Eric the Red Guest House has been my favorite stay during my travels in Iceland! I would highly recommend this guest house to all travellers like myself, looking for comfort, convenience, and affordability. I immediately was welcomed and taken care of, all my needs were met by the host. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

The location is excellent, the staff is very friendly, and everything works well.
At first I was nervous because I didn't meet anyone.

What a great stay! Everything from a warm welcome and warm departure. The ambiance and the way the guesthouse is set up, you can stay in your room, or come out into the kitchen/dining area, which is absolutely worth doing. Nikola is a wonderful host, very helpful & accommodating. The room was a good size, the whole guesthouse was well heated and always a pleasure to come in from the cold. The beds were comfortable, shower was a good pressure. "Bus Stop #8" is very close to the Guesthouse (1-2 minute walk) and you can book all of your excursion pick-ups from here. It is right beside an iconic church that changes colour with the sky. I've added photos of the church/bus stop 8 and the view from my room. You can see that it is a quiet area, but not far from the centre. I had a very nice stay here. A Guesthouse is a great way to meet other travellers from all over the world. If you normally go with hotels, maybe think again for this trip, as you will have a more sociable experience in a Guesthouse with all kinds of travellers.

It is a cozy room, very friendly staff and the city center in walking distance.
we rented the bungalow wich is a bit small for the price but nice interior. The shower curtain was not really clean.

The room was old but clean, comfortable bed, clean toilet. Staff was really accommodating, offered us free stuff available. Good wifi. Public parking available. Just beside the iconic church. Near the Bus Stop 8.

Unbeatable location and friendly and helpful staff.
Our room was next to the main entrance so it was a bit noisy.

The location of the house is right next to the church and a minute walk from down town. The host was great, very friendly and if you have any questions they get back to you fast. the rooms are nice, toilet was clean. The kitchen and dinning room are well equipped and are very cozy. The coffee and a selections of teas were super nice. :)

fantastic location, large clean room, lovely dining room with huge beautiful table, full kitchen available.
There were seemingly only 2 bathrooms and only one bathroom with a shower, which was in a vague state of disrepair - but useable.

This was a great place to go when first arriving in Reykjavik. The proprietor let me keep my bags there prior to check in, and he worked hard at getting me checked in earlier than the stated time after an overnight flight. Nice facilities, friendly guests, and very friendly manager. Good price for the location.

The location is absolutely perfect. Quick walk to see the main walking strip and the big church.
It’s an older house so some facilities are a little small and dated, but still a fantastic value for the price and location.

Great location.Close to the vibrant downtown and bus terminal. Easy to find since it is close to enormous chaurch spire.
Owner/manager was not on site. Sort of self serve accomodations.

Super convenient location for central Reykjavik, walking distance to all of the main areas in town. The building is lovely and full of character, easy check in, nice, big rooms. This is a 'shared guesthouse', i.e. private rooms but with shared kitchen and bathrooms facilities so worth factoring that in if you are fussy. Breakfast is simple, unless you buy/prep your own.
Would be nice to have some extra pillows available.
