What an amazing opportunity we had staying at Lori's cabin on a cliff! Memories were made that will last a lifetime! Pictures can not capture the beauty of this hideaway! Her cabin was spotless, welcoming, warm, and inviting! She was a joy to work with!! Thank you, Lori, for memories that will linger always!

The building itself is a gorgeous, authentic log cabin, but it has to be the beauty and remoteness of the setting that makes this be "once in a lifetime ." Perched on the canyon cliff, watching the birds dancing in and out of their rock face caves, I spent three days without seeing or hearing another person. My time at the Red Canyon was blissful and restorative.

We were looking for a nice quiet getaway. This place was perfect. While there we never saw another person. The cabin was clean and ready for use. The outside setup was amazing. Just to sit and look out over the view...and to have a hot tub for use. The owners were very nice and I would definitely like to stay at this location again!

We were able to enjoy both sunny and snowy weather at the cabin and I have to say it was one of the best places we have ever stayed. We spent one night playing games and just watching the snow fall next to the wood burning fireplace. So much to do, you don’t have to leave but it’s a short drive to Custer State Park. I hope to come back again, we miss it already.

We spent 4 beautiful nights. We enjoyed the fall hikes and the warmer afternoons to read overlocking the canyon. The bar and grill in Pringle did not disappoint with the prime rib special on the Friday night we enjoyed supper. I believe I sat in one of the most beautiful, quiet places on earth and filled my soul.

We just got home, from our 9 day stay at the Red Canyon Cabin and it was amazing. I’m not sure who was more excited to be there, my wife and I or our high school age daughters. Their initial reaction was simply, “Wow”...and then silence. Lori was a fantastic communicator and never tired of our constant questions in the months prior to our visit. This was our second visit to the Black Hills, so we had done most of the touristy stuff and enjoyed hanging back at the cabin. As amazing as the picture are they do not do the views or the cabin justice. It is truly a very unique property and we are very grateful of Lori sharing it with us. We did one day trip to Keystone, and another to Sylvan Lake for a hike on Sunday Gulch trail. While at the cabin we did see the mule deer in the field to the North, Buffalo in the neighbors field as you come in. The birds playing along the canyon edge are a constant source of entertainment. I hiked down to the canyon below twice, and it quite an experience with refreshing untouched views of nature it’s awesome views of the cabin from below. The most rewarding hike was definitely the ridgeline to the west. If you follow out towards the logging trail west of the cabin you can cut through the woods up at the northern end of the ridge. There are a few steeper sections (about like climbing up 3 separate sledding hills from home), but much of the ridge is open prairie with views to the East, South and West. Amazing. Once out to the tip you can see the cabin in the distance. The hotub was amazing for after hikes and enjoying the view. The cabin is very comfortable and well stocked with plates, cookware, towels, etc. we bought gallon jugs of water from the Family Dollar in Custer. We brought a lot of food from home, and purchased perishables at Walmart in Rapid City on the way in. This cabin is very remote and highly recommend you come prepared as “popping out” for a coffee or gallon of milk will be a 90 minute round trip, that could be better spent on the deck. Kitchen table was fantastic for enjoying the views and playing board games. We wound down after dinner each night by taking a short walk up the lane to the gate, and usually got to see 2 mule deer each evening. If you are on the fence if you should do this, my advice, is do it. It is truly a bucket list vacation.

We had such a great time here, there is so much to do around the state, and around the cabin there are trails as well. The host was thoughtful she kept in contact with us the whole time, if we had any questions, she was answering within an hour, and the only questions I had were where did she get stuff because I liked all the stuff she around the cabin. We enjoy the hot tub, and the night sky, so many stars. All the beds are comfortable, I think I got the best sleep there. The cabin is secluded, quiet and perfect. We would recommend this place to anyone.

We had a great time at the cabin! It was so cozy and relaxing up there. The view was stunning!! It was a very romantic getaway. It was very clean and cozy. Great cabin to get far away from the real world for a bit.

We had a GREAT time at Red Canyon Cabin. To say this is a beautiful place is definitely an understatement! It has AMAZING views and the stars look just like in the picture. We hiked down both ends of the canyon and spent lots of time down there —- it is definitely a must. Also Lori is a great host. Very easy to get in contact with and she gave us lots of information on nearby things to do but you won’t want to leave this picturesque place. Will definitely stay again!

We chose the home because of the beautiful view and the log cabin experience. The pictures were accurate but you can’t know the feeling of the beauty and until you experience the stay. The flowers surrounding the cabin were beautiful. We owned a log home for 15 years so we really loved experiencing the warmth and beauty of the wood again! Plenty of amenities! Upon leaving the shops at Custer there is a scenic and peaceful 25 minute drive on gravel roads to reach the cabin. The view of the canyon, the red rocks and the mountains is breathtaking. The cabin is comfortable with all the amenities needed for relaxing, reading, cooking and cleaning. We enjoyed the hot tub, the views and stargazing at night. It is very quiet with the exception of the friendly birds. Communication with Lori was fantastic.

This was the most perfect escape for us, especially in these stressful times. The location is utterly beautiful and remote. The canyon views are ever changing and always amazing. We really enjoyed watching the feathered visitors to the little bird pond. We had the excitement of an October snow so the fireplace was particularly delightful. With COVID ongoing, we brought all our own food and the kitchen had everything we needed. The grill was awesome. The cabin was perfect in every way and we can't wait to come back and experience the beauty of a different season. Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us!!

This was our second time renting this cabin and again, we were completely taken with it. The setting is nothing less than stunning, sitting on the edge of the canyon. The design of the deck allows you to look directly into the canyon and the vista beyond, with no railing blocking that spectacular view. It took our breath away the first time there and did not disappoint on the second trip. The changing path of the sun around the cabin and canyon is a show in itself. The ever-changing light in the canyon creates unending interest.On our first visit we had planned for some day trips but given how spectacular the cabin and setting were, we never left and that was how we planned our second trip, to stay there the entire time. We had all we needed, great views from a large and inviting deck space, a hot tub, and a beautiful cabin with a well-appointed kitchen so we could plan and make great meals to enjoy in a great space. The lay-out of the cabin is ideal for 2 adult couples like our group. We have never really used the loft-space.The cabin itself is beautiful, and very well maintained and spotlessly clean and welcoming. The large windows in the kitchen / dining space bring in incredible light and warmth, as well as a stunning over-the canyon view. The kitchen appliances are in great shape and work well. There is a stacked washer/dryer for use if needed.Beyond the spectacular canyon views, the exterior planting beds / gardens around the cabin are beautifully done and seem to be expanding making a lovely space to walk around and appreciate. The bubbling water feature to the side of the deck brings both birds and chipmunks to drink, and added much enjoyment to our deck-sitting experience.For anyone interested in walking and hiking, there are easy and challenging options. Easy being the road in to the cabins and the paths to the descent into the canyon. The canyon descent hike is a bit more challenging but well worth it. It did take us awhile to find the most optimal way both down and then out again and our group hiked into the canyon nearly every day of our 5-night stay. The host also suggested a neighbor to us who cooks genuine Thai meals for guests. We decided to try this option for our first night’s meal and we were very impressed with the quality and quantity of food we received. The chef delivered the meals and was delightful to chat with. The meal was absolutely delicious and we would strongly recommend using this option.

This was an amazing place to stay! We enjoyed hiking, hot tub, bird watching, enjoyed the sound of the little water fall feature and relaxing on the deck! Everything was super clean and neat. I loved the landscaping around the cabin. The view from the cabin was breath taking. Thank you for sharing this amazing place with us. Oh, Nina's Thai food was so good too!

This property was perfect for what we needed. Peaceful and a beautiful view. The stars at night were amazing. We all loved it.

This property is simply gorgeous. Beautiful remote and private location. Breathtaking views from every angle inside and outside of the cabin. The flowers, water feature and landscaping were so nice and the cabin is spotless. There wasn't one thing we needed during our stay that wasn't provided with the cabin. This is definitely a very special place and we really enjoyed our very relaxing stay!

This property far exceeded our expectations and we could not wait to arrive. It is absolutely perfect. The beautifully appointed cabin and the views can not be found anywhere. We frequent the Black Hills often and this is the crown jewel of the Black Hills. We loved the solitude and upscale amenities. Property owner is always available via text and responds quickly to questions. We will be back. Love it and miss it already.

This place is amazing! The view of the canyon is spectacular from inside the cabin as well as outdoors. We spent a lot of time just being still, sitting by the fire, and looking at all the views there are to take in! This truly was a place for us to get away, unwind, and recharge!

This is an awesome cabin in a jaw-droppingly beautiful area, we enjoyed every bit of the space and the wonderful outdoor views. The house is very well stocked, the bed was extremely comfortable (the best we've had so far on VRBO), and the outdoor space with hot tub, lounge chairs, gardens and *that view* was amazing. Thank you Lori for the great experience, and thanks for passing on Nina's information so we could have Thai at home for our anniversary dinner!

This cabin was everything we wanted: beautiful views, quiet, surrounded by lots of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, evenings by the fireplace- and the hot tub with a perfect view. It was just what our family needed to relax and escape from the stress of daily life. Our teenage daughter was very sad to leave and asked to go back inside as we were leaving to say goodbye to it- this speaks volumes! The owner, Lori, was extremely responsive. She has created one of the most peaceful and comfortable places we’ve ever been. We are so thankful that she shared it with us.

This cabin is perfect in every way. It is clean, comfortable and completely private. The views are amazing. Lori is a wonderful host - responsive and very easy to work with. My husband and I were looking for a relaxing getaway and Lori's cabin couldn't have been more wonderful. It was difficult to leave when our stay was over.
