Jun 2019We LOVED our stay at the cabin on Spruce Mountain lake. It was the most relaxing vacation we’ve ever taken. Peaceful, quiet, and challenging (in a satisfying way). We had 4.5 days filled with adventure, discovery and wonder. The trails around the cabin will draw you out and the cabin draws you in.. this place was amazing. Looking forward to the next time and hope to stay longer. Christian had us set up for success, was so helpful and informative. The whole experience exceeded our expectations and we’d definitely recommend! *The bug nets we picked up at the Airline Lodge were necessary for the time of year..SO glad we had them!

Aug 2022We had a great time at the cabin along with our two dogs. We spent most of the days floating on tubes in the lake and swimming with the dogs. The cabin is cute and had everything you need for a long or short stay. This is the perfect place if you are like me and have dogs that don’t do well with other humans or dogs. There are no neighbors nearby. If you are staying in the summer I’d recommend bringing battery powered fans since the cabin can get warm on nice days. Christian was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed.

Jul 2022We could not have asked for a better long weekend. This place is a rare find. We never saw another person near the cabin or on the lake. If your looking to truly enjoy nature this is an excellent pick.

Oct 2017We absolutely loved our stay and the only thing that would have made it better is if it had been for longer. If you are looking for a great place to unplug and unwind this is the place. Christian was great about communicating before hand and very easy to schedule things with - even when we missed the meeting place and he head to wait a few extra minutes.
We loved reading on the porch, playing chess and some of the other board games there, canoeing, and making our own trails around the lake. We loved seeing and hearing the loons and owls too.
This is a cozy, comfortable and awesome little place that we cannot wait to come back to visit again.
Thank you Christian for sharing!

Aug 2021Two delightful skylights brought lots of light to the cabin even on a rainy day. Whether exploring the lake in the canoe, swimming, hiking or simply sitting in the rocker on the front deck delighting in the surrounding beauty our stay was magical start to finish. We can’t wait to go back for a third week next year. Thank you Christian!

Dec 2019Trip was amazing beautiful location Great to get away and enjoy the beauty of the Maine wilderness. Christian was a great host and cabin was quite comfortable and fully equipped. Wood stove kept us warm at night and the sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. Would definitely go back.

Jul 2020This was our second time at this cabin, loved it even more than last year! We came a month later, (left 7/3) and stayed a day longer (6 days). The lake water was refreshing. The cabin is Rustic but kept and cozy. The pantry situation has a little bit of everything. Thanks, to whoever left the orange bitters! Found a Dutch oven and winged some country ribs. Sautéed onion garlic and a few leftover strawberries deglaze the pan with orange bitters and braised the ribs in beer, served over a bag of rice. Rainey night, with a fire?? How will You survive? On the covered porch? Probably...We’llbe back!

Oct 2019This was by far one of the coolest wilderness adventure experiences I have ever had the chance to stumble upon. Let's start with, my wife and I were over 4 hours late (Boston traffic) to meet Christian at the meet-up point to let us in, he was super accommodating, and didn't seem to care even though we significantly cut into his Friday night. The cabin itself is this amazing 1 1/2 room log cabin with years of character from previous guests. We left UNO playing cards, and some candles for the next folks. Amazing views, amazing smells, this is the definition of rustic vacationing. Thanks again Christin for your lovely cabin for the weekend, we will 200% be back!

Nov 2017This rustic lakeside cabin is a delight! The lake is beautiful; great to canoe or just enjoy the view from the front porch. The little hike from the car to the cabin was neat; the cabin is nestled in a lovely pine-tree forest. It was so quiet and so relaxing. My favorite part was the early morning and the white mist on the lake. Took lots of photos!
Christian, the Host, is very helpful! He is responsive, flexible and as a native of Maine, he was knowledgeable of the history of the cabin and area.
It was a great stay and I hope to return!

Jun 2021This is the ideal place if you're looking to get away from the day to day. The cabin is everything you'd want in a "off-the-grid" camp. The lake is beautiful and the quiet surroundings are very peaceful. The owner is extremely helpful and welcoming. Would recommend staying here.

Sep 2022This cabin and property is a picture perfect experience of old time rusticity, seclusion, and natural wonder.
The cabin is unpretentious and rich with historic authenticity. It is perfectly situated on the lovely and sparsely trafficked Spruce Mountain Lake.
I didn't see hide nor hair of any other humans during my stay. (A rarity these days)
Also, I had the pleasure of meeting Christian and spending some time chatting about the cabin.
Thanks for sharing this very special place with us, Christian!

Nov 2021The location feels like the middle of nowhere on a lake with minimal neighbors that have houses hidden by trees. If you enjoy camping but don’t want to lug all the gear, this is the place.

Jul 2021Rustic log cabin on a beautiful and quiet lake. We spent the day canoeing, reading, relaxing by the campfire. It was truly ideal. There was a spring nearby that you can drive to refill water jugs. We took the host suggestion and showered at the Airline Lodge & Snackbar. Great food, showers and laundry services. Christian met us on check in and walked with us the 1/3 mile to the cabin and showed us around. Lots of supplies still there from previous renters were also helpful. The bed was comfortable. Listened to the Loons call at night...perfect! We'll be back!

Nov 2022Our stay was short but enjoyable and we hope to go back someday. The cabin was great….rustic and user friendly. I liked the skylights that brightened it up. It was warm enough that we didn’t need the wood stove but we had a campfire outside at night.
Christopher was a great host.

Sep 2020My two dogs and I spent a glorious week at the cabin and can’t wait to go back! Whenever we had a question, Christian was always quick to respond and very helpful. We had absolute privacy - no nearby cabins nor other people or boats our entire week. Canoeing along the shoreline was amazing and the loons so much fun to listen to and watch. My only suggestion is if you bring a wheeled cooler, be aware you’ll likely need to carry it over the rocky sections of the pretty trail in. Thank you, Christian, for sharing your magical property with us! Nancy

Oct 2022My partner and I had an amazing time at Christian's cabin. The lake is crystal clear, and it's some of the best stargazing I've experienced on the east coast! The location of the cabin is perfect for taking day trips all around Maine—we went to Acadia and Lubec/Quoddy Head during our stay. There are plenty of supplies on hand at the cabin for cooking, bonfires, etc. Make sure you bring additional lanterns/headlamps as it gets extremely dark!
Although it was not an issue for my partner and I, hiking into the cabin with gear/supplies may be difficult for some. The hiking path is clear with only one downhill area, but I wouldn't suggest carrying too much in one trip.
As much as I want this cabin to stay a hidden secret, I absolutely recommend coming here if you love quiet and nature! :)

Aug 2022My boyfriend and I stayed for three nights with our dog, Duke. We live in a busy area off of a busy street, so it was nice to have some peace and quiet. We enjoyed "roughing it" a little but with the comfort of a bed and solid walls :). Would definitely recommend this to anyone whose looking for an escape from the creature comforts of everyday life.

Jul 2022I was looking for a place to escape the modern world and this property hit the nail in the head. Completely isolated from any nearby neighbors allowing you to enjoy the natural world as it was. Christian was an awesome host to work with and very accommodating. I had originally booked 3 nights and ended up extending my stay an additional two because I didn’t want to leave. He made that happen for which I am truly grateful. Nestled in a pine grove right on the waterfront allowed you to wake up every morning with a view of the lake from the front windows. The short hike from the road adds to the experience of stepping out into the wild. The greatest part was the fact that my Siberian Husky Max was able to enjoy the experience with me and I’m not so sure who loved it more. We spent an afternoon exploring the lake in one of the two canoes available and were graced by the majestic loons that live in the area. Every night we had a nice fire going which we cooked steak dinners on with the cast iron pans provided. A lone loon sang its song well into the night which is an experience like none other. Acadia/Bar Harbor has always been on my bucket list and was only an hour ride south. I can’t say I can check it off the list because there is so much more to explore. Without a doubt I will be returning to this little slice of heaven. Thank you for sharing it with us Christian!

Jun 2022I spent a long weekend here hiding from work and family. Just wanting solitude and time to reconnect with my husband. That was exactly what we got. Never saw anyone other then a pleasant meet and greet with the owner. I would not say it was quiet because if you listen nature is itself pretty noisy but in a different peaceful kind of way. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to leave the hurried bustle of daily life behind for a bit. It truly is a step back in time where one can lose the stress of daily living for a bit. Christian was accommodating and very pleasant throughout the process. We would stay here again.
