I had a very pleasant stay. The location was just perfect, close to the main areas. The hotel is very nice and clean. My room was clean, quiet and very comfortable with a nice bathroom. The staff is super kind and friendly and they can help you organizing day trips or trekking adventures.

Positive:
- Cosy inner garden, an oasis in the area, like someone said. Nice feeling to relax there.
- Nice hotel staff, very keen to help, with good english.
- Good stable wifi network.
- Good breakfast: very basic, but well done, just all I needed (I had to catch an early flight, and the receptionist was kind enough to open earlier, to prepare my breakfast). Good coffee too :-).
- One may say the place is good value for money, so to speak (or, it would have been if ... - read below.) Basic amenities but decent, and safe.
- Clean too, I may say.
I was definitely given a lower category room than I had booked. I am NOT at all happy about this :-( . I had booked a Deluxe double room (at a certain price) that came with some view and a terrace (according to the description on booking) and I was given a small room that felt run down, somehow like a student dorm. I guess I was given what appears as the Economy option on the site (that comes at 2/3 of what I had paid). Limited gloomy side view to the adjacent building's windows (on the side of the main building). NO windows, no balcony whatsoever. What was worse, was that there was some sort of smell in the room, like some floor polish chemical product, vernis, or perhaps disinfectant, now I think of it. My allergic asthma hit the ceiling in the middle of the night and I had to open the windows to breathe... No sleep to be had.

The hospitality of the owner and the whole team was formidable! They are extremely friendly and helpful with any organisational issues like booking cabs or recommending great local restaurants.
The hotel is very peaceful and has a relaxing atmosphere in an otherwise very busy and loud city. Especially the garden is a nice place to relax, have a nice cup of tea and some delicious vegetable momos.
It‘s also a great way to support a local family business.

We stayed at the hotel Ganesh Himal in March, before our trekking to Everest Base Camp.
We had a warm welcome and the staff was very nice and helpful!
The room was nice and clean with a hot shower all the time.
The hotel is located just outside Thamel with a great little garden, where one can relax from the busy streets of Kathmandu.

It’s far enough away from the craziness of Thamel to be able to relax and still close enough to walk to Thamel in under 2 minutes.
There is a lovely big garden with a good restaurant.
Nothing to dislike

Top place to stay in Kathmandu. Perfect location, close to thamel and old city. Also even though it’s situated in the center, the place is very quiet! Nice garden to escape from the agitation of Kathmandu. The personnel was a plus, all very kind and helpful!
8.0
The central location close to historical Durbar Square and the bustling old quarter of Kathmandu. There's a pretty, secluded garden where the restaurant is located, where you can eat meals, and each floor has a large communal and attractively furnished balcony overlooking the residential neighbourhood and the distant mountains where you can sit and relax, write, meditate etc. The rooms are slightly old fashioned, but comfortable with large attractive timber framed beds.
Nothing really, unless the huge, bizarre and intimidating statue of a yeti (aka Abominable Snowman) in the garden!
