The food propsed for lunch or dinner was really good and healthy. The hotel manager and the staff kind.
Overpriced for a lodge that is not more than a basic hostel, very disappointing. No basic appliances in the room as small fridge, kettle nor bed side lamps. WiFi is working poorerly, only in the breakfast area, not in the rooms or garden. Breakfast is very basic and always the same
The owners should improve or lower the price, it is not worth over 100 usd a night.

Excellent location literally on the beach. Breakfast was good and the staff were only too happy to provide us with any food requests and cook what we liked. Including some really nice local dishes.
Air conditioning in rooms would make it more comfortable for a good nights sleep. The staff were very accommodating and tried their best to provide all services ,housekeeping etc.great. But could do with some management supervision!!

Small and friendly. Good value, lovely swimming pool. Home away from home. Would definitely go back.

Staff and location. A paradise.
Regular electricity failures that caused disruption with the ventilation, which in Zanzibar is mandatory.

We loved this place from the second we walked in! Perhaps even more beautiful than shown in the pictures. Perfect garden and pool, perfect setting on the beach, great food at reasonable prices. We also immensely enjoyed the lounge outside our rooms on the 1st floor. Staff very kind! We just wished we had booked more than four nights...
Sunbeds could have been cleaner, and I missed being able to make myself a cup of coffee when I was up early to watch the amazing sunrises. Rooms were quite dark, but that didn't really bother us.

It felt like being at home, great staff and atmosphere. We loved the big open social area and easy access to the beach. The manager was fantastic and treated us to a unique Italian experience with the kids which was very special!
Wifi connection slow and breakfast was a bit light.
I would recommend some hooks to hang clothes in the rooms and a light rug next to the beds, otherwise everything else was fantastic 👍

Wonderful staff. Great location. Good service and good food. The chef was great and adapted to our needs of vegan and vegetarian food.
Power was lost frequently, leading to inconvenience. Loud music from hotel next door, leading to lack of sleep.

Great location and very serene for jambiani. Amazing chef and great food - don’t know why they never advertised their food and chef. Lovely garden. Spacious rooms. Clean toilets. Smiley in-house team. Great massage (Jessica) ..
Wish the team was trained better. They need a manager who is there daily to upgrade themselves. It is obvious they do their best but it is also obvious they don’t know better. Yes this place is a lodge and it is not a 5star hotel so we are happy as we didn’t expect much - but I can say that with a regular manager who has a hospitality background and some valuable social media marketing (more then an empty space photo) they can easily be fully booked and have returning clients and also choosing to eat in .. also a shower curtain would be great 😅

Direct beautiful beach access.
Small house with 4 rooms - so you feel home and as if the whole house/lodge belongs to You!
Great food and cheap compared to europe.
Attentive staff.
Clean and tidy all times.
Flexible with everything (when you want to eat, checkin or out etc).
Superb value for money
The surrounding is less tidy (between main road and the lodge). But hey, this is discovery and a new experience - i always prefer this over an all inclusive neutral one)))
And be ready for hearing the morning prayers.

Our family enjoyed our time at Raja Lodge. It was a comfortable stay. The room was spacious and the pool was lovely. After pool time we would walk out the gate right onto the beach. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A pleasure to be around. I would undoubtedly stay here again.
We were not a huge fan of the dinner. We took the opportunity to explore other restaurants along the beach.

Beautiful idillic villa on a fantastic location. Walk from the premise right onto the paradise beach with view on the azure waters.
Clean bed and bathrooms, plenty sunbeds at the pool under the waving palm trees
We had a false start: the place was very messy and dirty when we arrived, our rooms were not ready as promised and confirmed during booking. We stayed for 2 nights in which we felt tolerated guests in somebody else’s private villa. We were the only paying guests. The owners/managers were present all the time, occupying the best spots, on both days accommodating different (big) groups of friends in the afternoons invading the social areas and hanging out on sofas and tables.
In the evenings and mornings when no friends were there, the managers were sitting at the center piece, working/ smoking/ drinking. (The only spot the WIFI functions) Absolutely not an inviting atmosphere to sit down and relax. We felt only tolerated because we contributed to cover the cost of this beautiful property, not at a single moment did we experience the feeling of being a guest at a boutique hotel. This is mostly due to management. The staff was friendly.
To wake up in the morning and finding the full ashtrays (we do not smoke) and uncleared social areas: not nice.
The pictures were true maybe years ago but for us all was faded. There is no more love left for this place. A real shame, it holds such promises.
If you have this budget to spend, go somewhere else. At the same coast you easily find places for 2/3 of the priCe with 5 times the value

A charming place located directly at the white sand beach with a beautiful courtyard and swimming pool. Spacious, clean rooms, very friendly owners and staff.
Limited breakfast options.
