Hôtel Universel in Rivière-du-Loup

We have stayed here many times over the years and recently stayed while the restaurant is under renovation. It was very subpar to what it was previously - extremely overpriced for the quality and quantity of food (dinner and breakfast). Mediocre at best and will likely impact whether we choose to stay here for future visits.

We always stay here, however they are rebuilding the dinning room but have accomodated well in the conference room. Prices in the dining room appear to be much higher than in the past. But overall, we were comfortable.

Was asked to give a $200.00 dep for dog, paid by mastercard then bever got a receipt. Left in am checking out again never received a receipt for hotel stay, have no idea what they will charge to my card - custmer service terrible

Very nice accommodations, well-lit and decorated hallways, rooms are modern. The quality of the food at the restaurant was surprisingly tasty. Had the crab cake and club sandwich (was in the mood for comfort food), and it totally hit the spot. The smoked ham at breakfast was superb. The dining area has obviously been modified from a conference room, and meets space requirements vis-a-vis COVID, but isn't pretty. The quality of the food totally compensates for it, though

Very much a travel hotel so a little tired in the common areas and hallways. Room was clean and well appointed, bed was comfortable and bathroom was very clean and modern. Check in and check out was seamless. Didn't use any of the facilities- was perfect for our one night to break up our drive.

unique entrave and lobby

Tv wasn’t working when I arrived. Also, discovered no second roll of toilet paper in the middle of the night, which wasn’t pleasant. Also, the $35 per dog was an insane price to pay for bringing our pets. I wish the cost was upfront in the Expedia booking so we weren’t blindsided.

Totally not worth the price advertised for one night (~$235)This was by far the worst check-in/out experience I ever had. No “hi, welcome” and no details on the property and surroundings were provided (not to mention this hotel is already hard to navigate).Some of the furniture had dust and we found hairs in the bathtub. We were given a handicap room as “superior room” with low amenities (countertop, bathtub, ect).Not impress with the staff overall given that this is a hospitality/tourism/customer service facility. All restaurants in the area were fully booked or at capacity (including fast food).

This is an amazing Days Inn. We loved our suite. Very clean.Great breakfast,too. We have nothing negative to say!!

This hotel loves pets and your dog (dogs) are made to feel very welcome. It was awesome to not have to worry about this ! Well done!

The superior rooms have sound proof walls which did the job as we did not hear a thing. Just a few things while checking in. No one explained anything about the pool or anything about the hotel. As there was no information in the rooms either we weren't even sure what was at our disposal at the hotel. In the room, it was inconvenient to have to get on your knees in order to reach the plugs under the tables by the bed.

The room was okay. Nothing special, but functional and clean. TV had weak signal problem, so if was difficult to watch programs.

The room was clean and comfortable. Perfect for our road trip.

The property is in excellent condition. The only problem is that there on only elevator for a 3 story building which is very busy. We used the stairs often as the wait times had many people standing. The stairs were a quick alternative and good excercise as we willing used them.

The property is beautiful the vintage building has unique carácter. Perfect located Will stay again for sure

The pet friendly rooms with a patio door were a blessing !

The parking was adequate, but a bit of a pain when the hotel is so full. We parked way in the back. The parking was not a huge deal.We liked the location, close to the highway but also close enough to attractions and the downtown. The rooms are very nice, and were also spotless. Staff were friendly.
