The fields around the house were nice and the owners took our kids to pick some of the veggies and fruits themselves. They also loved playing with the cats, 2 adults and 4 baby cats.

We simply liked everything. I contacted the owner through WeChat before and he helped organizing transportation from the airport to the hotel and was really kind in answering all kind of questions. When we arrived he arranged a group chat with his staff which was great for communication. The redone farmhouse is a beautiful estate at the foot of the mountains. It is 3.5 km away from the South East gate of the park which is a rather quiet entrance gate. They drove us to the gate every morning and picked us up when we wanted to come back from the park. The view of the estate is breathtaking, it is quiet, the kids could run around freely and we had lovely home cooked dinners on the terrace. The rooms are spacious, the beds are really comfortable and everyone was really helpful and friendly. Breakfast is Chinese style. They provided fruits every morning and made the room every day! While we were there they started also building a new swimming pool which should be ready to use by July :)

Wonderful location set in the mountains just outside the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It really felt like a mountain getaway. The location was very convenient to access the southeast gate of the park each day and they provided free transportation to and from the gate. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and the hotel provided free toiletries, snacks and drinks in the room every day. The food was local and delicious and we were able to enjoy the fantastic views and nature while dining outside when the weather cooperated. Beyond the location and facilities, what makes this place special are the people working there. They were very friendly, helpful and truly made us feel like we were old friends coming to stay with them right from the start. If you want an authentic and local experience to go along with your trip to Zhangjiajie we cannot recommend this place enough!

Location was idyllic, surrounded by rural nature, we ate outside, we were well taken care of (asked what we’d like to eat for dinner etc). We used the hotel transport for airport transfers and to go to Tianmenshan.

Hot water wasn’t stable in the bath.

They were super proactive in contacting us about how to get there from the airport and how they could take us and collect us from the park (for free) each day. The hotel has real old-style character but is new and comfortable. The food was Chinese, not western, which we really enjoyed. They cooked vegetarian for us - just tell them what you want. Local eggs and vegetables. Breakfast free and huge dinner very cheap. Really helpful staff.

Nothing not to like. We enjoyed sharing a long, large dining table with other guests, and trying out the Chinese dinner and breakfast. But maybe other foreign tourists would prefer privacy and western food when they eat?
