Very cosy boutique resort. Super helpful, personal and friendly service. Beach lounge and Kite club next door owned by Mvuvi resort.

It was a small boutique resort that staff took immaculately good care of and worked hard to please us and be of assistance at every turn. The beach was gorgeous and dining there was superb! The whole atmosphere made for a perfect wind down after a busy safari journey for our family. Massages were excellent as well. Grace the manager arranged our airport transport and a took care of any other needs we had! What a wonderful woman!

everything was perfect - the decor, cleanliness, friendly staff and the beach view! we personally appreciate the care taken for preparing our food and also ensuring we generate zero waste ( steel straws and glass water bottles)
Everything about the property is awesome!

very cozy and beautiful place with professional and pleasant staff. Room was comfortable. Place was safe and perfect location, right on the beach.

The hotel was absolutely perfect for a couple. It was quiet but had what you needed.
The staff were so incredibly nice and welcoming. The breakfast was nice. Dinner options were limited for over a week stay, but still tasty.
The room was cosy and clean.
Only comment would be about the dinner menu and to have more variety.

Excellent food, Happy faces and big smiles from all the staff with special mention to Grace, Neema and Ayesha thank you for a lovely relaxing stay.
At low tide it is quite silty, you need sand shoes to protect your feet - but a positive is the hotel do provide these! Lots of Masai Mara gentlemen on the beach but are still polite and happy to leave you in peace if you ask.

staff is very welcoming and flexible to try to accommodate our early arrival. good quality food
I like it but consider it is a very small property to relax. they can organize for you different excursions. also the massage was great but the room was near the pool and extremely noisy

Great resort to enjoy Zanzibar! The facility is amazing and the limited number of rooms makes it intimate and authentic. Carolina and Andrej are two great hosts and together with the rest of the staff they have done their best to satisfy our requests, organize different excursions and make our stay perfect. The resort hosts a kite school and that's a great plus if you're into it. Finally the cuisine is very good!

A dream, living in the beach, walking on sand from the room to the sea

Lovely, peaceful well cared for property with a nice beach. That said, when the tide goes it is not good for swimming, which was true everywhere. The hotel will arrange a boat out to the reef for you. The staff was helpful and attentive. The owner always seemed nearby and helped me arrange a massage and a pedicure on site, as well as a tour of Stone Town. There is a restaurant on site which has a nice but limited menu— no worries they own another property next door which has many options. There are these hanging swing beds that are amazingly seductive—I could have stayed all day.
Mist of the rooms were taken up by a Finnish yoga group and sometimes the overtook spaces. it’s a small property so it mattered. we just went elsewhere when that happened.

I was travelling with small kids and found the hotel staff to be very supportive overall. Great service level, staff always looking into ways to improve your experience. Hotel rooms are basic but clean and very well set up. Hotel has few rooms which makes it more private and boutique. Food options are relatively restricted but overall very good quality. I particularly liked their kitesurfing shop next door, staff there is also very supportive and their kite surfing material is of top quality. I also liked very much the private tour organized by the hotel staff for us to visit Mnemba island and Matemwe beaches (they are amazing). Big special thanks to Caroline, Andre and Grace for their support throughout our stay.
The beach is clean, nice white sand, relatively quiet and safe as it has private security which is great for travelling with families, however I did not like that you needed water shoes to go into the ocean (mostly due to risk of sea urchins), I also found beaches of much nicer water colors in the north (ie Matemwe and or Mnemba), not exactly sure how are beaches further south... however I would recommend researching the beaches better in advance next time.
Because of the ocean not being that "child friendly" our kids kept asking to use the swimming pool, which they liked very much, however I would have expected the swimming pool to be much nicer (the hotel swimming pool is small, does not have ocean view, water was cold, and not good access to sea breeze either... so it feels a bit restricted to what I would have expected otherwise).
The wine offering was also very limited, I very well understand this is not the fault of the hotel, distribution of goods and services is restricted overall in the island and the hotel do an amazing job to put up service levels with such scarcity, however I would have expected this to be better.

Calm and relaxed in a private setting. Excellent service. They really catered to all our needs. The food was great. Grace the manager was fantastic.
Pool is small but this wasn't a concern for us.

The rooms are not very nice and outdated

Great location, extremely friendly staff. Wonderful place to relax. Basically on the beach! Safe and secure.
The food at Mvuvi is not great. Do yourself a favour and head to their sister restaurant, The Beach Lounge, just down the beach, the food is infinitely better and owned by the same owner. There’s also a lack in basic amenities in the room, such as a kettle, glasses for any drinking water, a fridge or adequate bedding (lumpy pillows and a sheet is all you’ll get).
6.0
Friendly staff, secluded location and room
Damp smell in room
Lack of vegetarian options
Unable to pay until the end
No hotel entertainment in the evenings

Rarely have we stayed in a hotel that places so much value on service.
The staff was always friendly, courteous and very child-friendly, from check-in to checkout.
The hotel has direct access to its own private beach, some of the most tranquil stretch of beach in Kiwengwa.
Other restaurants and small supermarkets are nearby, but a little further away on foot.
However, since the hotel itself has an excellent restaurant, this is not a problem.
The food was really exceptionally good and we didn't eat badly a single day despite our seven-day stay.

First of all, the staff (Meshak, Grace, Victoria, Farida, Stella, Stella, Elisabeth, Erith, Afi, and many more I didn't get the names from) was incredible. Carolina who is running the place was amazing prior to coming with baby crib and communication overall. Everyone was so nice and helped a lot with our one year-old rascal who didn't want to be still during meals by playing with him. They were also always smiling and ready to be of assistance.
The resort and facilities is one of the most beautiful i've ever seen. Every detail is well thought out and all is pleasing to the eyes. I loved sitting at breakfast looking out at the beach and the sea. The room was really nice as well and got cleaned everyday. It was also big and had a lot of storage space for bags and a big wardrobe.
The pool is beautiful and felt quite private because it was in a secluded part of the resort. There was also a lot of sunbeds by the beach and it was never crowded. Maybe because there weren't many guests at the time but still it would have been airy even if there were more people.
The surrounding area is calm and there are a few restaurants up on the main road and on the beach.
I have definitely more good things to say than bad and overall most things are truly great! Mainly if you don't have to run after a child all the time which sadly put a small stamp for us on the whole stay.
Okay so most things are really great but I will try and find stuff to improve.
The food was a bit uneven in quality. Some days it was really tasty but some days less tasty. Sometimes the dishes were bigger and sometimes smaller. Also, the vegetarian dishes were not really worth the money if you compared it to the meat or fish. For example: An avocado salad (although tasty) should not be a main dish when compared to a fish curry or seared beef. Overall the vegetarian food could be better and could have more options.
The communication could also be better between waiters and kitchen. Often dishes were finished but you always found out quite late and at one time a part of a dish was missing because the ingredient was finished and made the dish incomplete and not very tasty. If I had known I would have chosen another dish. Maybe have a staff meeting before meals to see what meals are finished so the guests knows what's available from start.
There was also, what I thought to be, an overflow of staff. Probably because of low season but there was always a lot of staff for only us alone and sometimes you had like three waiters during one meal and often it felt like many waiters was standing around waiting for finished plates. Of course I understand that there wasn't much to do at this time but less people in one place would have been more relaxing.
If you wanna swim in the sea you have to watch the tide because the sea is often far out. "The beach boys" are a freaking menace and made us wanna avoid the beach altogether. This is not Mvuvi BR's fault but it's this beach you use. It's probably the same on all beaches though but for us a private beach would unfortunately have been preferred.

the place is very nicely decorated with a very nice beach. the staff is very nice.
the food is sometimes very nice and sometimes a bit blend. the place is expensive. communication is quick but could be improved especially when involving another service.

beautiful and charming garden and beach facilities, including restaurant terraces and views. clean. comfortable beds. staff very nice. white sand beach.
pricing of all extras: activities (including massages), low quality wines over priced (compared with several similar charming boutique hotels and even the luxury hotel of Stone Town’s beachfront i won’t mention here…)

The hotel has a great relaxing vibe, right on a pieceful beach, with a nice swimming pool. It has only a few rooms, you can have always find a place just for yourself. The owners are very friendly and help you with organizing tours and activities, and the staff is kind and polite. The food is delicious .. The best one we had on our trip. Definitely recommend.

This small scale boutique hotel is definitely one of the best places I stayed in years. I spent 8 nights here. It's probably not the cheapest option around, but it was really good value for money. All staff were very friendly, professional and always willing to help out or give advice. The hotel to me felt like coming home. It's a place where you can wind down. No loud music or pool animation, no fuss, just relaxing in a beautiful environment. A perfect place to stay when you’re traveling alone or as a couple.
And then the food.. OMG. By far the best food I tasted on the island. Some of the starters and mains were really high level, both in taste and presentation. Again, not the cheapest option around but good value for what you pay. If you’re not staying at this hotel then at least go there for lunch or dinner and try some of the Michelin star worhty starters!
The hotel has a small but cosy pool under the trees / in the shade which you will probably have all to yourself, as not many guests use it.
Would I go there again? Definitely!

The warm welcome from the management and the staff, the peaceful environment, the quality of the facilities, the continuous care for our well being and the availability of equipment. Carolina, the owner, and Grace are very pleasant hosts.
The length of service at the restaurant could be improved. It was quite long overall, from breakfast to dinner. The chef could also put less ginger in many dishes and juices.

Very calm atmosphere. I felt like at home, very helpful staff, it felt very secure and relaxing.
The manager was very helpful and all the staff accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and would go back myself. This is exactly the kind of hotel that I expected in Zanzibar.
The only thing I would suggest is maybe to serve more fruit for breakfast instead of so many pastries. Also, the food in the restaurant seemed sometimes not to be consistent quality/ size wise. I ordered the same dish a couple of times and each time it was different, for example prawn starter for $11 one day consisted of 3 prawns, another day only 2. The price for such a starter was too high.

Very nice stay in this traditional and authentic designed resort ! Very nice view on the beach, private beach, private restaurant and massages can be done directly at the hotel.
The owners are discrete, accessible and easygoing. They did a surprise for my girlfriend's birthday and even offered her the cake.
Our room was quiet, clean.
We would like to come back again !

Mvuvi is an absolute insider tip on Zanzibar! The small number of rooms promises maximum privacy. We enjoyed the variety of options in the hotel: the pool, the restaurant in the main house with fantastic views, the restaurant on the beach, the bar with delicious classics & own creations, gorgeous garden and neat decor. Kiwenga Beach is one of the best beaches on Zanzibar.
We really enjoyed our stay with our family! Breakfast is very extensive, the choice is great. Lunch and dinner were excellent, there is a variety of local and international dishes depending on your preference. The staff and owners were very friendly, we felt like part of the Mvuvi family.
It is definitely worth a conversation, we received a lot of tips and information. Besides excursions on the island or a safari, the team of Mvuvi can also offer or organize a variety of local activities. For example, an excursion by sailboat to the reef is definitely recommended. Sporty and interested must definitely try snorkling, scuba diving and kitesurfing, it was a lot of fun (there is so much to see)!
Thank you for welcoming us so kindly in your paradise, we will be very happy to come back!
Our stay was too short :)

From the arrival up to our departure everything was absolutely wonderful! (and we can be quite critical when it comes to hospitality:)) We were given an upgrade to a room on the 2nd floor with a big balcony and views of the flora and fauna for our 5 night stay. The room was very comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathrom had some lovely myrtle&lime scented toiletries of high quality. The grounds with private beach are beautiful, a lovely oasis-like small pool which was perfect to relax in, food and drinks were great, staff was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed two trips on the island from the excursion booklet which is in the room to read and choose from. On our last night they surprised us with a private romantic candlelight dinner set up for us on the beach. So nice! We highly reccommend Mvuvi for your stay in Zanzibar. It truly is a gem of a place.
Perhaps a minor tip for the chefs: it would be nice to change the lovely bite (hummous, bread, local tomatoe) before dinner with a different option on different days. Just to mix it up a bit.
Tip regarding excursions: if you book the turtle aquarium excursion make sure beforehand to discuss with the host and driver/guide which of the turtle place you want to visit. We didn’t know there was more than one and in the end we went to another one than we had googled and anticipated beforehand. Although the place we went was still quite nice, it was small, very off the beaten track and not located in Nungwi (which the booklet suggests) but near Fukuchani. We’re still not sure which of the turtle sanctuaries is considered ‘the best’ one to go.

Nothing to say here. It was just outstanding good

Beautiful location, decorated with style, you can see the attention to detail in every corner of the hotel. You feel the African vibe yet at the same time you do not miss out on any of the comforts that you need. Food is absolutely delicious and the ocean views from the restaurants are amazing. I was here already 4 times and cannot wait to come back again

Every staff member is very attentive, highly professional and always smiling. The food is fresh and delicious. The resort is small which only makes it feel cozier and more exclusive. I appreciate various accessories (beach bags, key chains, do-not-disturb-tags) and I believe even furniture are obviously locally made. The entire hotel uses mostly natural materials, no ugly plastic sun beds or parasols spoil the beautiful vibe – even the trash can is made out of palm leaves. As well as the rooms, the beach is always kept clean. The sea is warm and full of life – best found during low tide. We got to see octopi, various crabs, starfishes and even a lovely blowfish several times when just casually swimming in the sea or strolling during low tide. You get to see even more life on a simple boat trip to adjacent Kiwengwa reef. A pair of Clark’s clownfish in a Haddon’s anemone were a highlight.
Besides that, Mvuvi offers other trips like Stone Town, Prison Island, Mnemba Atoll, Jozani Forest or Safari Blue.
Extra points for immediately repairing a loose toilet seat in our room without us even mentioning it to anyone.
The entire stay was simply fantastic! Highly recommended.
It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a small, mini-bar like fridge in the room as we bought bottled water every day and had nowhere to put it to keep it cold. Though that is just a minor detail as we finished the water pretty quickly anyway.

Room n bathroom were clean. Airconditioning was functioning well. Breakfast was satisfactory
Reception was very poor. Had to wait 15mins till someone sauntered to meet us at the gate. Room lacked basics like drinking glasses, tissue box, small fridge, shower cap etc. Single beds were very small for adults in my opinion. Could not charge phones because the sockets were 2 round pins while all Zanzibar uses 3pin sockets
