Quiet and comfortable accommodation with local charme!
We stayed at Nora's apartment with two children (4 and 8) for five nights during the summer. The place was just what we were looking for - quiet, in a small village in the Croatian national park Ucka, far away from tourism and with pure local flair. By car you can reach the sea in ca. 35 min and there are many more places to visit in Istria. Nora and Al were lovely hosts and Nora gave us some nice tips for day trips. The local shepard is living next door and you can buy excellent sheep's milk cheese from him. Our children loved his dog Bella and Nora's cats, who visited us regularly on the terrace. The accommodation is just right for 4 persons, the kitchen is well equipped and we even found a package of great italian coffee :). Nora offered to wash for us, which was a pleasant extra! We very much enjoyed our stay in Brest pod Uckom and would return anytime!

We definitely will come back
We stayed 3 nights at Casa Nora, Croatia. It was such a terrific stay. The little town is so small that it seems almost unreal….to find such a place of peace in this super hectic world is almost impossible. We stayed in the apartment downstairs and were just happy with the surrounding. The place is brand new furnished; everything is modern in stylish white. At night you don’t hear any noise; it is just peaceful. During the day, we did some nice mountain bike tours with Al (the owner of the house). We drove through beautiful forest, nice little villages, saw hunting dogs…just a different scenery from our home. Because there is no traffic at all, we would also strongly recommend road biking. At night, we went to really great nearby restaurants and were eating truffles menus…just delicious. You even can see the woods were the truffles are harvested from your dining table ;-) We also did a nice little trip to the coast. There is this beautiful little town, called Porec. It has a nice harbor and you think you are sitting in little Nice. Downtown is nice for shopping and little sight seeing. We really recommend booking Casa Nora if you want a relaxed, beautiful vacation. We definitely will come back.

Great relaxing experience in beautiful nature
We spent a great week at Casa Nora in the small village Brest pod Uckom in Istria/Croatia. The environment is surrealistically beautiful at the foot of impressive mountains. The atmosphere of the village and the house was maximum calm and peaceful. At night we enjoyed the sounds of the crickets in the meadows around, at day we had walks around the fields or drove to the sea. Both coasts aren't that far away, between 30 and 60 minutes, according to the road you chose, but the drive through the valley and over the mountains is worthwhile. The flat in the house, rustical from the outside, was highly sophisticated from the inside - the interior was both complete and tasteful. The kitchen contained everything you need for self-catering, there was free and working Wi-Fi and air-conditioning in all rooms. On top of that you have the two hosts living in the upper floor of the house, Nora and Al, friendly and helpful people, enthusiastic about their treasure they have. We even got invited to harvest some tasty vegetables out of the garden. We can recommend this location to everyone looking for some calmness and/or with kids who can explore the area without any concerns.

Beautiful and peaceful
We had a wonderfully restful time at Casa Nora, which is in the middle of a quiet Istrian village in a beautiful national park about an hour's drive from Pula. Nora and Al were great hosts: welcoming, accommodating, and with great recommendations for mountain bike rides, hikes, and places to visit nearby. The cottage is well set-up for self-catering, though we'd recommend food shopping in Pula or Buzet before arrival, as the mini-mart in Lupoglav (the nearest 'town') has the essentials but not much more. The mountain bike trails in the park are well-marked, with a good range of easy and more challenging routes. The scenery from the top is amazing, and the only sound as you cycle is birdsong and the wind through the forest. The coast, with blue, clean sea and lots of great ice-cream, is less than an hour's drive away, and well worth a visit. We ate out a couple of times - once by the coast, and the other in a great pub/restuarant in Roc, about 20 minutes drive from the cottage - amazing pasta and truffles at very reasonable prices. It was a bit of a last-minute decision to come, but I'd definitely come again - there's a lot more mountain-biking to do!

We had a great stay. The apartment is clean and well equipped fro cooking. Located in a renovated stone building in an lonely village on the shoulders of Istrias highest mountain range. Theres a lovely patio where we ate all our meals--but stock up on food when in the big cities as the local supermarket has limited fare. AC available if it gets too hot. Quality mountain bikes for rent. We LOVED the seclusion after the crowds of the beach towns.Nora and Allen were fantastic hosts. We followed their restaurant recommendation one afternoon and had an incredible meal. The best part is the villages seclusion and location in the interior countryside of Istria just a few minutes from the highway network. We popped onto the roads for a quick trip to either the west or east coast beaches, where we spent most of our days lounging and swimming. Loved the ability to choose where to go. On our third day the east coast was fogged in, so we drove west where it was sunny and warm. We went for long hikes after we got back each night. Our kids took the bunk bed room and made friends with the local cats and a few dogs--mostly friendly. Overall, an A --especially if you want to get away from the crowds and see more of Istria than just a resort town!!!!
