Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori

Lovely location as you would expect, near the cable car to take you up the mountain for spectacular views of Mt. Fuji.

Make sure you take advantage of the free shuttle bus from Odawara station. We missed it in the small print and paid a fortune to take a cab from Hakone station. If you have tattoos you cannot use the public Onsen and the private ones are not worth the money in my opinion. Very small with a view of one indoor tree. Difficult to feel we got value for money all in all.

depending on rooms allocated, some are a bit far out from the lobby, due to the size of the place, meals may be a bit crowded

gorgeous property with a convenient to Togendai station, easy to take pirate cruise or ropeway. Good with kid, as there has a yukata for kid in the room. Well prepared for kid chair while having breakfast or dinner.

shuttle bus should have more round to the station.

Everything was very pleasant, the location of the hotel, the cleanliness of the room, the dinner. But most of all I liked the professionalism of the staff.All very kind and with a smile on their face.Thank you!

Dinner & breakfast were both buffet but great. Taste good and lot of variety. The staff was very good to help out when needed. Of the two Onsen (men and women) the men's onsen didn't have a great view but had good variety (sauna, rotemburo, salted onsen, and normal onsen). But good thing is that the next day they swap men and women onsens - so you get to experience both. So nothing to complain. We booked two standard Rooms - lake facing - they were amazing. Nothing can beat the experience. The amenities, the view, the set up.

I booked the hotel about a month in advance. Still, the lunch and dinner slots I got - once I reached the hotel, were either too early (7 am for breakfast, 5:15 pm for dinner) or too late (8:30 am for breakfast, 8:00 pm for dinner). This was a turndown because Hotel should have contacted me to ask for those times early on. What annoyed me was that some other guests were offered earlier dinner timing by staff standing next to us. The bed mattress was not good for me. But I understand it's hard to get it right for each individual.

Comfortable, buffet included was good variety. Was a good ryokan hotel. Looks like a hotel where locals enjoy.

It is quite far from rest of Hakone so ve prepared to take some time to get to hotel. But it is nice serene and peaceful.

Beautiful room with lots of elegant little details, open air bath is perfect. Onsen was so nice. The hotel is really great. Breakfast and dinner were really special.

The location is a little far, and the free shuttle system only operates at weird impractical hours. So we the 10am shuttle was fully booked, which is check out time, and the onsen is closed, so you have yo wait randomly sitting in the lobby until 2 pm for the next one! Or take a very expensive bus.. seems so silly not to have more shuttles earlier.
