Nov 2022While remote, we loved the peaceful qualities of their avacado farm. Fun goats and the friendliest dogs! Clean and well supplied for a great stay

Feb 2020We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this lovely hillside farm. Katy and Mike are great, as are the 3 well-behaved and friendly dogs. Best avocados we’ve ever had! The cottage was super clean, comfortable and very well-equipped. We would definitely come again.

Sep 2021We stayed on the Big Island for two weeks and ended our stay on this amazing avocado farm. Mike and Katy were wonderful hosts. Upon arrival we had fruit to enjoy, baked goods to have with morning Kona coffee. The goats, sheep, and dogs were a delight and we enjoyed playing and feeding them. The property is lush and nice for anyone who wants to get away from the busy coast area. The drive was not an issue for us. The evenings and early mornings were nice and cool. Right before we left, Mike shared wonderful stories and made his special Mai Tai! We do plan on going back and staying at this property.

Aug 2019We stayed a short three nights but truly enjoyed it: hosts are charming and friendly. The animals are great and our kids played non stop with the dogs ( no safety worries). The place was extremely clean, comfortable and well furnished. We were greeted with delicious goodies and coffee.
Really recommend.

Jan 2020We loved our stay! Our only regret was not staying their longer. Katy and Mike are amazing people, and they went out of their way to help us enjoy our time. The property it’s self is beautiful. The house was clean and obviously well kept.
I would recommend this spot to anyone!

Jun 2019We just returned from our stay at this wonderful place, and we miss it already. It was our third visit to the Big Island, and this was definitely our favorite, thanks to Mike and Katy and all of the animals, especially endearing Kit. We had stayed in large condo complexes before and wanted to try something different this time. It is a long drive to our favorite beaches, but worth coming “home” to such a beautiful, peaceful place in the evening. Mike and Katy (& Kit) have the gift of hospitality, and we had everything we needed, including a beach mat, ice chest, and beach umbrella. The Ohana was clean and well-stocked. Sunsets were beautiful. My typically grumpy teenaged son had the BEST time, laughing and smiling every time he spent time with the animals. He has been apathetic about everything lately, but said, “We HAVE to come back here!” I cannot say enough nice things about our experience, and would highly recommend it, especially if you want a respite from the crowds.

Dec 2021We had a wonderful time with our 3 children at Katy and Mike's wonderful avocado farm. They are wonderful hosts and people and showed our kids an amazing time walking through the avocado farm, hanging out with goats and sheep and exploring the surrounding area in Kona. Thank you so much for a wonderful time away!

Jan 2022We had an amazing stay and experience at Katy's place. We chose this place as we wanted our 18month old to experience the dogs and the animals on the property. Away from all the city hustle, this place is the perfect spot to spend your vacation. They have a lot of avacado trees on the property, which was an absolute treat. Katy and Mike were really nice people and we would love to come back and stay again. One thing I would like to mention is if you are staying with small children particularly, the place gets really cold at night and in the mornings, so I would pack some warm clothes to sleep in.

Aug 2021We had a fantastic stay! The sunset views from the hillside are amazing. Lots of fun distractions on the farm - friendly dogs, curious sheep and goats, and a variety of trees to enjoy fresh picked seasonal fruits. The host (we only met Katy) is so nice and super accommodating. Bring good boots to walk around the farm to enjoy all of the beauty. The unit is very spacious and the well stocked for an extended stay away from the oceanfront crowds.

Jan 2022We absolutely loved staying at Mike and Katy’s rental. Everything was clean, and they even had fresh fruit on the table when we got there. This rental was quiet and secluded, and that is exactly what we were looking for. Mike was very helpful with any questions or recommendations about the island that we had. We stayed there for 5 days, and I only wish we could have stayed longer to spend more time at the rental. It was so relaxing and felt like coming home every night.

Jun 2022This was such a great place to go to and relax. We had nothing planned and just sat on the farm most of the time and ate fresh Guac and fruit from the farm offerings. Katy and Mike are amazing people to stay with and be around.
Our kids enjoyed the goats, sheep and their friendly dogs.
We left with new friends and a definite place to return to!

Jan 2021This property is a rare diamond in the VRBO landscape. The house itself is newer and VERY clean. You have everything you need to enjoy making simple meals including a lovely lanai with killer views on which to enjoy them. Games, books, toys, beach toys, towels, blankets...it’s ALL here. The beds are very comfortable and the water pressure is great. Buy groceries in town...especially ingredients for guacamole because there are lots and lots of amazing avocados!! Would highly recommend scheduling your fishing trip through Mike. He knows these waters and you won’t feel like an impersonal “number” on a ledger sheet. The animals on the farm are SUCH a joy! Our daughter absolutely loved playing with the dogs and goats. Kate is a consummate professional who cares deeply about her guests. We seldom return to properties we’ve been to before because we really like exploring new places; however, we wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else if we come back to the Big Island. Mahalo to the Davis family and warmest wishes for a wonderful 2021.

Aug 2021This property is a bit off the beaten path which was absolutely perfect for us. If you are looking for a location that is centrally located between Kona and Hawaii Volcano National Park this is the best spot. If you want a spot that is beyond peaceful, with great views, amazing star gazing, animals to love you all day and a great Host this is also that place for you. The house is really quite large and was more than enough space for us, plus exceptional outdoor space as well. Katy was great she was so welcoming and left special treats for us when we arrived. She gave some great advice of things to do and gave us our privacy at the same time. We loved every second of our stay and would recommend anyone to stay here.

Sep 2022This place was amazing! Katy and Mike were really great hosts. They gave us some great recommendations and great conversations, it made us feel right at home. The fresh fruit and bread was so yummy! Their property is really a great location for the attractions that are near by, Volcano NP, green and black sand beaches and you are about 1-2 hours from everything else. My husband and I didn’t mind the drive and enjoyed the quiet this place gave us. The dogs were so much fun as well as feeding the goats. If we ever come back, and we hope to, we would definitely look to stay here. We really enjoyed Mike and Katy, it was like talking to family, and that is something you don’t get everywhere. Only wish we weren’t so busy and had more nights enjoying the sunsets and the conversations! Mahalo you guys! Until we meet again!

Dec 2021This place is so beautiful. We had a small house all to ourselves with lots of beach toys to borrow. The grounds are so nice to walk, tons of avocado trees. You can visit the goats and play with the border collies! The hosts Mike and Katy are very friendly and welcoming and they helped us thru a power outage. They also gave us tons of fresh avocados and fruit to try! We loved staying here. It is about 20 minutes south of Captain Cook by drive which was perfect.

Nov 2020This place is perfect for families! The hosts are very nice and so generous. Avocados were not in season during our stay, but there were many other things on the farm to enjoy. Cherimoya is delicious! They also shared many things that came from neighbor farms and even gave us a piece of fish that they caught. Since the property is fully gated, our kids could go explore the farm while we relaxed a bit. They have also just added a lanai that is not shown in the pictures. It's just a short drive to Two-Step, my favorite snorkeling spot!
While this place is perfect for families, I'm not sure that I would recommend it for honeymooners because the rental is located right next to the hosts house, so it's not quite secluded. The owners were not intrusive in any way, but it is a working farm and you will see them going about their business.
We will 100% stay here again! I can't wait to return!

Dec 2019This is an attractive rural property located uphill from the highway close to the Miloli village turnoff. High enough to be cool at night, warm in day.
The hosts (and their pets) are very friendly, down-to-earth and generous (we arrived to a big basket of fruit and banana bread, and left 4 days later with enough avocados and fruit for several following days). Good supply of beach supplies in the carport.
The rental unit is very spacious and comfortable. Also well-separated from the main house, so little cross-over of household and vehicle noise. Most mornings, we enjoyed a flower and bird walk in the orchard. Usually met at our door and accompanied by at least one border collie.
About 20 min drive north to Place of Refuge park/Two Step snorkeling beach; about the same south to the turnoff to South Point. A bit further in time to Captain Cook grocery stores and farmers markets, so stock up ahead of arrival with most non-fruit food (although there are roadside fish vendors near the turnoff).
In closing, we

Jun 2022This home had everything you could possibly need for a Hawaiian vacation. The hosts were a pleasure and generous with all the goodies stocked in the home for our arrival. Having snorkel gear, sunscreen, beach towels, cooler etc…made the trip so easy. This would be an ideal spot for families and just about anyone. We loved all the animals and the grounds are gorgeous. A perfect retreat that we would definitely stay at again in the future. Thank you so much for a perfect stay❤️

Mar 2020This facility was a great value and we could not be happier with our accommodations and the hospitality provided by Katy & Mike. The house was well supplied with everything we needed and much more, so we were very comfortable there and would gladly stay there again if we are able to get back to the area. Katy and Mike made us feel welcome right from the start with home-grown fruit and fresh brownies on the kitchen table when we arrived. We enjoyed a tour of the working avocado farm and got to try many different homegrown fruits. Not only did we have all the homegrown fruit we wanted during our five day stay, Mike made sure we took extra with us when we left for our next location. We always had lots of company from the family pets and we truly felt at home here. It was so quiet and peaceful here and just far enough off the busy highway that we would absolutely recommend this location for anyone who wants a peaceful, quiet, and comfortable place to spend some time on the Big Island.

Oct 2019The setting was perfect for a little R&R while being convenient to the whole south and west coast. Katy was easily available if needed to ask directions or where some local scenic spots might be. House was easy to use and enjoy - came with all necessities plus games and water activity equipment to borrow. The dogs were gentle and friendly. We’d definitely choose to stay here again. We’d recommend getting the Kona coffee offered by the neighbors too.
