The kids club and the staff there, animators, well-maintained landscaping, pools, and free shuttle to the city center.

Having stayed at the Barcelo resorts in the past, we had certain built-in expectations - unfortunately, these did not materialize. On the first day of our stay, we went to the Sushi restaurant. After waiting for almost one hour, we were told that there was an issue with a Chef and that no food would be served. Two days later, we re-attempted to eat at the same restaurant. Unfortunately, we spotted some rather "unusual" practices - food being sent back to the kitchen by one table being given to us, bread basket taken from our table and given to another table. However, what was the most aggravating point of our stay was the safety/security issue. While throughout our stay, we systematically used the safe provided in our room, on the afternoon of the last day, we forgot to place one of the wallets in it. The next day early morning (at the airport - about to board), we realized 200EUR was missing. Subsequently, we tried to reach out to the property over the phone, emails, and Booking.com messaging - no replies. In addition, four days after checking out and making full payment, we are still waiting for the deposit to be released. Based on the above, we cannot recommend Barcelo Palmeraie to anyone.

1. the family rooms are not big enough for even a family of 4. there is decent sized bed and then just a L shaped sofas which do not pull out to make a bed. 2. poor welcoming upon arrival and information given apart from breakfast times. no idea about restaurants, kids club times etc 3. breakfast and dinner buffets are a nightmare: always waiting for cutlery to be set up etc. 4. no labelling of buffet food 5. walk back to the hotel room can be quite long from pool etc. no buggy’s readily available for families with kids to be transported back to hotel rooms

Facilities were good, staff very friendly and always willing to help. Hotel had a shuttle bus to City centre which is excellent.Food overall was very good.

Would like seen better maintenance of the rooms- ie a few tiles missing from balcony floor, mirror light just handing on wall also shower fan missing cover plate( I do not think it’s up to the customer to advise) cleaning staff or regular inspections. But that’s me being very picky!!!

The property itself is good

We had terrible experience in the hotel. We booked one night, and the price was honestly very attractive saying “only 4 rooms left”, so we thought its probably some offer, etc. We booked, came to the hotel, checked in, payed exactly the amount in our reservation and honestly had a good time. Once want to check out the next day we were stoped by assistant manager saying that it was a mistake in a hotel system and we had to pay an extra amount which is around 5 times more than what we already payed. The person was very rude, shouting and threatening us. And said that he will not let us leave the hotel untill we pay, and if we leave, he has our card details and cut the money he wants. He also said “if you dont have money than you shouldnt come to a 5 star hotel”. We called booking.com and the customer service was very polite and helpful assuring us that we are free to leave and they will contact the property.
