Aug 2022We were three generations of a family gathering a total of 18 people and had plenty of space and a fantastic time. All of the rooms are large so nobody felt like they got a raw deal. The pool is fabulous and the celler with games is great for evening entertainment. Location Luca is fantastic I don’t have anything other than high praise for the villa and the host.

Sep 2019We were a three generation family group of 20 ranging in age from 88 to 4 and the Villa was perfect for us. Everyone had plenty of beautiful spaces. Riccardo cook for us for three nights, which was just lovely. We also had a group come in and do pizzas in the old pizza oven one night which was delicious and tons of fun for the 8 grandchildren. Lorenzo was absolutely lovely and easy to deal with both before we arrived and once we were in the villa. There is a fairly nice 5 mile biking trail into Lucca that we used as a walking trail most mornings. The views from the hike up to the Monastery are lovely. And the road walk to Villa Reale was quite lovely too.

Jun 2019We visited Villa Trenta for a one week family reunion with people aged 8-80. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. Beautiful, authentic, spacious, and comfortable, the Villa was the perfect place for connecting with family, getting alone time, swimming in the beautiful pool, enjoying a cooking class and pizza night. Lorenzo was very accessible and accommodating, setting up events and giving us bus schedules. It was truly something we will all remember.

Jul 2016We just returned home from two wonderful weeks staying at Villa Trenta with dear friends. What an experience! The villa is a romantic time capsule, beautifully maintained, comfortable, and a truly unique place. To be so immersed in the history and beauty of Italy is an experience I will never forget. Isabelle (the owner) and her family were the most gracious hosts, always available to answer questions and making sure we were as comfortable and happy as possible. She was available and helpful but never obtrusive. We loved that the villa was an easy walk to the train station, or into Ponte a Moriano for a trip to the weekly market, tasty dinner, or a mid-day gelato! The pool was beautiful, the grounds magnificently maintained, and the overall experience was top notch. Can't recommend highly enough.

Jul 2016We had the good fortune to spend a week at this property. The house combined charm, elegance and comfort. Most rooms have their own spacious bathroom. Our bedroom was located next to a terrace and was very charming and comfortable. We loved getting up inthe mornings and having coffee in the kitchen with other invitees. The kitchen was roomy and well appointed. The dining room could handle 14 people when we had dinner together. In the evenings we totally enjoyed playing pool, ping pong, and even fooseball. During hot weather it was wonderful to swim in the pool and relax in comfortable lawn chairs, reading or talking to other people. It was one of the best vacation weeks we ever had and we strongly recommend staying here. The owner was wonderful and handled all requests with warmth and grace.

Sep 2017Villa Trenta provided a wonderful and memorable backdrop to our holiday and Isabelle was an attentive and welcoming host.
We were a large family party of 24 with ages ranging from 4-73. Our initial apprehension about age and grandeur eased as everyone became familiar with the layout and feel of the house. In fact, the villa feels very much like a family home and we managed to organise rooms so family groups were either next to each other or children slept with parents (the rooms are huge).
The swimming pool is lovely, well cared for with plenty of shade and a lush grass surround appreciated by children and dogs. The children loved ping pong, table football and chess or cards in the library. Grown-ups valued good wifi, local information and intel from Isabelle, the library and all the places around the property to chill out. The villa’s proximity to Florence, Lucca and Pisa for sightseeing is a bonus, and the younger party members even had an evening in the nightspots of Lucca.
Bathrooms were all working well with hot water all the time. Even in August the villa was cool at night and the fabulously comfortable beds with fans in the bedrooms ensured everyone slept well. The large main kitchen was well equipped and had plenty of space for 8 or more of us to prepare meals together. The smaller upstairs kitchen was useful for early suppers for our younger family members. Housekeeping help in the mornings was a real bonus and recommended for a large group especially for bathrooms and kitchens.
We absolutely loved the terrace for al fresco dinners. Although it is on the other end of the villa from the main kitchen (a challenge for anyone in charge of the ancient trolley with the squeaky wonky wheel) we ate there most evenings for the atmosphere and cool breeze. We employed a chef for one special evening dinner: it was a perfect evening of wonderful food and great service - highly recommended.
There is an excellent supermarket about five minutes’ drive away and the local village walking distance for bread and local produce.
Isabelle gave some of us a fascinating intro to other villas in the area and we visited a couple of her recommendations. Her local knowledge, obvious pride and love of the area and its villas is inspiring.
Our family feedback that they had the best holiday: ‘delightful and relaxing’, ‘a marvelous place with so much character, history and comfort’, ‘a beautiful place to spend time together'.

Jul 2016This is a beautiful villa and property! The owner Isabelle and her family were very kind and thoughtful. Only a few minutes from the train station meant we could easily go to Lucca for the day or just for dinner. Super convenient. The pool was perfect in the afternoons for a swim after sightseeing. Our bed was comfortable as was the entire residence. It was a special experience that my wife and I will never forget!!! Thank you Isabelle and family!!!!!!

Aug 2016This beautiful 16th century villa has charmed all of us. We spent there a week in July, with other 5 families with children. Villa Trenta is simply enchanting piece of Tuscany history, with frescoes walls (my son called the graffiti), furnished with antiques so you can feel like back in time. Surrounding gardens with well maintained trees and plants, superb swimming pool with bouncy bridge, bamboo forest, the tower of close church... this all emphasize the authenticity of being there. The villa is really close to Lucca, so it is very easy to get there by car (15 minutes) or train for day or dinner. The location is suitable for travelling around Tuscany. But what made the week definitely unique were hosts. Isabelle and Massimo are very nice people, openhearted, helpful and sincerely amicable. We will never forget them. And thank you for your great olive oil, Isabelle!

Jul 2022Our stay exceeded our expectations! There was more than ample room for all 18 of us. The pool was awesome and enjoyed by all as was the game room with exciting ping pong matches and pool. We cooked our own pizza in the pizza oven and enjoyed family meals outside. We’ve done this trip in Mexico and the south of France but this was the best yet. Lorenzo was so helpful and accommodating.

Oct 2022Our party of 24, mostly from the US and some from Asia, had an amazing time at the Villa Trenta. Lorenzo, the host and family member of the property, was a gracious host from the check-in and departure from the Villa. Our group had a memorable time and found this 15th Century Villa with more than enough space. We also had several chef-cooked meals recommended by Lorenzo, which turned out to be fabulous. The freshly made pizza by Miguel was out of this world and allow us to appreciate Miguel's family recipe for making pizza, from preparing the dough to placing it in the wood fire oven on site. I want to take this opportunity to thank Lorenzo, the host, and the staff for a highly enjoyable stay. We shall be back in Tuscany to visit our new in-laws. Thank you again for your hospitality!

The pool and the game room were big hits for everyone. Best of all were dinners outdoors on the huge patio, with meals prepared by a local chef recommended by our gracious host, Lorenzo,.

Sep 2019Normally, places like this can only be found in cordoned off museums leaving you to wonder what life might be like behind the velvet ropes. As it turns out, quite nice actually. Indeed, a magical place awaits with comfortable antique furnishings, hidden treasures, personal touches and just enough modern conveniences to make the stay easy without spoiling the ambiance. It’s larger than you might expect, the size of a small hotel, and no two rooms are alike. We came from different parts of Canada and the U.S., family and friends, ranging in age from 16 to 80, from different walks of life. The pretext was my father’s 80th birthday but the villa wound up serving as the backdrop for my sister’s storybook wedding. Flowers sourced from Ponte a Moriano adorned the white tabletop in the vine-covered terrace for the event. Lorenzo arranged the catering from chef Celine. She comes with our highest recommendation as does the pizziaiolo who catered our wood-fired oven pizza night. The renaissance-era villa has a rich history. Pictures do not adequately capture its grandeur. Reputedly, Puccini once played the piano in the music room, though it may have been the last time it was in tune. The place has a softer feel to it than one might expect from its tiled floors and masonry and it has a surprising way of both embracing and elevating its guests. This might help explain its consistent five-star reviews – as would its gracious, accessible, helpful and friendly hosts.I think I shall always remember playing chess on the antique chess table, with the shutters open to the fresh Tuscan air and Puccini on the stereo – the most idyllic setting for a chess game ever devised. I shall remember how beautiful my sister looked in her white dress tossing fresh flowers with her hubby, like royalty, from the veranda to their guests in the courtyard below, the cool and refreshing waters of the saltwater pool, the extraordinary collection of people staying with us, the taste of freshly picked grapes from the grounds, the ring of the bells of the adjacent bell tower marking the hours, the Tuscan hills in the distance, the laughter in our hearts and the finest of Italian cuisine and wine I have tasted. If you are not one to be moved by such things, then you have something seriously wrong with you and should probably stay at home.Five stars, without hesitation.

Jul 2016My sister and I celebrated our 40th birthday at Villa Trenta with family from all over the world and everyone was blown away by this gorgeous, authentic, stunning place. I actually felt like I was stepping into a Merchant Ivory film. It utterly feels like a 16th century villa because it has been lovingly maintained with original features and beautiful furniture. It is quite simply a gem of a find.
At one point there were were 20 of us and it always felt spacious and if you wanted to find a quiet area there was no problem at all. The pool area is lovely and can be shut off (if you have young kids). The games room got used a lot and one night we had a meal cooked for all of us and we ate in the dining room.
The town of Ponte a Moriano is a five min walk down the hill and there are some very good restaurants which will easily cater for large groups - we had some stand out meals there and in Luuca which is only 20 mins away and a beautiful town.
Finally - Isabelle and Massimo are just such gracious and lovely hosts. They were there to answer all questions, they made us feel so welcome and also let us enjoy the beautiful property for the family at the same time.
If you want a real slice of Tuscany in a villa that is charming, huge, and so inviting I could not recommend this place and Isabelle and Massimo more.
It felt a privilege to stay there.

Oct 2017My mother and my wife's mother both turned 70 this year, so we decided to do a joint family birthday trip with 19 kids and adults to Tuscany to celebrate, and we could not have been more delighted with the property, the location, and the owner. It was truly a trip we will remember with joy for the rest of our lives.
The property is spectacular. It feels like you are staying in a movie set, with massive rooms, frescoed walls, antique furnishings, incredible oil paintings, ornate wooden desks, massive old wine barrels, and inlaid marble floors. Out nearly every window you have a view of the historic church next door with the Italian countryside surrounding it, and the backyard opens into the family's private olive groves (while the front yard offers terraced lawns with a pool and goldfish pond). One of the highlights of our trip was spending a night cooking homemade pizzas and drinking red wine in the 500-year-old (!!) wood-fired stone oven in the older section of the house. It was amazing in every way.
The location was also perfect, as Ponte a Moriano is a 20-minute drive from the amazing walled city of Lucca and less than two hours from Cinque Terre, Siena, Florence, Pisa, Bagni de Lucca, San Gimignano,, and Portofino, all of which members of the family visited while we were there. (Two groups also did overnight trips to Venice and Rome!) The house is also a 10 minute walk from an amazing local restaurant, Erasmus, in Ponte a Moriano, as well as tasty local pizza places, cafes, shops and other conveniences in town. You can also hike or drive up the hill to see other spectacular villas and gardens in the area.
Finally, the owner, Isabelle, and her boyfriend Massimo, were delightful. They live in a small house attached to the property, and they were always available for any and every need, from changing car reservations in Italian to helping book local restaurants, get converters, or master wood cooking in a centuries-old oven.
In short, the only thing we would have changed was leaving, and we hope others have an equally amazing time in our Italian fantasy home.

Aug 2016My extended family and I (17 in all) stayed at Villa Trenta from July 30 to August 6. The owner Isabelle Solari who occupied an apartment at the villa made us feel like family. The villa with its large dining room and numerous parlors provided more than adequate space for us.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the villa’s lovely pool and bucolic setting as well as the village of Ponte di Moriano – a short walk from the villa where one could purchase freshly baked croissants in the morning and enjoy music over drinks in the evening.
Milagros, the resident cook and house keeper who we retained to help with cooking and clean up during the evenings that we ate at the villa, did a terrific job.
The villa for us was a perfect location from which to launch day and evening trips to Lucca, Barga, Florence, Pisa, and Siena.
All in all our joyed filled stay at Villa Trenta will likely be remembered by my family and me as our best ever family vacation.

Aug 2022Lorenzo and his team made this a wonderful experience for our family of 21. Mid July was definitely a hot time of year, but the villa amenities made for a delightful vacation. We all spent much time in the pool, especially the kids. We enjoyed the cooler mornings and casual breakfast to start our day. We then moved on to daily excursions, including beach, Lucca, Florence, and Pisa. Gelato was sampled in every location. We made some amazing meals together, including three dinners prepared in the pizza oven. The nearby grocery was a daily trip and had everything we could want (including very inexpensive wine). Dinners started around the large outdoor table and then retired to the outdoor seating area for hours of continuing fun. The wines from the cellar were a lovely complement. Lorenzo’s hospitality and the beauty of the villa made for a vacation experience we will treasure for years to come.

Jul 2017Look no further if what you are seeking is a truly Authentic Tuscan Villa Experience. Our experience at Villa Trenta was truly one would expect when going to visit family in Italy. We were greeted by the villa owner, Isabelle, who instantly treated us like family. The welcome luncheon set the tone for what would be one of many memorable meals and experiences that we completely enjoyed during our week in Tuscany.
The Villa Trenta description prior to our visit was exactly what we expected upon arrival. The villa is set in a charming town, Ponte A Moriano, centrally located for day trips in Tuscany (ie, Lucca, Siena, Florence, Forte dei Marmi beach and San Gimignano to name a few).
Our family enjoyed the local experience by walking to town for fresh bread, pastry and "the best" gelato each day. We enjoyed the local wines, olive oil from the Villa Trenta grounds and fresh fruits daily that don't often get at home. Our 21 guests of varied ages (2-50's) each enjoyed themselves while utilizing the amenities available at Villa Trenta. We utilized the chef services and dined on the magnificent "al fresco" terrace as well as in the wine "cantina". It was amazing!
This was the cousins' family vacation that allowed those of us with Italian roots to experience what living in Italy truly feels like. This villa is perfect for a large group with plenty of spacious rooms, high ceiling and amenities for all. The pool and the grounds were perfect for all ages, beds extremely comfortable and there was a beautiful breeze in the evenings that kept the house cool even in the middle of the hottest month of the year. Whether this is your first time or not, Villa Trenta will offer you and your guests the authentic Tuscan experience that most of us dream of having (atleast) once in a lifetime. We cannot thank Isabelle and her staff enough for their incredible hospitality!

Aug 2019It's hard to believe, but Villa Trenta is even better in real life than it looks in these gorgeous photos. The owners are lovely and responsive, and although the villa is regal and elegant, it somehow feels as if you are staying with family friends. We had a combination of family and friends with us, aged 1 to 75, and we created some wonderful new memories together that we will cherish across three generations. I would say that a couple of the rooms with twin beds, although nice, are quite a bit less impressive than most of the other bedrooms, so if you are dividing up costs and charging families individually, you may consider charging less for those rooms.

Jul 2019From the first time reading about this property, to the final day of our family vacation here, our appreciation for this fabulous villa and its dedicated owner/manager just kept growing. And we were never disappointed, not even once. My first piece of advice to all potential guests is to read the online reviews for Villa Trenta. They are honestly true in their praise. Our party was a group of 17, family and friends from the U.S. and Europe, spanning 3 generations, with ages ranging from 2 to 69. It was a celebration that reflected a dream many of us shared, which was to spend two weeks in a Tuscan villa that would be grand enough to provide the perfect setting for chef-prepared group dinners, but just as importantly to offer enough inviting nooks and crannies for people to relax with a good book in the privacy of their own company, if desired. The reviews I read captured these aspects of the villa perfectly. Also very accurate were the descriptions of the villa's lovely grounds and gardens, the very well-tended and much appreciated swimming pool, its proximity to the little town of Ponte a Moriano with its handful of good restaurants, bakeries and butcher shops, and finally the reassuring fact that the full time resident property owner/manager Lorenzo, lives just a few steps up the hill from the villa.Lorenzo speaks beautiful English, which proved to be a tremendous advantage for our group. He also knows the villa inside and out, since the property has been in his family for over a century, and was the place of his own family gatherings for many years. Lorenzo also knows his way around Tuscany very well, and can direct his guests to any number of service professionals, from chefs to custom tour operators. I can vouch for the reliability and professionalism of his contacts. The villa itself is perfectly situated for day trips to a great variety of destinations. We enjoyed using the local train for the short trip to and from Lucca. However, in order to really get to know Tuscany, my advice is to rent a car. Villa Trenta has been modernized in the ways that make staying here very comfortable for today's travelers. However, the charm and elegance of this centuries old home have been retained. Beautiful frescoes adorn the walls of the living spaces, and the wood-fired brick pizza oven come to my mind first.
Also very accurate were the descriptions of the villa's lovely grounds and gardens, the very well-tended and much appreciated swimming pool, its proximity to the little town of Ponte a Moriano with its handful of good restaurants, bakeries and butcher shops, and finally the reassuring fact that the full time resident property owner/manager Lorenzo, lives just a few steps up the hill from the villa.
Lorenzo speaks beautiful English, which proved to be a tremendous advantage for our group.
You will enjoy discovering these treasures, and many more, as a privileged guest of this fine property. Ciao!

Aug 2022Do not hesitate to book this amazing property! We travelled as a group of four families from Canada (16 people, including 8 children/teens ranging from ages 8-18 plus 8 adults) and it had more than enough lovely bedrooms and bathrooms plus so much more! The house is so incredibly beautiful and full of character and history and the pool and grounds, including an amazing eating and lounging area, and a lovely small church with bells chiming from the bell tower, were equally beautiful. We spent our days lazing by the lovely pool, cooking amazing meals in the very well equipped kitchen and eating them out in the gorgeous outdoor eating area or grand indoor dining room, reading books and visiting inside and outside the villa in its many comfy spots, and enjoying playing pool, ping pong and bocce. The host, Lorenzo, could not have been more attentive and hospitable, even bringing us candles and lanterns during an unexpected power outage during a large thunderstorm, and arranging for three amazing meals by chefs who came and cooked them for us at the villa (including pizza night, which was amazing). Thank you, thank you Lorenzo for your hospitality and for allowing us to experience your gorgeous villa and property! We cannot recommend it highly enough and can't wait to return!

Jul 2016A stay at Villa Trente is a trip back in time, with modern comforts. The beautiful rooms date back hundreds of years and are filled with the antique family furnishings and collections of many generations. There are so many areas for relaxation; one can enjoy festive gatherings, or some solitude, taking in the history. The quietness renews one's spirit, with birdsong and churchbells the only sounds. A truly memorable experience.!
