Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Sylacauga, an IHG Hotel

The room was clean and comfortable. There was only one towel and washcloth in the room. It was almost 9:00 PM before more were brought to our room. They had to wait for the wash to be done. It is possible the problem was because they may have been short staffed. I’m not sure, but it was inconvenient.

The pool was not operational. That was the main reason we chose the hotel and paid extra above others on the area. My child was very disappointed and now we had paid extra for nothing.

The pool was closed but wasn't told until we arrived, the bathroom was in poor condition, food and drinks were found in the fridge in our room upon arrival. But the staff was amazingly friendly and apologetic.

The hotel was nice. Beds comfortable. But I reserved king size beds for all my rooms. Upon arrival I got 1 king and 2 double rooms. This has happened a couple of times. If I reserve a certain type room I should get what I paid for

The Hotel used the "Due to Covid" excuse to nix essential services, like cleaning... The room was gross. It was clear the carpet had not been vacuumed in some time because there were food crumbs everywhere. The sink did not have a P-trap so the room smelled like sewer gas. Masks were "required" but the employees constantly had them hanging under their chins. Oh yeah, and the room smelled like sewer gas.

The employees were very friendly and the hotel was clean although I still disinfected our room. There was no indication of any specific, extra cleaning measures. You can never be too careful these days. I would stay here again.

Spread & sheets had black on them, electrical outlet covers broken,shower stall paint chips in tub with black mold, floor & toilet had black mold! Was nasty!! Was told at check in ,pool was closed, no contenial breakfast, no housekeeping & I would have to come to front desk each morning for towels to shower with! I paid cash for a week stay as my nephew was murdered. I was not in room more than 10 minutes when I was back at front desk, demanding my money back & showed pictures of room! They gave my cask back but then charged my card for full amount! I had to find another hotel along with already upset over my nephew!! I will never stay at this hotel ever!

should of taken pictures. room and building poorly maintained indicating lack of investment from owner and maintenance of Engineering and management. tp holder coming out of wall. mold in shower. missing grout and caulk. floors dirty. Exterior areas also dirty with trash and not maintained. check was fine.

Sheets and pillows had stains and just small things like the hole where the shower head goes in the wall not covered up as it wiggles. Was overall very good

Room was extremely clean and the staff was great. They were courteous and very accommodating by answering all of my questions and addressing any concerns regarding activities around the area.

Really disappointed for a Holiday Inn. We booked on line and it said there was a pool which we were looking forward to after a long day on the road. However, when we arrived, there was a notice at checkin that said the pool was not available. The checkin person said that it had been down for a while but they just hadnt gotten around to fixing it. Disappointed. The heater in the room was noisy and we found the carpet soaked underneath it in the morning. It felt more like a Motel 6 than a Holiday Inn. There were positive things. The bed comfortable, the room spacious, breakfast o.k. I think we will try something different when in this area.

Nothing unique about the property that I could see.Did not like that the toilet was not fastened very well to the floor.

Mostly adequate but the plumbing needs an update and the entry driveway needs better signage. The toilets are small and do no work well. Shower water temperature does not adjust well. We drove past the hotel because the driveway was dark ans hard to see.

Loved the Breakfast. But the room smelled funny and the air conditioner was very noisy.

I reserved a suite as always. The suite was smaller than a standard room. I know this because some friends had rented a room at the same Holiday inn and when I went to their room, it was triple the size of our “suite”. Our “suite” only had one TV. And NO working pool! If you have kids you know how important two tv’s and a pool are! & Our shower gel/shampoo/conditioner bottles were empty! Not worth the $$$. I could have stayed in an Embassy suite for the same price! The Pros-friendly staff, easy check in/check out, breakfast, and cold AC in our “suite”.

I had booked a reservation for 5 rooms for a golf outing. I received confirmation numbers for all 5 rooms. On the day of arrival I called the hotel around 10 AM to inform them that we would be a late arrival. I was told they only had 1 room and Expedia was at fault. The hotel manager also told me they wouldn’t charge me for the one room when I canceled for that room, they charged me anyhow. Very disappointed whit the hotel management and Expedia!!!

From the outside, the hotel looks completely acceptable. When you walk into the lobby it was extremely plain in comparison to my previous days at Holiday Inn express. Since this was only a one night stay, I didn’t let that deter me. However, I should have. The tile in the elevator was loose and smelly. There was a large hairball in our shower, The bathroom floor was sticky, and the carpet was dirty. There was also cobwebs in every corner of the room. Won’t be back.

Facilities need repairs. Tile loose on the elevator, our room bathroom and hallway, our room door hinges squeaked. Breakfast variety was good but the eggs were undercooked

An average hotel. Nothing out of the ordinary. Friendly staff and a good breakfast.The room was clean and comfortable but the carpet was stained in quite a few places.The ice maker wasn't working on the second floor.
