The perfect getaway!

The property at the MITSUI alone was stunning. The architecture was beautiful and the gardens were perfectly kept. We received tea and hand towels upon arrival, daily gifts were delivered to our room (face mask, chocolates, and lip balm), and we even got to see its cherry blossom tree in full bloom during our stay. The public onsen was also the perfect space for a quiet day or night at the hotel. It’s the bottom floor so you feel like you are transported to another location. We left feeling rejuvenated from the long days of exploring and the loudness of other cities we visited.

Breakfast felt chaotic on some days. The earlier we went, the better. After 9am, it was always busy and it felt like the staff was overwhelmed and flustered. We understood since it was cherry blossom season but it was noticeable.

Moderate stay

I came here to explore the design of Andre Fu with my family in a big group. The landscape was beautiful, it’s contemporary yet has mix of heritage look. We love the interior, the spaces of the lobby where the sliding glass open up to the garden with the view of Sakura. The valet parking and welcoming staffs are friendly.

I was surprised by the hotel's additional charge for my child's breakfast as it differs from my previous experiences. Clear communication on costs, especially for children, is important for guests. The unexpected extra charge for my child's breakfast was disappointing especially we pay for this rate. Furthermore, We can hear disturbing noise during midnight. They are Rubbish collector truck and drunken people along the street. We have 5 rooms not every room experienced it. Those who stay near the end of the hotel. Some room air conditioning is warm although it’s in spring so they have to open their windows and the noise got louder.

Perfect choice for a luxury experience in Kyoto

Hotel facilities were amazing with a beautiful garden in the middle. The room itself (Deluxe Suite) was also perfect. The interior decor created a very relaxing ambience. Everything they provided in the room was also top notch. Location is very convenient with all attractions easily accessible by taxi or metro. Kyoto is not big so it is easy to get around. Service was also perfect.

Only minor room for improvement was the small selection of food for breakfast. There’s enough variety for a 2-3 day stay but beyond that some may find the selection repetitive.

You get what you pay for. Total luxury

If you want a comfortable luxury stay then this is the best hotel in Kyoto. Spacious rooms, great hospitality, amazing bathroom & beautiful interior. The staff were very helpful & made it easy getting taxis & arranging & calling kimono rental shops. But best of all was the spa & the private onset. As a man with tattoos I was paranoid but it was amazing I got to use the facilities & the private onset was like something out of a manga. Worth every penny

Stunning Hotel!!

The hotel attention to detail is amazing. The room and the thermal spa was incredible. And let's not forget about breakfast and dinner! The food was so special and high end. It was my last stop before heading home. I stayed at 6 other resorts before arriving at The Mitsui. I would definitely stay here again.

A wonderful treat

The property is magnificent, the rooms spacious comfortable and beautifully decorated. The mineral spring spa is beautiful and very large. Breakfast excellent. Service impeccable

I would not go back.

they were able to offer western food. after a week of exotic Japanese foods in the countryside it was nice to have an excellent pasta

staff were inexperienced, did not speak English well, inefficient and generally not of a standard in a 5star hotel.

This hotel had amazing service and accommodations.

My partner loved the spa and went two nights in a row. The accommodations were better than we could have hoped and the location was very central and easy to navigate to and from.

Only one night were we slightly uncomfortable due to the AC not working but they fixed it as soon as we mentioned it. It really wasn’t a problem.

The breakfast was very good but the beds were the most comfortable we have ever experienced

I asked for a cup of coffee in the early afternoon which I had to pay for, I thought that was a little questionable.
