Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort – All Inclusive

The personal touch provided to my family was unique, staff saying hello to my son by name regularly and going above and beyond to address issues. Main issue I had with our stay, was that the hotel was quiet which led to the buffet being shut and as a result we alternated between two restaurants for a week which made the food boring in the end. The quality was good, just repetitiveness was the only downside

The reason I am giving the hotel a low score is because when I tried to settle my bill the night before checkout, I was surprised with a charge for Video on Demand? I told the receptionist that I did not purchase the service and she basically did not trust me and said that she has to check with IT tomorrow morning to make sure that I didn't purchase the service. I asked for Duty manger and he basically said the same thing and he cannot delete it until the IT checks?! Tomorrow morning just before checking out they sent the IT guy to my room and after talking to me and checking the TV he said he will ask them to delete the charge. I have been to so many hotels and this is my first time having to meet the IT guy to delete a charge that by the way less than 1% of the overall hotel stay. And no apology was given whatsoever!

The Awali was a beautiful resort with the most amazing staff who very attentive and helpful. One of the managers, Melanie dealt with any of our queries and was always going the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful stay.

Returned from 7 days at the Awali. Overall it did not deserve its 5* rating. The golf course was in pristine condition and the staff excellent; too bad their fine service and attention to detail wasn’t replicated at the hotel. The property itself is impeccably maintained with a stunning location, but the so-so service and so-so buffet along with too many exclusions or supplements on the all inclusive (AI) made us regret our choice. We had so many little problems - drink orders never right, main course arriving at the same time as the first course, no silverware for the second course...the list goes one. After the 3rd day we met with the manager who suggested various solutions which ensured that our remaining days were much better. The C Pool Club across from the golf course, a 5 minute walk, offers attentive, well measured service and divine food. The main restaurant buffet was sparse with few choices. The Infinity Blue for dinner (reserve in advance) offered a wonderful menu and much better service in the evening. As for the bars, the liquor selection is quite extensive; however, the wine selection is below average. (The manager did personally select wines off the AI list for the remainder of our meals which greatly improved our dining experiences.) On the plus side, the Pool & beach bar service was quite attentive and the maids did a terrific job with the room each day. To be fair, once the management is aware of a problem, they do their upmost to rectify it quickly.

From the minute we got to the hotel we was welcome with open arms, Karishma made us feel at home and was always on hand to help with anything we needed. Restaurant staff Veeshay always served us with pure professionalism and with brilliant character. Bar staff Ruhul, Avinash and Denis made the best cocktails and had good sense of humour.

Of the three hotels we stayed at while on holiday in Mauritius, this was our least favorite. We had two free nights at the Intercontinental in Balaclava and the rooms were normally half the price of the Awali, but much nicer in their design/layout as well as the hotel staff and accommodations. There was no conditioner in the room as well as a charge for WiFi. The Ginja restaurant was nice, but very expensive for what you get. Ive been to very nice, very expensive restaurants and had much better experiences there. It seems that they prey on the fact that many people dont venture out of the hotel into the nearby towns and feel free to charge outrageous prices for mediocre food. Overall, Im very glad we only had a short stay there, but unfortunate that it was at the end of our trip...overall, we were happy to leave there.

Great location to beach and lovey resort including access to other Heritage sister sites

good hotel close to beach and golf course. facilities generally good with friendly staff. our suit and some of the general facilities looked tired and probably need refurbishing

Fantastic facilities and wonderfully friendly staff who were very accommodating. All of the restaurants served delicious fresh food and had a great range of wine and spirits. Beautiful beach and lots to do; the gym is well equipped, the tennis courts are in great condition, our girls loved the archery, the traditional fishing was a real treat and the glass bottom boat was a great trip. We had a few massages and spa treatments which were really relaxing. The one slight let down was the creche which was a little lacking in energy and enthusiasm but once we mentioned this to the management team they went out of their way to rectify.

Disappointed by not receiving the benifits offered by my Expedia status and after your intervention the response of the hotel was intrusive and over the top.

Clean, spacious and staff very attentive.Cannot get into restaurants without prior booking unless eating at 9 pm. However buffet okay most nights.

As a solo traveller, this was not an ideal place. Everyone, and I mean everyone kept asking where my husband was. It’s a beautiful spot though. Service was great. A little out of the way from anything. Go see Markesh at the dive centre beside the resort. Amazing dives with him.
