My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our 11 night stay in Villa Amphora. Prior to our arrival Ema promptly answered any queries we had and organised a taxi to collect us from the port. We had a very warm welcome by Ema and were pleasantly surprised as the villa exceeded our expectations as several improvements had been made since the pictures had been taken making it feel much more spacious and modern. My 2 daughters aged 12 and 15 were very happy in their twin room with ensuite and the double bedroom was a very good size as was the our ensuite. The kitchen was well equiped, everything you need and more but probably won't use as the local restaurants are so good! The terrace was huge, with lovely views and great to be able to eat outside. The area around the villa is very quiet and private. There is very little traffic on the small road between the villa and the sea, mostly cyclists and pedestrians. Ema and Nikola live in a separate house behind the villa so were easily available if needed and they occasionally popped round to bring some of their lovely figs and grapes. It was only a 3 minute walk down to the sea. Despite it being August it wasn't busy at all. Only a very small pebbly beach area but plenty of flat rocks to sit/lie on and the sea is beautiful. We usually stay somewhere that has a swimming pool but nobody missed one - it was so close to the sea which was very clean, clear and warm. Beach/rock shoes are definitely needed. Vrboska was an easy 10 minute walk. A very pretty town, not commercialised or touristy at all. There's only a handful of restaurants of which we liked Luka the best as it offered an excellent choice of good quality local food at a very good price with friendly service. There's 2 good supermarkets in the town and several bakeries. We visited Soline beach several times which is a very pleasant 3.5km walk from the villa. It had a couple of pedalos and a big floating inflatable playground which the girls really enjoyed. A good beach cafe there too. Other excursions included getting the bus to Stari Grad which I'd recommend and the taxi boat from the centre of Vrboska to the island of Zecevo - very beautiful and peaceful. We didn't hire a car, happy not to but if we had stayed longer then I think it would have been good to explore other areas of the island. I would definitely return to Hvar and Vrboska. We all agreed that Villa Amphora provided fabulous accommodation for our holiday.
