Dec 2018We spent two weeks in Bali. Wapa di Ume in Sideman was our final destination. What a treat and a perfect way to end our travels! The hotel itself is spectacular. It’s sits perched on a hillside overlooking a verdant expanse of rice fields and mountains. The thoughtful attention given to details throughout the complex is apparent. The rooms and villas are spacious, exquisitely appointed and all come with sweeping views. The public areas, including the two cascading infinity pools, the spa and dining room, are inviting and encourage one to linger. The hotel offers a number of amenities including guided walks through the rice fields, a brief tour of the Sideman area and yoga. However, what really makes Wapa di Ume special are the people. From check-in to check out they couldn’t have been more gracious or accommodating. We casually commented to Negara, the Food and Beverage Manager, our love of spicy Balinese foods. He independently conferred with Chef Mangku to suggest a menu for us. It was sumptuous and we couldn’t have been happier. We even took a cooking class with hopes of replicating some of the tastes of Bali at home. Situs (Sous?) Chef Dwipayana was our instructor but many came to cheer us on in our efforts. What fun! We had a wonderful time at Wapa di Ume. Our only regret is we couldn't stay longer.

Jun 2019We had a great stay at Wapa di Ume Sidemen. Overall, the experience was excellent, with only a couple of things less than stellar.Positives: Brand new, beautifully designed hotel. Our Pool Villa was gorgeous - spacious, beautiful finishings, comfortable bed, very large marble bathroom with deep bath and lovely outdoor shower, fantastic infinity edge swimming pool with views across the valley. Private and comfortable - we could have spent the entire stay holed up in our room. The rest of the hotel is equally well designed - including that endlessly instagrammable main pool.Service was excellent - very friendly and for the most part efficient. The only time it was less than 5 star was at breakfast and lunch on our 2nd day when we had a very long wait for our food - not ideal considering the restaurant was not very busy. In addition to this, when the food eventually arrived, several items were cold.Little touches were very much appreciated including:- welcome drink and traditional blessing upon arrival- free and very informative guided walks of the local and surrounding areas- private assistant available by WhatsApp- wide ranging room service menu and speedy deliveryWe wouldnt hesitate to stay again. Im sure as the kitchen staff increase in experience that the delays and issues we experienced will be resolved.

Jan 2020The resort is superb! Even better than the pictures, the location is amazing and the facilities beautifully embracing the nature around. We opted for a regular room (not the one that comes with an own pool) and it was gorgeous, super clean, beautifully decorated, a large balcony and the bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the valley through an almost full glass wall. The food we had was delicious and we also ate outside the resort at the local restaurants around, extremely good (much cheaper too) if you want to explore the surrounding. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive too. All in all, a great hotel, great value for money, would definitely recommend.

Jun 2022The place was a little run-down and the curtain in the bathroom was broken; however the bed was really comfortable. I only ordered room service once and it was okay. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The walls are very thin so I could hear others conversations, chairs moving amongst other unpleasant noises if you get my drift. Overall, I expected more for the price I paid. Perhaps I might book one of the villas if I decide to stay here again.

Jan 2019The most amazing experience ever! I celebrated my 30th birthday at Wapa di ume Sidemen, and the staff surprised me not once but twice! First with a cake and birthday song during breakfast and then again with a tub filled with flowers that spelled out HBD. Such a wonderful staff who greeted us every time, from the wait staff to the gardeners. So friendly and willing to help however they can. I will definitely be back!

Sep 2018One of the best hotel experiences ever. Three months young 21 room resort compromised of private villas with private pools and spacious rooms with expansive ensuite bathrooms. My room had a huge balcony overlooking a Shangrila valley, complete with a beautiful roaring river below. Staff were so warm, professional and caring. Two infinity pools, with a great gym below one with cascading water to look at while you exersize. There is a very nice spa built directly below the most heavenly open air yoga studio you could dream of. Restaurant food was delicious. There are no TVs but the WiFi is strong throughout. Thank you again to Agus, the Resort Manager, for escorting me one afternoon on his motorcycle and spending almost 2 hours showing me the mountains and countryside. Special shout out to Geri and Jenny in the restaurant, for their service and friendship. If i had not prepaid the hotel at my next destination, i would have definitively stayed at the resort longer.

Apr 2022It was just beautiful and amazing! Very friendly staff and everyone is so helpful. Please do the spa massage as you’ll see the spectacular views. Only thing is there is no money exchange in the village, so please do it in big city, or airport before you head to the resort. And don’t forget your insects repellent.

Aug 2021I love how peaceful this property is surrounded by rice terraces and river. The property is roughly 3-4 years old but by the pool we can see that it could use some revamping on the wall paint. I went there as a couple and our room being put right below a room filled with more than 3 adults and couple of children was really the only downside that we had. They made so much noise moving furnitures and children screaming. However overall the hotel is nice.

Aug 2019A beautiful location and relatively well-appointed rooms. The free tours they offer are absolutely worth getting involved in to see the local area, and even just heading out into the town/village opens up some nice opportunities. The food in the restaurant was excellent and well-priced (particularly if you can get 15% discount through Hotels.com)The staff, once you engaged them, were generally very helpful, but Id have to say that this is the one area where the place could up its game a little: Theres never anyone around the pool and the phone system doesnt work well, the service in the restaurant was on the slow side, and again, always a bit tricky to catch their attention. The staff was all perfectly nice and competent, but for a place positioning itself as a 5* resort these are the little things missing. The walls/ceilings/floors in the rooms are pretty thin, so if you are unlucky enough to be next to the kid from the exorcist, then youll need some ear plugs (or holy water). Thankfully the staff managed to find some in the village....ear plugs, not holy water. They should also make more of the yoga barn - its an absolutely amazing venue, but they only have yoga three times a week, and not at the weekend.Special commendation to whoever is in charge of the gardens - the whole place looks fantastic and has a rich and varied collection. Finally, if you get a driver from the airport, ask for Yudi - hes an absolute character!Overall, a great place to chill out.
