Mar 2017We were very pleased when we arrived. The property exceeded our expectations as it was bigger than anticipated and fit into the surroundings perfectly. We were thrilled with the outstanding landscaping surrounding the entire Boca Gentil properties. This landscaping was impeccable as were the buildings and villas within the gates.
The property came with all amenities many more than needed and I was thrilled to find coffee available in the kitchen suitable for the machine provided (I did replace it). The owners and managers were the perfect hosts insuring our satisfaction from the time we left to the time we returned.
The surrounding area was second to none and every bit as beautiful as anywhere I have been in the past. Popagayo Beach the shops and Jan Thiel met and exceeded our hope as well. The beach and facilities were everything anyone could have expected. We were so pleased to find Zanzibar the restaurant at Jan Thiel beach attached to Popagayo beach allowing us to relax and enjoy a drink and very reasonable meal. The location of the Zanzibar restaurant was very handy when coming off the local bus being immediately below the stop. This provided much needed rehydration after a day of exploring the local Town.
We made use of the local bus because there were two stops only minutes from the gate to Boca Gentil. The fare of 1.70 Gilders didn't dissuade us and the ride was actually fun. When I arrived in Willemstad and walked throughout Punda I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The colourful stores and narrow streets made me feel very at home especially when I found the only MacDonald Cafe'. The Iguana Café turned into our favourite rest stop while in Punda. It offered good food and libations while you watched the swing bridge open and close. We both found it a very interesting old fort town with much to offer.
We stayed for a week and by the time we came home we were discussing our next visit to Curacao and the Villa at Boca Gentil. It was perfect!

Apr 2017We spent 7 nights here in April 2017 and it was lovely. Beautiful views from the patio, the grounds of Boca Gentil are very well maintained, the house was spotless and comfortable and very pleasant. The property managers were extremely prompt and helpful as well. It is about a 10 minute walk to the beach, but there are a lot of amenities at the beach area - multiple restaurants and bars, lots of different beach sections for hanging out, volleyball courts, water activity rental shops, etc. There are also lots of people there and it feels a little touristy. We rented a car at the airport and I would definitely recommend it - it allowed us to explore all the beaches we wanted to see on the island and escape from the crowds as much as we wanted. There is also a nice small swimming pool just a few steps from the unit, with lounge chairs and a shaded table set. We spent many afternoons there after sightseeing all morning and it was fantastic. There are lots of birds and little geckos or lizards around the landscaping so there was always interesting birdsong happening and fun activity to watch in the bushes.

Nov 2018We had a great time in Jan Thiel and staying at Boca Gentil. Everything was clean and organized, with environmentally friendly features. like recycling, using filtered ocean water. They also had a mosquito trap built in on the deck. Supermarket is in with walking distance with reasonable prices, and bus stop outside the gated community. Our own pool and lounge chars at the beach. The restaurants was very good, with a very well rounded options, plus take out pizza and sushi places. A marina where you can take boat tours from and bus tours comes right to your property, and a rental car agency. we will defiantly come back and stay at this property, check in and check out was very smooth and we could stay until 1pm on check out since we had a late flight. Beds was very comfy, the kitchen had everything you needed.

Apr 2015This is a beautiful condo on a beautiful island. The pool is literally steps away, and if you prefer sand there are two infinity pools with sandy surrondings just a short walk at Papagayo.

Jun 2019The spacious home is in a quiet part of a gated community. Beach clubs, bars, restaurants and a great supermarket were all in short walking distance. The house has plenty of kitchenware and gadgets along with a grill outside. The air-conditioning was almost never needed as the cross breeze through the house is amazing. We would be excited to stay again. The place was as described but the photos do it no justice! It was everything we hoped for.

Jan 2022The property was more beautiful than depicted in the fotos.. family reunion with 6 of us staying comfortably .. under 10 min walk to the Jan thiel beach with lots of amenities. Pink Beheer property management was extremely attentive when needed. Owner Berge also very responsive and helpful.

Apr 2018The condo was clean, well equipped with wonderful beds and linens. We were met by management who answered all our questions. Our condo was within walking distance of the beach, bars, and restaurants all of which were amazing! We will definitely come back.

Our Boca Gentil Appartment was spacious and well equipped but kitchen and master bathroom badly need more air circulation.
We stayed for a month and know are way around this maze of roads fairly well . We always felt very safe here .

We loved the open air concept, and the breeze blowing through made the AC units unnecessary! We walked to the gym and grocery store every morning and then down to the beach in the afternoons. Jan Thiel Beach was beautiful and not crowded at all which was a concern. The only things that would have made the house absolutely perfect, were more updated bathrooms and a clothes dryer. Although it sounds as if dryers are not available in many homes due to the cost of electricity. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Curacao

Aug 2015Our family of 5 stayed here for a week and it was incredible. The views are breathtaking from the front deck where we enjoyed our morning coffee each day. The pool is literally steps from the deck, with the beautiful beaches only a short walk away. Berge (owner) provided all the information we needed to have a terrific, stress-free stay. The manager was waiting for us when we arrived and gave us a full orientation to the unit and the area. I would definitely return here again!

Jul 2017I recently stayed at Berge & Yohanna's property for a week with 4 of my close friends. The property is as lovely as it looks from the photos! It has a beautiful view and there is easy and quick access to the main pathway and swimming pool.
When we arrived at the airport, 3 of us took a taxi to the property and split the cost of $50 USD. Two other friends who traveled from other areas however signed up for round trip shuttle service beforehand and it saved them from having to take a cab and paying by themselves.
The cab driver graciously let us use his mobile to contact Nynke, the property manager, to inform her we had arrived and to meet us at the property. She arrived just a minute or two after us and was great about walking us through the property, answering questions and explaining further details. The living room sliding doors when opened created a beautiful view and allowed fresh air into the property while we were home. We did not utilize the air conditioning during the day...only at night while we slept. The beds were comfortable, each came equipped with mosquito netting, and both the shower pressure and temperature was good. The pantry had a washing machine, pool accessories and there were beach towels/passes provided for each guest.
We did not rent a car during our stay. At the beginning of the gate entrance (which is approximately a 10 minute walk) there is a market that had everything we needed for the kitchen/property. A few minutes walk past the market was a small variety of restaurants to choose from and the Jan Thiel beach. Also, not far from the gate (few minutes walk) is the bus stop. We took advantage of the bus several times...to take us to Punda/Willemstad and also to the Mambo Beach area. However, if you choose to rent a car while there, just around the corner from the market is a car rental company.
We had a phenomenal trip: the island, area and property were all to our liking! Also, before our trip I contacted Berge several times with numerous questions and he promptly replied and answered each time! We hope to return someday!!

Feb 2015Great location, fabulous views! We drove all over Curaçao and this is the place to stay! Close to shops, restaurants and nice beaches. My two sisters, youngest daughter and best friend accompanied me to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was probably all of our favorite vacation ever. Snorkeling on the southwest side, eating, drinking, shopping and laughing - a girls dream trip!
Mosquitoes were not nice, but the owner has citronella candles on the deck. Need new bed pillows, but all in all, a great place! We'll definitely be back!

The property management rep, was at the villa to welcome and show us around. Of all the properties within this gated community, Casa Vandernak is by far the most breath-taking of all. The unobstructed view of the ocean and the flowers right at the edge of the deck make this place THE NICEST of any of the properties in the area. All amenities necessary for a great vacation are at hand. One note - heed comments from Curacao Tourism about bugs/mosquitoes! They are much smaller than those we have in Ontario; you don't usually see them and don't notice you have been bitten until sometime later. If you are a mosquito magnet, take along a big bottle of Deet repellent and effective "after-bite" cream. All in all, we had a great time.

Oct 2015Dear Berge and Yohanna, many thanks again for letting us experiance Curacao, we were 5 friends flying from different countries, who came and enjoyed Curacao. Boca Gentil in Jan Thiel is best place to be. Supermarket is close by and if you feel like going to restaurant is only few min away. House is also very good equiped and we enjoyed morning coffee on veranda with lovely birds. We enjoyed also the nice sunsets from the veranda and cool down in nearby pool. We would surely be back again!!!

May 2016Berge and Yohanna's vaction home in Jan Thiel Curacao is absolutely perfect. It felt like home but only a lot nicer. There was everything you would need and more. the property managers were fantastic they helped us arrange taxi's and provided us with helpful tips on what to see and where to dine. We would absolutely recomment this property to friends and family.
The Zanzibar restaurant on the beach has delicious pizza like no other and their catch of the day was also yummy. In downtown Williamstad we had lunch at the plain cafe it was also one of our favourites.
Cant wait to go back.

Mar 2015Beautiful place, beautiful location and overall an Amazing stay. Rental staff (manon) and owner, Berge, were all incredibly helpful (eg., we got lost arriving very late at night trying to initially find the place- manon talked us through getting there by phone and we were so grateful for her help with two tired young kids in the back seat!). The place itself is exactly as pictured. Clean, spacious, fully stocked, artfully decorated. Every morning we sat out in front deck and looked at the gorgeous view. Walking distance to resort area with beach access and more pools, bars etc. totally kid friendly and our family thoroughly enjoyed having fun in the unit pool and then taking a stroll to the beach and indulging in infinity and other pools. Grocery store just nearby- so convenient. We are definitely looking forward to another curaçao vacation and in this unit in particular again!
