Jun 2021We liked the location - close walk to the Mediterranean resto and convenient in the opposite direction to the kraton area and Marlioboro. The house itself is very nice - newly renovated old dutch colonial house. Not as antiqueish as we expected ... but very nice all the same.
Had to open the gates to the property ourselves for car entry because noone was around. Too long a time for check in and had to search for the staff when we arrived. Breakfast choice was Jogya gudeg only - a sweet jackfruit curry. So we passed on breakfast even though one reason we booked was because breakfast was provided. So the place is nice, but if you are looking for a hotel with breakfast be warned - yes, there is breakfast, but its not what you might expect.

Dec 2022The location inside the kingdom was quiet and you could feel the home atmosphere. The design of the space allowed for plenty of natural light in all directions. The landscaping lends to the space and we were impressed by the lack of mosquitoes and enjoyed watching the geckos feasting on the porch in the evening.
Atypic guesthouse near Keraton
Oct 2019The house itself has traditional design of javanesse, not that far from Keraton. Breakfast is included and they serve a home cook dish, delicious! The staffs are nice. We may also rent a car & driver or ask for another touristic actitivites

The socket was just only one at the working table. Actually it would be great if the sockets could be for the table lamp, lap top, handphone, watch charger, etc. The more the better. However, they were very helpful and provided me the extension cord.

Unfortunately all the fans were out of order in the open areas. caretakers of the property informed that there has been a thunder and lightning that caused damage to all the fans , since fans parts are difficult to find hence it is taking time to repair

only their idea of coffee is a little strange...pouring hot water on blended coffee beans seems a little odd, so we sticked to the tea bags
Lots of potential, needs better staff to be a great place to stay
Jan 2023Beautiful building, which is a newly built house inspired by old colonial architecture. Also very nicely furnished, with a big veranda at the front and a lovely breakfast / relaxation room at the back.
Rooms were not super spacious but very clean, good shower and AC, and a big comfortable bed.
Also a great location for exploring the city enter and its sights (The Kraton) as well as getting to the train station quickly (10 min by car) or walk to the neighbouring Prawirotawan with its many restaurants and bars
The staff and service were really not up to standard. The boy(s) who are there fulltime speak little to no English and simple requests such as “can we book one of the advertised tours?”, “can we extend our stay?”, or “can we have a different juice (or no juice!) at breakfast?” were impossible to communicate, even with Google Translate at hand. There is a lady who seemed to supervise it all and she was able to help but she wasn’t around all every day.
Staff also locked the front gate and front door, but weren’t always there to open it for us when we wanted to get in. Neither were we given a key or instructions on what to do. While eventually something always worked out, it made the whole experience feel somewhat inhospitable.
