Golden Bay Belize Hotel

Very nice hotel. Lots of marble. The rooms were very well appointed. Felt like a luxury hotel, which it is. Restaurant and Bar on the roof was beautiful. The continental breakfast had wonderful eggs, sausage and fruits.

The bathroom sink bowl was too large for the counter, so very little counter space. The water pressure was sufficient but not wonderful.

I loved EVERYTHING!

Very clean, more than what I expected compared to other hotels in the city. The rooftop restaurant has a very nice atmosphere with great views at day or night as well as the Menu wich was good compared to other options in the area.

a better table to work would have been great, they had a kind of table in a sofa at the bedroom but didn´t quite made it comfortable enough to place my laptop and work while i was at the room.

Thw room was big

The staff were not interested in the guests. There was a very noisy party in the room next door - loud music shouting banging. Despite complaining they let it run until after 3am meaning i couldnt sleep. Overall they simply didnt care that a hotel is meant to be a place where you can rest. They didnt service the room well and charged for drinking water because they didnt replace them during housekeeping Not a good place to stay and will not return or recommend

This was a very clean and beautiful hotel on the inside. Very modern and clean and and very friendly and helpful staff. The Restaurant is located on the top floor, with a great view of the ocean and atmosphere and music! The open bar and food was great, I had the lamb chops. The complimentary breakfast was really good too. 10/10 experience for this location.

This hotel is situated by the corniche. Staff was helpful and kind. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated.

The staff were friendly. The general store/supermarket was on the first floor in the same building, if I wanted to get clothes, towels, toiletries, food, etc. That was convenient.

The location was just a bit far from things. The town is small, so it's manageable, but it takes 15-20 minutes to walk to the pier for the ferry or the other pier where private tours leave, or to go to the town area to shop/eat (90% of where I ended up going was one of those areas). The casinos are about 15 minutes in the other direction, if thats your destination. There were not much of any amenities. No pool (although that would have likely been closed due to covid?). The restaurant on the roof was okay. The breakfast was a decent buffet spread (rotating three hot choices, toast, cereal, fruit, and included coffee and juice). The room was fine, but not super nice. I could hear a lot coming from the hallway, including people talking/walking, doors closing, and the elevator beeping. The beds were okay. There was construction going on on one side of the hotel (luckily not my side). That was not usually active, but it makes for a little less of a l welcome as I walk back to the hotel from being in town. Overall a little disappointing.

The staff was very helpful and responsive. We enjoyed the rooftop restaurant with a view of the bay. We were surprised to discover a department store attached to the hotel that had souvenirs household items, groceries, and much more!

The ac couldn't cool the room when you weren't in it. I understand on saving electricity, but if screens were in the window we could have the windows open to cool it off.

The staff is top notch! Samantha at the front desk was extra helpful and Sean, the bellhop, brought up our bags and then setup the A/C and showed us how the cardlock/power system operated. The hotel is newer and has an above-average restaurant and convenience market (relative to hotel standards). (We used both.) Both were needed as there is nothing close by. Also, South Belize City is not an area I would feel comfortable walking around in the evening. The water pressure is good and the A/C was marvelous. The room was clean and had all the standard amenities. A safe would have been a nice addition. Our experience was good. We would stay here again.

The bathroom sink faucet was wobbly and probably just needs to be tightened. A safe would have been nice. The flat-screen TV should be bigger given the size of the big white wall it was on. The lack of art or other decorations made it really look small. Ok that was nit-picky and I didn't even watch TV!

The staff are friendly and professional. I also like that there are airport shuttle.

I love the location and the luxury rooms. Personally recommend to anyone who wants a luxury hotel with a good price.

The space is ok. We were using it as a space to stay one night before we flew back home. The room was clean

WiFi is terrible. The in room tv wouldn’t been work because of poor connection. The buffet breakfast is just ok very limited options

Restaurant food was overpriced and security for the building is very lax

The room was so exceptionally clean, the restaurant had nice menu offerings, I ordered room service and my food came in less than a half hour. I live on Caye Caulker and occasionally need to stay the night in Belize City and I will stay here again. There are snacks and beverages available for purchase at the front desk for convenience. There is a coffee pot with supplies for coffee and tea and a mini refrige in the room. The air conditioning worked excellent.

The coffee machine didn’t work. The outlets were behind the bed. The shower was a mystery to operate. These little things that could be fixed with a simple notice (or better yet maintenance) but just seems like nobody cares. The breakfast was a tasteless buffet, really unbecoming of a $150 night.

There is basically nothing really inviting to go grab a coffee or have breakfast. Yes, the hotel has a restaurant that provides breakfast. But if you have food allergies and need more healthy varieties, from what I have seen - Belize City is not a place I would recommend on going. Plus - there is no sports room or sth similar. To me...the rates did not match with offered amenities and location.

I checked in on a Friday. My room location was strange. It was located on a floor with with 3 doors and without room numbers. Went back to the front desk and Pricella told me my room was the middle door. Upon entering the room and I was pleased however I did get a bad vibe from the room and was surprised at the amount of vents in the bathroom. My instincts told me to take a shower in the dark. On Sunday I woke up around 7 a.m. to take my medication and while at the sink and looking in the mirror to wash my face I saw the light above me slowly open up and someone was in the crawl space in my bathroom watching me. I screamed and the light fell back partially into its frame.(see photo) I immediately called the front desk and they sent security. The security stood up on the sink pushed up the light to look into the crawl space yelling if anyone was up there. No one responded however he did say he saw a fresh set of handprints. I called the front desk and insisted on speaking to the owner however she was not available until after 9 a.m. The security guard returned with the maintenance man and I did not allow them in my room. The owner arrived to my room around 9:45 a.m. and instead of apologizing for what I personally experienced she began to explain that she has never received a complaint like this and there are cameras everywhere. She made it seem like my story was not valid and offered me another room at a discount to satisfy me. She also stated she would report the incident to the police. This incident needs to be reported to the Belize Tourism Board because this hotel is listed Best and Safe Belize medal. This is not a safe place to travel solo especially if you are a woman.

The room itself was fantastic. The a/c worked great.

The restaurant food was not good, the "breakfast" was horrible.

The roof top restaurant

The restaurant was very good. Everything in the room was super clean and good quality. The tray with coffee maker and different teas was a good touch. Good wifi. It's nice to have a store next door with coffee shop without having to go out in the street.

Everything was top class except the pillows were incredibly hard and uncomfortable.

the property was fine. lots of construction so there was dust in the air. the stands like the hot dog chicken and taco places weren’t open daily and when they were they were out of things. the prices at those stands were high. the martini bar manager was super friendly. overall the stay was good. I would like to return once all of the construction is complete.

The price was good

The rooms were poorly designed. The furniture felt cheap and there were not enough mirrors in the room. The bathroom sink was terrible. It splashed water on you every time you turned it on and it was so big that you had to step to the side to look in the mirror. The restaurant on top was ok. The servers were not super friendly. The food was ok. I wish there had been more Belizean food on the menu. The flower beds were full of weeds and just gave a very neglected and unkept feel to the restaurant.

The open air restaurant on the rooftop is fabulous. first time I was here the continental breakfast was nothing because of Covid restrictions. Now they serve a very nice complimentary breakfast in the restaurant.
