Amazing location; beautiful historic home; great, helpful host

The location is excellent with easy walking to sites, shopping, and great restaurants. The house is beautiful and historic. The host was great and provided great information ahead of time on how to get in/out of the property and also provided recommendations for nearby restaurants, shopping, and activities.

The house is historic so it creaks and on weekends being in a great location it is a little bit loud outside. But well worth it to be a stones throw away from so much. But for very light sleepers it may be loud on weekends

See above. Snowbird is a really neat stay. Don’t miss the gallery and pottery on the bottom floor.

Great location, close to several restaurants, easy walk to downtown and bus stop #1.

I wish we had more time. We had two nights but should have stayed at least three before boarding our cruise. But that’s on us. We also booked a room on the top floor so lugging luggage was tough for a couple of 70+ year olds. Again, on us for not thinking everything through.

Exceptional stay

The location, the super cute and extremely clean house, easy access with the lockbox, a tea kettle and French press as well as oven, fridge and stove top to cook some of our own meals on esp before and after long day tours when restaurant and Cafe choices were limited. The beds were comfortable and despite the central location it was very quiet.

Location Location location - such a great place to orient yourself on arriving into Iceland. The facilities were excellent and the small welcoming chocolate, a delight.

Minor detail only with the floors being a bit acoustically thin. We had very considerate upstairs neighbours.

How noisy upstairs was , could hear almost everything and it sounded like they were entering our apartment everyime they came in

fantastic, loved the apartment and the personal touches from the owner.

Cosy warm little apartment in a very traditional building, had everything we needed, with stylish interior fittings. location could not have been better in the centre of town.

not a lot to not like. couch could have been more comfortable but I’m being very picky!

Beautiful, great location, helpful owner.

The homeowner Elsa was amazing! First of all the house is so cute and in a great location. It is decorated with all her artwork which I loved. Elsa was great at communicating with us, and when we got stuck in Iceland due to a storm she was so helpful and accommodating. She definitely saved our trip! The bed is comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked with anything you might need. Large bathroom with a great sized shower. We had an amazing stay at house of the snowbird, we will be back soon for a summer trip!

A perfect, cosy apartment, in the most ideal location.

The location was exceptional, and the property was always nice and warm (which was perfect after a frosty day in Reykjavik). Elsa was very helpful throughout our stay, and the room was well equipped.

Location was amazing and all the little extras provided like coffee tea milk drinks chocolate was a lovely surprise and added bonus beautiful comfortable house.

The noise from other residents felt like they were in the room with us. They were very heavy footed and I would suggest asking the upper residents to be mindful and remove their shoes.

Everything was exceptionally clean and there were nice personal touches like food we could make and kitchen supplies to use. You could tell they really cared. The location was also perfectly in the center of Reykjavik with free parking.

Perfect place to stay

Almost everything was perfect. Amazing place to stay just a couple minutes walk into downtown, just far enough to keep the noise down at night. The apartment was well stocked and felt like home, I could have moved right in.

It’s an old house and sound carries. If you have noisy people above or below you it might be annoying, but I didn’t have that problem.

Wonderful historic property in a great location.

Location of The House of the Snowbird is absolutely spot on. It is a very eclectic area with great restaurants, museums, galleries and close to the harbour. The host Elsa could not have been any better with her communication and even helped book us a taxi for an early departure.

The location was perfect. The artwork was beautiful and the place had so many wonderful little “extras” like kitchen staples. If I am lucky enough to return to Iceland, I would definitely stay here again.

This is the only place I’ll stay when I visit Reykjavik again

Everything about House of the Snowbird is great. Its location is perfect as there are a lot of great cafés and restaurants in short walking distance. The house is spotless and has beautiful decor and it was nice and warm in there too! Elsa the property owner is great at communicating and checking in to make sure that we were ok during the storm that happened while we were there.

We could hear people from the apartment above-which didn’t really bother us but may not be ideal for very light sleepers

Fantastic apartment for a couple

Awesome apartment in the centre of Reykjavik with the added bonus of a parking space. The apartment is a traditional Icelandic building, very comfortable and had everything we needed. On our first night, we could see stars and in the guide there was a suggestion of where to get the best views in Reykjavik of the northern lights. It was right and we did see this wonderful sight. The apartment is centrally located and makes walking around easy. Brilliant apartment and highly recommended.
