Mar 2020We were so pleased with this motel. We stayed for 3 nights and were so glad we chose this one to be our base. The bedroom was very comfortable. The main room also had a bed (which we used as a day recliner), and also had a nice couch, and 4 seat dining area. The kitchenette was well supplied with everything needed to cook in or heat up leftovers. The bathroom had a spa tub. The lush rainforest views from the back windows and views of the glaciers from the front were fabulous.This is the best that Franz Josef can offer for comfortable and quality lodging. The hosts were just fantastic as well.

Dec 2022We had a very comfortable stay in this very comfortable unit. Everything was in good working order and accurately shown in their photos. The location is easily accessible to restaurants and shops in town.

Mar 2020We had a great stay. Wish the weather would have cooperated for a helicopter ride. Owner of hotel even provided an ice pack for my wifes sprained ankle and milk in the fridge. We also used the the laundry facility which included soap. *****

Feb 2020The best accommodation during my 10-days trip. Clean and large rooms, perfect equipment, and kind reception. I feel deeply welcomed by the hosts.One minor comment: The fan in the bathroom is not turned off by switch. I have to shut it down by using a circuit breaker box.

Oct 2020Sparkling clean, large room. Fast check in by super friendly staff. Advise given on weather and eateries. Highly recommend this hotel. The spa is big enough for two. Wish we could have stayed longer!!!

Dec 2019My family was not able to make it to the hotel due to road closure. We were half an hour away but there was no way for us to get to Franz Josef. We checked with the locals nearby and understood that the road would be closed for a week. As I was not able to cancel my booking using the app, I called the hotel to explain the situation to cancel the booking. The hotel was very gracious to cancel the booking without charges. Subsequently, I contacted hotels.com. Long story short, the refund was approved. Mother Nature may have dealt a bad blow to Franz Josef but the hotel’s professionalism with a compassion will rapidly rebuild its business. The next round if I were to come, Aspen Court will be my top choice. God bless.

Sep 2019Hosts were very friendly, location is great for those who want to use the hot pools or have bookings with the glacier guides. Overall, FJ is very small so even though this motel is at the end of town, town centre is literally a 5-7 min walk away.

Feb 2020Conveniently situated opposite the DOC centre and next door to an excellent restaurant.This motel is very comfortable and very well thought out. The fittings and fixtures are top quality. The spa in the bathroom is a nice addition and the kitchenette has absolutely everything you need to make a simple meal. Fresh milk, every day, is a wonderful change from the usual UHT packets. It’s the small details that make a motel special and we thought this motel was special. Would stay here again.
