Feb 2019We loved our stay here! There was plenty of room for our five families and the amenities were good to have since it rained our entire stay. Thanks for the great fireplace - we kept a fire going strong most of the weekend and it was perfect.
Two points of critique -
1 - the lights in the house are not very bright - there were lots of switches but some of them didn't seem to lead to anything
2 - the house doesn't have any board games so bring some if you want them

Dec 2022This place is better than advertised. I would definitely rent again. Best Thanksgiving ever. Plenty of rooms and lots of space. Party of 10 adults and one minor. A few minor glitches, but management (Sue and Abbie) did a great job of communicating and resolving issues immediately. I agree with quite a few of the reviews, the landscape needs to be addressed. The lighting was not the best, but harder to figure out, which switch turned on specific lights. The game/entertainment room downstairs, was good, but would've been better if the fireplace was usable. Instructions should be available to use projector. I figured it out on my own, but it took some time. Overall I would rate an A+.

We spent Thanksgiving at this cabin with 11 people, including kids and grandparents and it was perfect for this. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy and not feel like we were on top of each other. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a large Thanksgiving meal with two ovens, a warmer, two sinks, KitchenAid pro mixer, and tons of pots, pans and casserole dishes. The highlight was the very large fireplace with plenty of firewood for all four days-we built a fire every day and kept it going all day long! Beautiful view and the inside was appointed very well with beautiful furniture and decorations. The home was easy to get to with paved road and driveway. The bathrooms were nice and big as were the sleeping areas. Our only drawback was that the a/v equipment didn’t all function. The home has an in-home audio system throughout all the e rooms but it didn’t work the entire time we were there. The projector downstairs was one thing we were excited about but you could only watch the 7-8 cable channels-we were unable to stream any movies or live tv through streaming services like Netflix or Hulu which was disappointing because we wanted to watch Christmas movies and football on the huge screen. But overall, we had a fantastic few days and would recommend especially if you need a lot of space for multiple families!

Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy and not feel like we were on top of each other. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a large Thanksgiving meal with two ovens, a warmer, two sinks, KitchenAid pro mixer, and tons of pots, pans and casserole dishes. The highlight was the very large fireplace with plenty of firewood for all four days-we built a fire every day and kept it going all day long! Beautiful view and the inside was appointed very well with beautiful furniture and decorations. The home was easy to get to with paved road and driveway. The bathrooms were nice and big as were the sleeping areas. Our only drawback was that the a/v equipment didn’t all function. The home has an in-home audio system throughout all the e rooms but it didn’t work the entire time we were there. The projector downstairs was one thing we were excited about but you could only watch the 7-8 cable channels-we were unable to stream any movies or live tv through streaming services like Netflix or Hulu which was disappointing because we wanted to watch Christmas movies and football on the huge screen. But overall, we had a fantastic few days and would recommend especially if you need a lot of space for multiple families!

It does have the disadvantage of being far from everything. That is great if that is what you desire but in retrospect it was not a good fit for us. The cabin is very large and accommodates many people well. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen had a wonderful supply of nice sharp knives. It was overall clean but needs a thorough deep cleaning for dust webs in corners. The accumulation of dirt on the wine rack was remarkable. (They did offer a bottle of wine on the house though, a nice touch.) The cabin is overall very dark, even with all the lights on and the sun shining..something to keep in mind if traveling with the elderly. The landscaping which I am sure once was lovely, is in deep need of attention. There was not a single hanger in any of the bedrooms except for 2 clip hangers. Most notably, there was a beautiful bar in the basement but NO BAR GLASSES at all. (except for plenty of wine glasses and beer mugs upstairs)The basement projection TV was very nice but no games were functional( pinball, bowling). The karaoke machine worked but the only music that we could find was a Christmas CD.Overall this could be a great property with a 5 star review if these few improvements could be made and you don't mind being far from everything (30 min or more).

Our family of 10 enjoyed their stay at Bliss for our son’s autumn wedding. Bliss is gorgeous inside with plenty of room to house a large group. It offers breathtaking views out of floor to ceiling windows. It has a fabulous well equipped kitchen, a wonderful cozy hearth fireplace, a screened in porch and fairly comfortable beds. Be sure to bring extra towels and your own hangers. The home offers many lovely bathrooms on 3 levels of the home and a fun game room on the lower level. Leatherwood Resort offers a beautiful rustic setting with outdoor activities and a no hassle check-in and check out. Be sure to bring all your meal needs
when you check in as the closest grocery store is a half hour away. There’s only one small restaurant on site at Leatherwood which could not accommodate our
group of 30 rehearsal dinner guests but we were able to host at Bliss using Saddle-brook grill delicious and reasonable cost catering. The owners were wonderful. They were friendly and helpful in planning our wedding weekend. We would recommend Leatherwood to anyone who enjoys a rustic but comfortable setting.

VRBO had listed this cabin as "Boone", which is misleading. the location is extremely remote and not close to ANYTHING. a bit frustrating since we thought we were staying in Boone/Blowing Rock, when in fact both of those towns are 1 hour away up and over a mountain. The house was absolutely gorgeous. From the beautiful, unique equestrian themed decor, to the breathtaking views, to the house itself, this property exceeded all expectations in every way. The only suggestion that I would give, is that someone should come around to the properties to collect trash from time to time. To expect guests to travel all the way down the mountain with trash bags in their vehicles, sort of takes away from the “luxury vacation” experience. Other than this small detail, it was an awesome stay for our family and we HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing chance to “get away from it all”.

The views are truly spectacular, and the home is really uniquely decorated and incredibly comfortable. Plenty of bedrooms and baths for a good size party, and the kitchen is really well setup with high end appliances and accessories. We loved the game area with the pool and ping pong tables, not to mention the great sitting area. There are a few things that were not up to par with what I expected. The sound system and large projection theatre system is really old technology and difficult to try and get to work, so I wouldn’t plan on using them. It needs to be updated to use wireless so you can access your own streaming service for movies. Also, the outside area is not like shown in the photos. It really is not comfortably accessible because it has become overgrown, same with the “garden” off the upstairs bedroom. It’s all weeds. Overall the location and house itself is really an incredible experience. I want to add that Leatherwood Resort is really beautiful and well run. The small cafe and stables are a great plus. The management was easy to work with and the maintenance crew was right there to help us get the theatre equipment up and running. Great job Leatherwood!

Bliss Mountain Lodge is a beautiful 5 bedroom, 5.5 bath house. It is fully equipped and extremely comfortable. The home needs some serious TLC- the oven under the microwave does not work. It cooks only on the top when in bake mode and burns the food. The broil function gives an error. The other oven under the stove does work. The steaming oven under the stove needs water in the tank and therefore does not function. When cooking Christmas and New Year’s dinner it would have been nice to have the kitchen fully functional.
It has two sets of clothes washers and dryers which is very convenient.
The beds are comfortable. The water system is an issue. It lacks pressure. Two people cannot shower at the same time as there is not enough pressure and it goes to a slow trickle.
The main TV/game area on the bottom floor does not have a working fireplace and that is a definite disappointment. The pin ball machine does not work as the flapper gets stuck immediately and you cannot play.
The house has a lot of great things but they are not functioning.
This is the second time we stay here and will be the last unless things are made to function. Leatherwoods is a beautiful place and we have been going for 7 years and will definitely go back. Great people, trails are wonderful and the general area is very beautiful

Bliss Mountain Lodge is an excellent place to stay. It is a beautiful cabin set in a beautiful mountain range. The cabin was furnished with everything you need to complement your stay. The only issues we encountered was the fridge was a bit dirty, the fold out couch downstairs has some food in it. I relayed this to the office the day after we checked in and the day we checked out. The lady that makes the reservation, forgot her name, refunded us our cleaning fee. They resolved the situation with no issue. The staff are very friendly and understanding. Overall my stay was excellent.
