Aug 2022We had a fabulous stay at the Turbine. Sadly it was only for one night but will definitely stay there again! Beautiful decor, beautiful views of the waterways, lovely and friendly staff. Food in the pub and at breakfast was delicious too

Apr 2022We checked in earlier. The reception staff were so accommodating and friendly. They kept our baggage for us the morning prior to check-in. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff are world-class. What a pleasure to see happy faces all the time.

Jan 2020Very unique, with lots of history that’s been turned in to a beautiful boutique hotel on the island, beautiful room, lovely staff that couldn’t do enough for you. Great spot for exploring the Knysna area. Nice bars and restaurant just a stroll away.

Sep 2021This is a wonderful boutique hotel, that has done an amazing job preserving so much of the original power station equipment throughout the hotel. The history of the power station & Thesen Island make for a memorable stay. The staff are all incredibly friendly & helpful.

Apr 2019This is a unique Hotel. It's interesting, well run and managed and with a very interesting history as an old power station. Many of these aspects are now features and it all combines to make a wonderful experience. The rooms are very well appointed and immaculately clean. If we find ourselves back int he area this would be a number one choice!

Oct 2018Loved how they integrated the old power stations parts as accessories in this unique hotel. Also loved the location. We chose to rent ebikes & in 1 hr you can drive on a path around the island. I had one of the best massages at their spa and their food is great as well. You’re also 5 min from the waterfront where there are many restaurants & shops.

Dec 2019Hotel is unique and interesting,rooms are modern and well planned . Food was good but ... big but ... service although cheerful was so slow and incompetent in the dining room . Gave up waiting for cooked breakfast order after an hour even after a prompt that we were still waiting ,another 20 minutes passed. Lots of staff around . We left to get on with our day . The island bar team on the other hand were on it with the drinks service and the food order. Reception staff were polite and efficient but could be more welcoming and interested to ask whether stay had been pleasant.

Friendly and professional staff throughout the hotel. Plenty and safe on site parking. People with mobility issues just need to check that they are on ground floor as there are stairs to negotiate. Lovely in-room amenities, appreciated the espresso maker and quality toiletries

Jun 2021An amazing weekend away experience characterised by excellent customer service and awesome breakfasts. The furnishings and fittings, including the artefacts, are amazing, and indicative of the detailed interior design!
