You can’t get a better location. In the heart of the city just 2 blocks away from Younge & Dundas square and the Eaton Center. Complimentary breakfast was a plus as well! Staff were kind and prompt with any questions I had. No complaints about them at all. Weiterlesen
My room’s lights either didn’t work or barely worked. Hallway light flickered and bedroom light did not work at all. If I was in my room past 7pm I was in pitch darkness. Room had weird stains on the floor and water damage on the ceiling. We checked in, get to the room and it is not cleaned. Housekeeping told us it was not even on their list of rooms to prepare and to go back to check in.

You Get What You Pay For

The booking was deceptive, on booking.com it gave a "total price", but then there was tax added when it came time to actually pay. (388.80 vs 439.34). Absolutely no fault to the Chestnut people, but booking.com should really fix that to say "subtotal" if it's a subtotal. Started our stay off on a bad note.
The rooms are not set up to be a conventional hotel. There is no mini fridge in the room, no tv, no bedside lamps.
No access to the little balcony. The only outlets are on the opposite side of the room from the beds, so bring a long cord.
My brother came to meet us for a Jays game and arrived while we were getting ready. They said absolutely no guests and wouldn't let him come up to our room with me while we got ready. Just a stupid rule.

It is a dump. It’s dormitory housing for U of T students and what is ok for teens away from home for the first time is not acceptable for adults and certainly not for the price. Stayed here before. Location is hard to beat, staff is friendly, good at their job and went the extra mile to accommodate my disabilities. This used to be a Ramada that was converted to a residence. My door did stick from time to time (again, see older property rhat and is slowly getting updated). The windows could have been cleaned (on the outside. Granted, there was construction going on across the way. It's Toronto, so there's always construction going on!) Ice machine was not working BUT the front desk staff would get ie from the kitchen for me. In the second room in the last night lights in the living room stoped working, the technician was unable to REPLACE THE BULB, as result we had to pack out bags in the darkness hopping we won't forget something important.

It was cheaper the price for two beds one bedroom, compared from other hotels nearby. It’s Free breakfast which was excellent but be aware guys!! it happened to us that my child didnt finish the muffin, so I ate it because i don’t want to waste it and i didn’t eat mine and brought my muffin outside the canteen but the lady in the front desk told us we are not allowed to bring the muffin outside the canteen because someone from inside (staff) just followed us and that means she almost to confronted us and tell it too. For me, that’s crazy and felt uncomfortable that moment. It’s just a muffin and I am not going to return it where i got it because of the Covid thing and i already touched it. I loved that it felt super safe with the 24 hour security guard. Also the location was AMAZING! Right next to the subway entrance, city hall, and within walking distance to everywhere downtown. It is like a traditional dorm room! My boyfriend and I had no problems with it because we are in college and are used to it, but his parents did not like that there was no TV, and it wasn’t very visually appealing. My only complaint is that the beds were not very comfy, but if you are only planning on being here to sleep, shower, and for breakfast- this place is PERFECT! The building is in rough shape. It's old and beat up. Currently there is lots of construction inside and outside on the street. The room is basic (we had two double beds, two wardrobes, two desks, two bedside tables). Our bathroom had a cracked sink and stains on the counter but it was fine. It didn't feel dirty or creepy. I fell in the room and the staff really tried to be of assistance when it developed that i had to go to TGH emergency.
The front desk has an onerous job, but they tried to assist me with ice, extra blanket. etc. The cook was most helpful with a bag of snack food to take to my room, security were very helpful in being available and supplying me with a contact number for nights, the head of security responded immediately to my call for help and stayed with me until the para meds arrived. The condition of the premises is poor - as well as a poor reflection on previous student occupants. The damage and decline of the property was shocking. The fact that there are no "usual hotel items" such as a television, telephone to reach

Understand Covid has taken a toll on business, but..
- escalator and half the elevators didn't work
-front door where card is needed was closed for repair.
- sat on one bed to take off shoes and it crushed to the floor. Other opposite corner leg went 10 inches up in the air. Some one had jammed a bedside table underneath hoping to prevent that.

There was no microwave, tae/coffee making facility, fridge in the room, not even facial tissue. I can understand that the property is a student accommodation. The furnitures in the room were really old, the bed was really uncomfortable. The towels are so old that little pieces of towels stay on our skins when we got off the shower. Also, the toilet got clogged twice during our stay of 2 nights. Concerning the view, our room had a view on the buildings but the windows were so dirty that it was impossible to see clearly the view. How can it be a 3-stars hotel?

1) incredibly dirty in the rooms. First time ever i saw such dirt in the rooms. I get that its a students dorm, but if you advertise on booking, please take time educating your housekeepers to clean properly. Dirt was everywhere. Hair, stains, dust - brrr
2) towels - its a pain. Every towel i had was either with massive stains or with lots of smn's hair. That not what i enjoy for my money
3) Breakfast is served from plastic dishes. Not really sure how safe it becomes when it comes to hot stuff in it. I'd raise this question to health ministry of Toronto
summary: I have to be fair, location is ok. Not perfect, but good enough. if you are prepared to take your own towel / bed sheets and can tolerate dirt in the room, go for it. If not, just pass and find other alternatives. Weiterlesen
