The food is outstanding. Made with love and so delicious. They even had cheese platter and champagne to ease my cravings after three weeks in Indonesia

It was December and extremely hot and humid there are fans but no air con in the rooms

It feels like a hideaway resort, such a beautiful little place. We felt like we were in paradise. Alain, Ita and the staff were so wonderful and welcoming, we felt like we were staying with family. Access to the property takes about 1hr 30 from Lombok airport and Alain arranged transport for us. It’s pretty easy to access from the main island. The hotel has lots of lovely seating areas with bean bags and tables, and the pool area feels really tranquil amongst all the plants and trees. The food was absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced. I tried to make my way through each item on the Indonesian menu and was never disappointed. The Ayam ketchup is particularly wonderful, as is the Tempura shrimp. The Rendang is the best I’ve tasted! There was also a constant supply of large, ice cold Bintang. The rooms were gorgeous and comfortable, with mosquito nets and fans. The hotel also offers snorkelling day trips around the surrounding islands which was fantastic again. There are also kayaks available for use which we tried. We were sad to leave - can’t thank Alain and Ita enough for such a wonderful break.

A wonderful, relaxed vibe on a fabulous tropical island. The restaurant was great and Alain and his whole team couldn’t have made us feel more welcome.

It was all great! If you want luxury then this isn’t for you, but if you want a chilled vibe far from the madding crowd, and a little island to explore, not to mention great snorkelling, then this is it.

Die kleine Anlage am Hügel ist eigenwillig, hübsch und gut gepflegt (keine Klimaanlage). Die Gastgeber, Alain und Ita, kümmern sich rührend um ihre Gäste, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Es werden individuelle Bootstouren zu blauen Korallenriffen zu fairen Preisen angeboten, im Pool rumhängen, das Essen ist sehr gut und man kann abends sehr schön auf's Meer schauen, ein Glas Rotwein trinken. Auf keinen Fall wird man Teil von overtourism. Für die Überfahrt mit dem kleinen Gili-Gede-Fastboat braucht man gute Nerven ;-).

Such a magical place. The staff are all so friendly and full of giggles. Alain and Ata have created something really unique. There’s a lot of passion and love that’s been put into the design and atmosphere of Tanjungan Bukit Lodge, It’s like a tiny village. It’s even got a giant family of chickens living there :) Go here for really good food and cocktails, day trips to near by reefs and islands and for some slow time. We stayed 3 nights and loved it. Thanks for the experience Alain.

Great vibe, quirky and comfortable rooms. Alain and Ita have created a charming and beautiful space. Scrumptious food with an extensive menuThe rendang was exceptional. Cuisine is French and Indonesian. Alain also makes the best cocktails. Each night enjoyed a cocktail overlooking the water. Alain and Ita were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed talking to Alain about his travels and to see his photos. Charming and wonderful hosts.

There is nothing that we did not like. The pool could have been a little cleaner.

Paradise. View was amazing, room was large and spacious and open. Fish rendang was so yummy, breakfast was huge. Alain and Rita have done an incredible job putting the place together. Will definitely go back.

Didn't stay long enough

The outlook from the room was nice. The owner was very helpful and nice.

This place was not for us. We found it too isolated, run down and the room was very dirty. We also did not sleep well due to very load mosques and cockerels. Also, after visiting Lombok numerous times and loving many of the other Gilis in the south and north we did not get a good feeling from Gili Gede. Therefore, we only stayed 1 out of the 3 nights booked and found somewhere we were happy on the coast on the mainland.
