We really enjoyed our 12 nights at Bart’s home. He was a pleasure to communicate with and the house was better than expected. The patio was so enjoyable every afternoon as our young children napped. We enjoyed snorkeling right from the back steps. All the great beaches are less than 10 minutes away. We would certainly stay again. Thank you Bart!

We loved everything about our stay. Beautiful home, clean,spacious comfortable beds. stocked with everything you need for the week.(just fill the fridge) Bart is super, left us alone but was there if we needed him. Sunsets on the deck were amazing, snorkeling out back and over to the beach was awesome. We will be back! Thanks again Bart !

We had a fantastic time during our stay in Lagun. We couldn't ask for a better place for 2 couples to enjoy a week without kids! The property is spectacular and the view is breathtaking. There are plenty of things to do on the island as well.

We enjoyed our time in Lagun, Curacao. The house is very comfortable, clean, well maintained, and stocked with essentials. We found it to be conveniently located to several beaches and spectacular views. The owners were very helpful especially in providing directions when we first arrived.

We booked this away from the downtown. Actually, we found few beaches nearby that's super beautiful. House is nice and we enjoyed our stay at the house. Only 1 restaurant nearby though. The host is very nice. I am sorry that I had him waited for our arrival for so long cuz we were lost. GPS didn't work too well. Thank-you!!

This was our third stay at this property. It still looks and feel brand new, but one important feature that I would like to highlight is that it feels really safe in the pandemic time. You do not have to interact with other people during your stay, you can use the washing machine to wash your clothes and the provided linen/towels; you can prepare your meals yourself; and you can swim/snorkel right from your backyard. Because of the pandemic, the beaches in Curacao were not crowded, nor was the pedestrian part of Willemstad. All of these made for a pleasant stay. And Bart was incredible as usual, helping us to print our PCR test results for our return flight home.

This is not your typical Caribbean VRBO rental. Why? Bart and his family have designed this beautiful villa as a vacation home for themselves, and this feels. The rooms are spacious, the ceilings are high, the furniture is new, the linens are 100% cotton, the TV is huge with a cable that covers all over the world (100+ US channels, 300+ UK channels and so on), the kitchen appliances are first class, the cutlery is Solingen (we love sharp knives). There is no typical rental nickel- and-diming with the generous supply of cleaning and hygienic products at your disposal. We even found the villa to be suitable to those mobility-challenged as it is essentially a single-level property, although on the veranda there are a couple of stairs that a full-time wheelchair person would have difficulty to navigate. The property certainly stands out on the street which makes it easy to find. One suggestion that we have for Bart is to install a screen on the kitchen window, which would make it easier to ventilate the kitchen while keeping some flying guests at bay. Some practical tips: Complete the ED card online before flying to Curacao – that will save you time in the airport. You can buy fresh fish from the fishermen in Playa Lagun nearby – they come with the catch at about 12:30 pm. Alternatively, drive to Playa Grandi. If you are snorkeling, Playa Lagun will offer you whatever is available on the entire island, and with no crowds in the morning. Check cruise ship time table before visiting Willemstad. You do not want to share the city with thousands of cruisegoers. Electricity on the Island is expensive: about 50 US cents/kwh. Please turn off appliances and especially a/c that you are not using. This will help keep the rent reasonable.

This is a beautiful vacation home that is exactly as the pictures display. The house is very clean and modern. The owner Bart was very kind and informative. Obviously the best part was the direct access to the ocean. The views are amazing and very easy to get right down to the water, yet still have the comfort of "home". There is a nice beach within a few minutes walk. There are several beaches very close by and one with where you can obtain fresh fish and snorkel with huge, magnificence turtles. If you want to get away from the tourist, this is your paradise. But it is a drive from the city, stores, higher end restaurants and port. However the locals were all very nice and we felt very safe. Highly recommend for your upcoming vacation to Curacao.

Apparently we came during mosquito season and had to close up the house to avoid becoming anemic from blood lose. The breeze was generally enough to keep them away outside during most of the day. Who want to be inside when you're in such a beautiul location anyway. We enjoyed the Lagun and Westpunt areas of Curacao and being out of the busy city area. It was a drive to get to bigger grocery stores when needed, but that was expected. We used that time to explore other areas.

The house is a beautifully renovated property 5 min by walking from Lagun Beach, with direct access to the sea. The kitchen is perfectly equipped to suite every needs, the living and the dining room are large (maybe more than appears on the photos) and decorated with very good taste. The large terrace/deck is an ideal spot for sun bathing or for a sundowner drink. There is a good sense of privancy, even if privacy is not 100% guaranteed due to the proximity of the neighborhood on the left (btw lovely guys ) and the building site on the right. The bedrooms are large, with comfy beds and a/c. A minor issue is related to the barking dogs at night. The stretch of sea in front of the house is amazingly crystal clear and offers wonderful snorkel chances. We saw turtles many times just meters from the house. The access to water is via a ladder that can be challenging for elderly people or people with mobility problems. Definitely a super good choice if your are looking for a vacation rental close to the most beautiful beaches of Curaçao and also attractive enough to spend hours just sipping your wine looking at the beautiful seascape in front of you.

The home is beautiful. It would be nice to have AC in the den and kitchen areas. The slate on the back deck was slippery when wet. Overall, we had a great time.

The west side of Curaçao is known for its beaches. It is far less tourist-y, but that means the restaurant options are limited in the area. Most restaurants close at 8-9pm and kitchens will close early on a particularly slow night. The drive to Willemstad is about 30 minutes if you wanted a later dinner or to go shopping. That is also where you will find the larger grocery stores. Lagun is a little town situated around some of the most gorgeous beaches you have ever seen. If your goal is to simply relax at the beach during your stay, this is an idea home. But be aware that renting a car is a necessity. We couldn’t have been more happy with this home and our vacation. The owner was really responsive via the VRBO app and even came to the home to fix a WiFi issue one evening. We would absolutely rent from the Schuttes again.

Our family of 6 stayed at Bart and Geneve's house in Lagun in June 2018. It was perfect! Three comfortable bedrooms, well appointed kitchen and living room, large private patio with barbecue, outdoor shower, and bathroom, and direct access to the ocean. The beds are comfortable, and each of the bedrooms has an AC to keep you cool at night. WOW. Everything is in great condition. This place is a dream, and we can't wait to visit again. It is obvious Bart and Geneve really care about this place. Its kind of hard to tell about the ladder to the ocean by the pics, but its really easy to use. Most of the time, we'd just jump off the ledge into the water, its probably 8 feet or so, and use the ladder to climb back out. Plus, you can snorkel or swim from the ladder over to Lagun beach and see some cool stuff on the way. Its a fun evening activity to swim over to Lagun beach, have a cocktail at Bahia, then walk home. The street the house is on has the usual mix places, from the occasional shanty to really big ocean-front houses. In all, we felt perfectly safe. As for mosquitoes, which I noticed in some reviews, I didn't notice any more, or less, here than in other Caribbean islands, and I have definitely been in places where they are way worse. Off works fine for them. If it were my place, I'd get a few zappers up and running inside, but not really a big deal. We were on the fence regarding staying at a resort vs a house, and we are so glad we chose the latter. While I love maid and room service and all the buzz that resorts offer, it's hard to beat a quiet sunset overlooking the ocean with your family after a busy day swimming, diving, and exploring. Our main activity was SCUBA diving, and there are several really nice reefs within 15 minutes of the house. Plus, there is a garage to stow your gear in while it airs out in the evenings. In all, it was exactly what we had hoped for and we look forward to our next visit, which will hopefully be sooner than later.

Just as advertised! Very nice personal contact with the landlord. We had a pleasant stay and can recommended to anyone, who seeks the privacy, that can not be found when staying in a hotel or resort! The house was fully stocked, clean and comfortable! There are very nice beaches close by. Our favorite was Klein Knip. Playa Lagun was nice to, but a bit to crowded for our taste. With regard to restaurants, we can recommend Discover Lagun (5 min. walk), Jaanchie in Westpunt (10 min. drive) and Shelterrock Paradiese (8 min. drive, off the road to Barber). For quick shopping the Centrum Market in Barber is sufficient. For groceries shopping in Willemstad we can recommend Centrum supermarket and the cost u less (Curaçao version of Costco), both are located on the westside and are about 30 min. away. It was an amazing visit. One of the most beautiful homes on the island with amazing views, private sunrise and sunset, and wonderful home owners. This location on the island is priceless, many private like beaches within 10 minutes. We started thinking about coming back again before we even left. An amazing time!!!

It's going to be pretty hard to find a property at this price point with a better view. On top of the fantastic view, the house itself is nicely updated and has a modern and functional feel to it. You're situated pretty far from Willemstad and most of the civilization on the island, but you're also close to all of the beaches and pretty parts of the island, so it's a trade off. Killer place to stay, and being able to drop off into the ocean from the stairs on the back porch was pretty incredible. Only suggestions I have would be to get some kind of mosquito netting for the house, a bug zapper, or something more effective than Citronella candles. The mosquitoes feasted pretty well on us. And this is a very minor nitpick, but a sound bar would also be super helpful for the TV in the living room because the acoustics are pretty awful if you're trying to hear any dialog in movies that you might watch at night when you're winding down with the family. Again, super minor thing but it's a $100 solution that would be pretty effective.

Ein Traum auf einer Trauminsel. Das Haus ist genau wie beschrieben!! Es fehlte an nichts! Bart und Geneve sind tolle Gastgeber! Ein Auto ist erforderlich, da das Haus relativ weit im Norden der Insel liegt. Zum nächsten Supermarkt (im europäischen Sinne) ist es eine gute halbe Stunde. Kleinere Supermärkte gibt es überall an den Straßen. Vertrauen Sie auf Barts tipps. Sie sind sehr gut!! Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen!! Vielen Dank an die Gastgeber!!!! Couldn't have asked for a nicer contemporary home with a better view (right on the ocean), comfortable bed and lots of quality amenities. It was a real hot-box however as the AC is only in the bedrooms, and unfortunately you can't open the doors or windows in the main areas of the house and kitchen without getting bitten to death by mosquitos because there are no screens on the doors or windows in these areas. Ceiling fans provided very limited ventilation. Thankfully, on our 2nd day we purchased a large fan in a local store which resolved the situation. Otherwise we wouldn't have survived the heat and bugs and probably left early. Hopefully the fan will still be there for other guests to enjoy. We did enjoy the beautiful ocean sunsets, beach chairs (which we took to local beaches), a well appointed kitchen (English instructions for the oven / cooktop would have been helpful), roomy bathrooms (with good water pressure), good wi-fi, a nice large TV (instructions for accessing the channel network would have been helpful), a compact washer / dryer, a charcoal BBQ grill, and availability of a US power outlet in each room. The host Bart was exceptionally helpful, greeting us on arrival and sending an electrician when the bedroom AC unit stopped working one evening. We tremendously enjoyed the nearby beaches and restaurants, as this is a beautiful area of the island which benefits from being a bit remote.

Bart was so kind and helpful. He was easy to reach and greeted us when we arrived. He made spot on recommendations for food and sights to see. The property is a paradise. The water was amazing and we could snorkel to the local beach which never had more than 10-12 people and so many underwater sights to see. We could not have asked for a better place to spend our anniversary. The sunset from the balcony alone was worth the trip. Hope to make it back soon.

Bart was a great host, very accommodating. The house was great but for one thing ,only the bedrooms are air conditioned. When it is 89*f and the humidity is 70%. that is sweltering even with a breeze. We loved everything else about the house, but would not return to it because of that.
