs, Phoebe and Sanir (sic). Lee is a wonderful host and Arina always had a smile on her face.
Location near the Cango Caves and Ostrich farm is great.
There are no electrical outlets in the bathroom so one must go in the other room to use the hair dryer. The pool was full of leaves, but they will heat and clean it if you want to use it. There are not alot of dining options nearby, but De Kombuys is a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful vistas.

Astonishing oasis among the mountains, close to Oudtshoorn. 10+
Feb 2022Stunning estate! Like a little oasis among the mountains. The villa was so beautifully decorated (and large!) we spent 10 minutes thunderstruck when we arrived. The design is applied with such attention to detail, everything looks so neat and blends beautifully with the natural environment. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside bath, the splash pool and the wines. And that view during breakfast on the terrace, wow. Made us feel like royalty, wish we stayed longer.
As much as the Wagyu beef is such a unique feature of the estate and restaurant, I'd say for those who aren't as carnivorous the restaurant options become quite limited for a longer stay.
