We liked the breakfasts, the general relaxed ambience of the place and the private beach.
There was not a lot of information about room location (which block) when we first booked a room online. I'm sure this would have helped us make a much better and informed room/location decision instead of having to ask and pay for a better room/location after we arrived. The place is great but really needs more lifts, escalators etc to help guests navigate the steep slopes.

Overall this is a very nice hotel, with good staff and good facilities. beautiful location with nice views. You can swim at the beach all year long (no big waves here), but only at high tide. There ‘s a free shuttle to get to the other side of the small peninsula where the hotel is located.
- the hotel didn’t take into consideration my earlier request for rooms with separate beds, so we ended up having two rooms with king beds, which is disappointing, taking into account that i made this request a while back.
- the hotel is dated, but is maintained in a very good condition. but some things, like shower and bathroom need an immediate update.
- Food experience could be better. Breakfast has a wide selection of dishes, but it lacks some basic things, like porridge, and plain yogurt (the one they call plain is in fact sweet). I never have high expectations about the coffee at the breakfast, but theirs is simply disgusting. it is badly overburnt.
- Dinner food was good. but the service is bad. they brought all dishes separately, some with 15 minute intervals. Staff doesn’t know their menu, and cannot explain what is what. Needless to say it is greatly overpriced

The location is amazing. The beach is private and beautiful. Breakfast is great. Family room is very spacious and comfortable. I also suggest to take a trip to Coral Island, which is organized by the hotel and leaves from the hotel jetty. It's amazing.
You have to book for dinner, so we always ate outside. It is not a big problem, but if you want to eat at the hotel you must book well in advance. Unless you're flexible and don't mind eating at 9. Also, I would say the staff at the reception and bar at the beach were great. But the staff at the main restaurants sometimes seemed a bit not bothered.

Location and private beach. Free shuttle service to go accros the hill to reach Kantary bay where bars/restaurants and coffee shops are located.
Room cleanliness wasn’t up to the standards of a 5stars hotel. Moreover not much of flexibility in terms of early check-in/ late check out.

Hotel is very old and all equipment in it is old.
Service is not good.
We have limited number of water bottles and they charge for any extra bottles.

I have stayed here before and its a great hotel
The hotel was completely full with our Chinese friends :-) The local bars had closed down due to lack of business from them and even the hotel bar, The Lighthouse, had not had customers for several days. The current guests did not do bars, we ended up getting a taxi to Patong at night, 1000 baht each way, then we rented a car for the rest of the time. The Panwa restaurant was fully booked days in advance so there was only the Cafe, where you have breakfast. Next time will book a place nearer some nightlife.

It’s my second stay in Cape Panwa! I love this place, it’s so peaceful! From last time there are a lot of improvements: more healthy food, gluten free bread, almond milk, quinoa. New playground on the beach for kids. More toys in kids room. Amazing place for family, or for couple! Private beach, with calm sea all year!
Everything was perfect!

Very friendly professional staff and excellent service. Great beach with good weather.
Isolated from everything else at Phuket. Ugly rear area accommodation blocks. A little too boring for single travellers.

Friendly staff , great customer service , good location with private beach , excellent breakfast choice , good local tour options
Poor sign posting around the resort ,struggled to find direct way from room to the beach, spa prices too expensive comparing to local offers. Rooms and hotel in need of renovation , pricey hotel restaurant

My partner is celiac and has to follow the gluten-free diet. We were happy to see that all of the hotel’s restaurants had plenty of gluten-free options and the staff could understand what GF means. The food was tasty too!
We also loved that the hotel has a private beach. There were not so many people, so there was plenty of available sun beds at any time of the day. The pools were great and overall hotel’s territory is really nice. Since it’s surrounded by hills, the views are amazing. It really felt like a peaceful jungle getaway. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday!
You could see that the hotel hasn’t been renovated for some time but personally I wasn’t bothered be this as most of the time was spent on the beach :)

I loved the beach and sea view from our room. The beach area was very nice with sunbeds offering shade amongst the palm trees. The swimming pools were good too.
My husband was really unwell during our stay and we can't determine how he got such a nasty stomach upset. I also returned home with one too.

great for a break away from the crowds due to location
it was probably a 5* when the hotel first opened. it’s a bit tired in places now - it feels dated and needs a refresh

The beach was picture perfect! Very nice staff, we enjoyed our stay and if we come back to Thailand, we will chose this hotel again.
The building is getting a bit long in the tooth but it didn't bother us at all!

Breakfast was OK by the standards of an international hotel.
Room was very good, large and good view, although was expensive.
Beach: very good
Decor looks a bit old and shabby.
Gym was not very good, too small and the equipment not in good repair.
Breakfast was OK although could be better. The birds are a health and cleanliness issue.

All of it.
Customer service and food was exceptional.
Fairly expensive.
Bathroom could do with modernisation.

The staff at the hotel are lovely, friendly and do their very best to assist where possible. Unfortunately for them, they can only work with what they have got and what they have got is a seriously tired hotel...... so I do feel for them.
The shower was decent, nice and powerful plus there is a useful little fridge and a room safe.
Also, the location is lovely and on a more peaceful part of the island, it would be even more peaceful if bus loads of people from the sister resort weren't shipped in every day clogging up the limited facilities.
Parking is good, and I certainly recommend having a hire car as you will probably want to escape on a daily basis in search of some space and affordable drinks. A car is also a bonus given the so-called shuttle service is extremely limited and cannot cope when groups turn up.
Now the 'not so good', so let's start with the overall maintenance of the property. Cape Panwa hasn't seen a paint brush since the 2009 financial crisis, if not earlier. Everything looks so tired and unkept. The paint is flaking off, there is rust in just about every area with exposed metalwork. Several of the plug sockets in our room were so old and baggy that they couldn't hold the connector so charging items was a challenge. Also, our phone did not work so we couldn't call reception for assistance with our bags. The air conditioning unit in the room whilst effective, was very noisy which made sleeping with it on a challenge. The room terrace was very uninviting due to the flakey paint and old grubby furniture, this a real shame as the terrace is not overlooked and we were really looking forward to spending time on it chilling out.
Now the beach - There are, in theory, plenty of sunbeds. That said they weigh roughly the same as a family hatchback and are made out of unforgiving wood. Wood is fine, but not when the cushions offer minimal comfort. As previously mentioned, the sister hotel transports its residents to Cape Panwa and the result is that it is hard to find an empty sun bed unless you get there at daft o'clock, which isn't really the objective of a holiday. Swimming isn't great when the tide is lower as it is rocky at knee level.
Around the pool there is the usual shenanigans of selfish people trying to reserve beds with towels before breakfast. There are signs warning people not to do this or their items will be removed, that however is an empty threat.
To summarise, we were really looking forward to staying here before heading off to the west coast. Whilst we love the area and enjoyed exploring new things, the hotel was a disappointment. Cape Panwa needs investment, and it should get it as it boasts a fabulous location.

I liked everything, we first visited this hotel over 20 ears ago. The hotel is beautiful.
The breakfast is magnificent, a buffet breakfast with a huge choice, most definitely something for everyone. The hotel was quite busy with a conference, but it was always easy to get a table, made up and ready, I never saw a table that needed clearing.
The beach is stunning, soft white sand, lots of places under palm trees to relax and enjoy, the grounds of this hotel are well established. There is a a pier on the beach, walk along and look over the edge and you will see many tropical fish. Shoals of sergeant majors, some impressive parrot fish and a few angelfish. A joyous sight.
I had requested a quiet room with good wifi, and the hotel gave me just that, it was fabulous.
There is a hotel bus that takes you from the hotel, up and down an impressively steep hill to the sister hotel, the Kantary Bay Hotel. Alongside this hotel are numerous restaurants, the Kantary bay cafe, (amazing puddings and ice-creams!) and at dusk a little street market springs into action.
Cape Panwa hotel is a gem, and we will return at the end of 2023. I could wax lyrical about this hotel for ever, the pool is fab too. A glorious piece of paradise.
Nothing, it was fab.
